Peers just sat there in silence. There wasn’t much to say as he let Dyl look at his back. It didn’t sit well with him to just let someone scrutinize his back, but as long as he wouldn’t try to touch it he wouldn’t care. Luckily he didn’t even attempt to. He would’ve been perfectly fine and kept his cool with their encounter. Except of course idiot Blondie had to bring up being short. He couldn’t help the anger as it rose to his head. “Oh, yeah, real funny. Shortie isn’t capable of anything, can’t swim or help himself. ******** off...” His words spewed with contempt. Seriously, what kind of logic was it that a short person couldn’t swim?

Placing his hands on either side of him, the water swelled and cascaded down his legs as he pushed himself to his feet. He was ready to just walk away and be done with him. He wiped his hands together to clean them of the sand, his body turning in preparation of walking off. But then he stopped. Dyl had continued blathering on like nothing was amiss and it seriously irked him. He honestly just wanted to blow up at him, but he didn’t know if he could when that kind of naivety was familiar. Lola was much the same on occasion. Some of the things she said could be so stupid and annoying, but she never meant harm by it. Was Dyl just that stupid too? It was probably being from the ocean that made him like that.

With a very aggravated sigh he stayed put, his gaze looking down at the now just as quiet merman curled up. He shuffled a little further away but he sat back down in the water. Still fuming of course. “No,” he snapped, “it didn’t hurt and it doesn’t mean s**t.” His temper only lessened when he was asked about any more tattoos. He didn’t know. His hand slid down his leg and touched the tree at his ankle. All the ones he had were for his mom, but he didn’t know if he could handle any more reminders. Maybe he should focus on getting something for himself. “No… I don’t think I will.” He fell quiet and rested his arms over his knees, looking out to the horizon. Whatever else that Dyl could possibly say, he didn’t know if he’d hear it. He just wanted to sit there and feel the waves crash over his body. Pretend he was floating in a river like he’d done before with his mom.

The sea breeze blew against her alabaster flesh and threatened to flip the pages of her book, cool and refreshing as it sliced through the wall of humid air, its metaphorical fingers ran through and tousled her strawberry blonde locks, splaying out like a golden halo around her head. She chortled, a soft, saccharine, mirthful sound, as she pulled some hair out of her lipgloss. She rubbed her lips together, straightening her rose-tinted sunglasses — it’s circular lenses were rather large compared to her small face; then returned to her reading material after the minor adjustments.

Faun had kept herself relatively sequestered in the King estate for a while actually, even though she lived in this beautiful beachside city, she didn’t seem too thrilled by the idea of leaving the house at all. The most anyone saw of her was taking out the trash, or picking up food deliveries at the door. Sure, everyone handles grief differently, but upon finding she was on a first name basis with her delivery man, she realized that perhaps a little outside time, maybe some exploration and relaxation would do her good, no? Besides, even though this was the city she was born in, she didn’t remember anything about it, shipped off to boarding school or kept in the estate to be tutored and cared for.

So, she packed a bag; books, towels, beach umbrella, chair, sunscreen, you know the drill — and set out to the public space. Of course, Faun expected it, the sight of so many people running around, children splashing and throwing sand, balls flying, it nearly sent her back home. But after a bit of wandering around the sandy terrain, she found the perfect spot to set up, breathe in the fresh air, show off her bathing suit… and it wasn’t too far from the water either! For the first time in a while, Faun was starting to warm back up, the frigid numbness that had placed itself deep within her core was thawing. Slowly, but surely.

A sigh of relief passed parted lips, the ease that set in was such a nice feeling, and after such a long time apart, almost foreign. There was a very real moment when she thought she wouldn’t ever feel again, swept away in the storm of a broken family, the family she had broken in the first place. She could see now how silly she had been to think such a thing.

”ACK!” In the brief moment of pondering, another gust of wind struck, hitting Faun from the back, blowing her hair around in a frenzy, obstructing her vision, and taking her book with it, sending the thin paperback tumbling along the sandy shore. In the battle with her hair, she hadn’t been able to see how far it took off, and with a huff, stood to chase after the runaway literature.

After the rain and bad weather from yesterday, today seemed to be like the perfect make-up day for the things that they couldn't do because of the awful weather. So, Sophia had came to the decision to hit the beach as the weather was pretty warm with not a storm cloud in sight. Not wanting to leave her at home by herself, she dragged Sachi out to the beach with her. She didn't want her to be all cooped up in their house again, doing her normal boring hobbies like building her ship-in-a-bottle and whatever else she does. When they arrived at the beach, she had the biggest grin on her face with her eyes practically sparkling. There wasn't that many people around so that made her even more excited. She turned around to face her sister who was catching up to her. She was practically hopping with joy with her unbridled enthusiasm. "We beat the crowds, Chi! Let's go find the perfect spot!" She then turned around and took off running, leaving Sachi in the sand.

Sachi wasn't as athletic as Sophia was. She was having a hard time keeping up with her at the pace she was going. By the time she had caught up with her, she was out of breath. "W-would you slow down!?" It was absolutely exhausting both physically and mentally to be around Sophia when she gets like this. When she does, she has almost no hopes of saying no to her as she would just end up dragging her along with whatever she has planned anyway. Despite how exhausting it was to be around her though, they were both extremely close and had a tight-knit, unbreakable sisterly bond. She took a moment to catch her breath but before she could say anything else, Sophia had already took off running across the sand. "H-hey, Phi! Oh why do I put myself through this? Wait up!" Without a moment longer to spare, she took off running across the sand, giving chase to Sophia.

It took a little bit but Sophia had eventually found the perfect spot she was looking for. Away from the crowds that were already there and had a full view of the surrounding area as well as the nearby shack on the beach that sold various drinks and foods. Once she found the spot, she held her arms up high in the air, leaning back in a stretching motion. "This is it! This spot is perfect! Don't you think so....too?" She turned around and saw that Sachi was lagging behind her. She put her hands on her hips and watched as she slowly caught up with her. "Come on, you're too slow!"

Sachi was completely out of breath by the time Sophia had finally found the spot she was looking for and caught up with her. When she did, she dropped down to her knees, breathing heavily. "D-do you really think... I can keep up with you? I'm not as athletic as you. You could of...at least gone a little easy on me..." she managed to say between her breaths. She took one look up at Sophia who was standing above her and she didn't appear to be the least big tired while compared to her, she was exhausted from all the nonstop running. It was only made worse when she had to run across soft sand.

The weather was once again nice on the bustling beachside city. Normally Luke would be ecstatic about it and just go run around enjoying himself as usual. Not today. Today and the last were filled with nothing but thoughts about the news his father told him. His dad didn’t seem to care much one way or another, but Luke’s mind was all abuzz know that Ms. Talbot was finally back in town. Just the thought had him all flustered and distracted. He was antsy and impatient waiting for when they’d finally be able to start lessons. Honestly, Luke couldn’t help the way he felt. Ms. Talbot was the first person to truly care about his education and never once made him feel stupid for not knowing simple things. She was always so nice, even if she came off a little strict…

As the thoughts circulated around in his head he nearly forgot where he was. The tiger nearly tripped over some kids’ sandcastle and they all began whining and shouting for him to watch out. “S-sorry! S-sorry…” His face flushed out of embarrassment as he made his way around them and continued along the beach. “S-stupid… Pay at-ttenion,” he muttered to himself. He transferred the flip flops he was holding in his right hand to his left, then reached up to tousle his own black locks of hair. Brushing his bangs out of his face, he took a slow, deep breath. He had to remind himself he was at the beach for a reason. To enjoy the sunny day and not think about his teacher. He dragged his bare feet through the sand as his gaze slowly drifted to ocean.

The beach was crawling with large amounts of people wanting the same thing he did, but all their noise was drowned out in his ears. It would be too much for him otherwise, so maybe being distracted had been a good thing. His steps took him farther away from the happy shrieks of children and adults playing alike. Eventually the only loud noise was the beach itself and the waves crashing down. That at least he could handle. It was because of that that he was able to easily pick out the small voice of a female cry out nearby. It didn’t sound playful in any way so it had him whipping his head around to look. The woman he saw sat alone, her bright colored hair flying about in her own face. The sight was funny and brought a smile to his face.

Then a flash of quick movement in the sand caught his attention. To his surprise a book was tumbling right past him from the strong blow of the wind. Without even thinking Luke practically dove for it and snatched it up before it could head into the water. “G-got it!” Luke exclaimed happily as he stood back up, waving the book up above his head to show it off. Lowering it, he shook the sand from between its pages while he slowly walked over to the woman. He could only think it was hers, especially with how she had only barely started chasing after it moments before he had. “Th-this is yours—” His approach could almost be considered daunting, his scarred face and tall height towering over her petite form. Yet he held a lopsided smile as he held the book out to her. “R-right?

It was an awesome sleep he had gotten at Alison's place and after leaving Ryan was sure to lock the door behind him. He was sly enough to have left without waking her so that was cool, but even if Alison had left before he even woke up he did leave that message in that book of hers on the the table. While he is just shaking off the buzz from last night Ryan drove to his home to take a shower and change clothes before heading down to the beach. With his fine car parked nearby Ryan steps out, leaving his shoes in the car, to feel the heat of the sand inviting him to the sparkling sea. While the sun of the day was making up for yesterday the heat of the sand was burning his toes, getting the caramel skinned male to run for the shores. His body was a sight for some of the ladies who gave a look and stare at the healthy young man who ran by with surfboard in hand and as his bandage fell off his left shoulder the scare of a recent gun shot could be seen as a healed scare; Just another mark to add to the tapestry of his body's story of a rough life.

Wave after wave the young latino man would play with grace on his surfboard as the sun kiss upon his skin. Skirting and skidding with a twist of his body and the board would cut a swath through the running waters while all the while Ryan's happy smiles would not fade. It was exciting ducking low and narrowly riding the tube of water which encircled over him, and his hand was even daring enough to reach out to touch the rushing ocean liquid beside him. As Ryan exited out the pipe wave he quickly cut right to spin around and go around for the next wave coming. Like a shark he shot for the risk and with the risk he'd soar high into the sky for some stylish air time just like a hyper dolphin. While he was having a thrill he hadn't noticed how the waves had taken him until he landed from the sky and began surfing back to an empty side of the beach occupied by two single girls only.

"Excuse me, look out!" Ryan tried warning the girls as he came in hot from the shot of force the wave pushed him back to the warm sandy shores.

Sophia couldn't help but giggle at her expense. Of course, she knew that there was no way for Sachi to keep up. She doesn't get out to exercise much because of how much of a recluse she was. Anyone would fall out of shape if they lived a life like that. "Well, if you didn't drown yourself with tea while going through those books of yours, you wouldn't have that problem" She knew that this kind of behavior from her was one of the things that gets on her nerves but she knew deep down that, this is what she wants to do. She's just unable to bring herself to do it. Then, she heard a voice calling out to them. She looked around and saw that it came from someone who was surfing on a wave that was coming towards them. "Well, I hope you still got energy to move because I suggest doing so" She then stepped off to the side, away from where the person surfing was going to end up landing.

Sachi just didn't have the social interaction skills that Sophia did. There are times where even she doesn't understand how she can be so optimistic and enthusiastic all the time and they've been tight-knit since childhood. "I just like to read my books while I relax at home and tea helps set the mood. What's wrong with that?" Her attention soon towards the sea, following Sophia's gaze where someone was surfing right at her. Sophia had already moved out of the way before she could look back at her after she finished her sentence. "Huh? H-hey! She scrambled up to her feet and got out of the way of the incoming surfer, soon stumbling over and rolling across the sand next to Sophia. She was still a little weak in the knees from running.

As Ryan rode closer one of the little ladies was quick to step out the way while the other was swift enough to get up and out the way yet tumbled to the sand at the end. Once the bored hit the shore Ryan kicked off of it, letting the surfboard grind to a stop onto the dry sands as Ryan quickly came to the aid of the little lady who had taken a tumble. "Hey, you alright? You're not injured are you?" His body covered the sun from getting in the lady's face as Ryan was on all fours to examine the lady, and then looking over to the twin (or what Ryan assumes is a twin given how these two closely resemble one another) and then gave an apology. "Sorry for coming in like that. The waves were rougher than I thought."

Sachi brushed the sand off of her after her little roll but she was pretty covered with it. She would need to get in the water soon to wash the rest of it off. By this time, the surfer had already landed on the beach and ran over to her to help. "Why must life be so cruel? I could be having a nice, relaxing time at home with my ship-in-a-bottle, drinking my tea with something playing on the tv to fill the emptiness of the room" She kept mumbling to herself, somewhat wishing that she wished she hadn't let Sophia drag her out of the house. Her expression was a gloomy one. Probably not the best expression for a first impression though but it was in her nature.

Sophia chuckled a bit, looking over the to surfer who came over to help after landing on the beach where they stood before. "Oh we're fine. Don't mind her. The waves are beyond anyone's control anyway." She had seen someone surfing on the waves as they lingered on the beach. They were pretty good at it from watching from afar. She didn't expect him to come barreling in on them but what can you do? "You're a surfer right? You're pretty good at it." Unlike Sachi, she remains pretty upbeat and positive despite almost having collided with an incoming surfer. She did feel a little bad for Sachi but it'll give her some social experiences.

The thistle haired girl muttered under her breath but Ryan didn't quite catch it all, just a few of the end parts. With a hand extended to the slightly sand covered girl Ryan's honey gold eyes would kindly look with slight concern as he wished to help the girl up to her feet. "I can't help with the ship-in-a-bottle but maybe they sell tea at the shop near by. Wanna go check it our? I'll treat!"

Ryan's ears hinged on another voice which chimed in, only this one was more upbeat and peppy but not as subtle and silky as the thistle haired girl. She tried to reassure Ryan that there was no true harm done yet Ryan wanted to hear something like that from the one who jumped out the way of danger. Still, the question posed did kind of get him to flush lightly a rosy cheek of pride. "Yeah, I'm a surfer but nothing professional though. I just ride the waves for the sheer thrill of it. How about you girls? Any of you surf?

Ayluin stretched as he reached the beach not far from his home. He had gotten up relatively early feeling curious to seeing the beach itself for a change. The last time he had been near, he had been more drawn to the aquarium than anything else. Since he was going to the beach, he still hadn't bothered to buy any shoes. In the forest where he had lived for a long time he never had need of them and so far here in Soleil neither. The high elf smiled as he looked out over the wide expanse before him. The gorgeous blue just spreading out before him. To be fair it was his first visit to any beach, unless you counted passing it from the other side to get to the aquarium. Ayluin wondered why he hadn't stopped to check it out then.

After looking over the sea for a while, Ayluin found himself a spot on the sand, not far from the water and lay down a towel. That was how they did it back in the forest at the lakes too. Of course there you had grass and moss, unlike the sand here. Once he placed the towel, the elf stripped from his clothes down to the new trunks he had already put on. For a moment he shivered a bit, but he heed it no mind. If the weather report was anything to go by, it would be warm soon. Ayluin had left his important belongings at home, as he was interested to explore this new water. Walking to the water he could feel the sand change from soft and dry to more compact and wet and he dug his toes in a bit before he finally walked into the sea before him.

At first it seemed fine, the water wasn't any colder than the lake at the forest had been. In fact it was relatively lukewarm compared to his morning dives in the lakes. However once he walked in till his waist the waves were stronger as well and before he knew it he was thrown over and landed in the water. In surprise he came up coughing a bit before getting back to land and sitting down in the sand grimacing. He had gotten some water in and it was beyond salt! Ayluin had read the sea was salt instead of fresh but he hadn't imagined it to be this bad, nor had he expected waves to be able to push him over that easily. The high elf shook his head and moved his wet long hair out of his face as he looked at the water ahead. It would seem he needed more caution with this 'ocean' than any lake he had swam in.

The
Prophet

Having gotten up that morning, Rowan had been inspired by her trip the the aquarium the other day and decided today would be a good day to visit the beach. She had never really been able to spend much time at a real beach, not even in her travels, she had mostly stayed inland, though she adores the water. Making her way down, she wondered what her new friend Ayluin was up to. She realized she didn't have any way to contact him, so she'd have to rely on pure chance to run into him again.Shaking her head, she figured it was almost a good thing, it forced her out of the house more often, but when she did see him again, she'd have to get a way of contact, and also invest in a phone since she hadn't had a need for one during her travels, or while she was still living among the other Prophets.
Arriving at the beach, it was more of a walk than she had expected, but not terrible. Well, it would have been better without the humidity. Smiling a little and laughing lightly to herself, she pulled her shoes off and instantly buried her toes in the warm sand. Turning her face up to the sky, she took in the warmth of the sand, the sun, and the beautiful sound of the waves. How the water was so calming, but the sound was more aggressive versus the sound of water on lakes as they crashed into the rocks that lined them. Shaking out her limbs a bit, she then started to move down the beach, just enjoying her walk and watching the birds dart around in the air.
As she watched, her eyes follow them as they landed on the sand, and thats where she caught sight of a small figure, with bright silver hair. "It can't be that easy..." But as she got closer, she could indeed tell that it was Ayluin, who seemed wet and a little disheveled. Holding back a small laugh, she raised her right arm, waving and calling out loudly, "Ayluin! Hey!" She smiled brightly as she approached, excited to see her friend and to have run into him so quickly. She wondered what he had been up to, and why exactly her was looking so, wet. The water must have gotten him. A chuckled escaped her lips as she imagined the waves overcoming her small friend.

Ayluin sighed once he was done coughing. Though the taste of all that salt still hadn't left him. Right now the elf wished he had brought something to drink, but he didn't think he had needed it. He was actually feeling rather thirsty now. Possibly from the water he had accidentally swallowed when the waves had overpowered him. Still the elf couldn't help but find the ocean beautiful still. He would just need to be more careful next time. At least now he knew what to expect the next time he went in. Ayluin was about to get up when he heard a familiar voice and he looked up and around. It didn't take him long to recognize the girl that like him had silver hair. A smile replaced the young man's grimace and he waved back as he got up and walked to his towel.

It was in the middle of them so at the same time he closed the distance between them as well. The high elf picked up his towel, shook it a few times before he dried his face at least and then he wrapped it around himself warmly as he started shivering a bit. Perhaps it had been a little to early for a swim. Not that this swim had been planned. His idea had been to just wade a little. Once Rowan came close enough, the young man smiled to her. "Hey Rowan. How are you today?" he asked. Ayluin hadn't expected to run into her this soon, considering they had been unable to share contact details as she lacked them. But it was fortunate that they did. "Of all chances to both be decided to go to the beach." he added and chuckled.

They were unable to make any arrangements, but it would something as fate had decided to put them back together in the same place again. Of course they had at least been able to exchange addresses, so it wasn't like they didn't know where the other lived. But one didn't just go to a house and knock without warning, or so Ayluin thought. Still he was glad to see his friend again.
