[EVENT] Hide and seek - Open!

"Cubs? Cubs are you out here?" It was a dumb question. Of course the cubs were out here the question was where had they gone.... Caius took a seat for a moment. This was starting to get frustrating all over again.

The little gray mouse had been roused from his sleep - and it had been such a nice nap! - by the sound of a sudden roar. He'd shivered from the tip of his nose to the end of his tail, his fur standing on end. What in the world was that terrible sound!!! He couldn't decide if it was an animal in pain or expressing anger or hate or... he had no idea what the noise expressed, other than it meant terror crept down his spine.

He really hated it when the leopards and cats of the colony he lived in the lands of got all riled up. They were so difficult to deal with... Thankfully, no one showed up in his immediate area... so he didn't head out of his burrow just yet.

'Think like cubs do.' He thought as he pushed back some tall grass. 'When you were a cub where would you hide?' He tried to remember. He was better at hiding than seeking, he remembered that much. Though the only reason he was any good at it was that he would fall asleep in his hiding spot. He wondered if any of these cubs were asleep. That would make a lot of sense.

Mchanga could hear the ring of other voices calling out to the cubs, but her's did not raise to join them. If she could hear them, it was likewise that the cubs would be able to hear them as well. Her search continued in silence. She wasn't exactly used to this terrain, and rather lived mostly on the plains, sleeping in the sparse amount of tall trees that grew there. This kind of thick underbrush was not her expertise, and though she struggled through it, she did not give up. If so many people were searching for these cubs, they must have been gone a ridiculously long time. This was... no good.

The commotion had attracted a stranger to the lands. So many leopards running about in a full panic, looking through the grass and up into the trees, each one more frantic than the one before. The elder listened on the edge of the territory, his brows raised and his ears rolled forward. It seemed some cubs had gone missing... how terrible.

Frowning, he turned his eyes downwards. Well it wouldn't hurt... they were, afteral, his kin. Not his tribesmen of course, but his kin regardless.

More leopards were coming in, some he didn't recognize. It was good to see so many different leopards working together. He could feel his darker side getting annoyed. 'They'll just get in your way you know that right?' His dark side thought.

Macaria rolled his eyes. His dark side could be so narrow minded sometimes. He preferred to think that with so many leopards helping the cubs would be found in no time. And than he could finally take his well earned nap.

A mostly white and spotted leopard attracted Caius's attention. More leopards and creatures were pouring in to help. But this was growing tiring. Caius wandered over towards Rashad to see if maybe he had any clues.

"We've been searching all afternoon and none have turned up..." There was a frown.

Searching in groups probably would be more effective, but in this point in time Mchanga felt it more prudent that a wider territory be covered. She kept her distance from other leopards, and reminded herself to keep her eyes sharply on the look out for any signs of disturbance. Everything in this underbrush looked natural to her, so maybe she was on the wrong track. She suddenly changed directions, trying to find an area that looked more promising than the one she had been trekking through. There had been no tiny paw prints where she had come from, and thus no hopes of finding the cubs there.

After awhile of just relaxing, Kalua decided it was time to start searching again. She felt rested enough. Her head was in it and she wasn't frustrated. Frustration could lead her to miss something. She walked over to the other side, looking carefully. No cubs were here. How could they hide so well with so many animals looking for them? It was something she could not answer.

A stranger approached, fearless of an outsider. Of course, he had bigger troubles on paw it seemed. There were countless leopards parting the grass and calling down holes. The poor things must have been out for quite a while to have gathered such a crowd.

"How terrible..." Rashad frowned. "Perhaps I might offer my help. Have you tried closer to the border? Cubs do tend to wander."

From his perch Grudge could see a dozen shapes milling about rather uselessly. Even if they knew what they were looking for it was becoming perfectly clear to the lone leopard that they had no idea how to properly look for their prey. What a rather worthless group. Laughing to himself cream colored eyes scanned the area. There were certainly many larger sized shapes of all colors, but for the most part they blocked his view of anything small and fuzzy.

Even on the verge of starvation this hunt seemed impractical. If his strong senses couldn't locate anything it was likely the cubs they were looking for were already gone. Eaten by a passing predator no doubt. What a waste.

Grudge didn't have any more time to waste on this endeavor, leaping from the branch he sat lightly on with surprising grace as he took his leave. Shoulders scrunched and head low, not that he was attempting to hide from the others. They were so involved in their own task he doubted they would have gave him a second look.

The little mouse stayed snuggled back in his burrow, hearing other cats alternately rush and walk by, thankfully none seeming too near him however. It sounded like maybe they were looking for something, but for the life of him, he didn't know what. Didn't.... really want to know what, either. The larger animals - especially the ones that wanted to eat him - could traffic in their own affairs and leave him out of it. Closing his eyes he twisted around and curled his tail over his nose to go back to sleep.

This spot held... a little more promise. She had no idea where cubs would like to wander to, but she imagined it had to be a place that looked 'fun'. This spot had enough underbrush to hide a young cub easily, and one would surely enjoy tangling themselves in the foiliage. Cubs were easy to please, but as evidenced by today, they were quite a pain. Her own boys had been much better behaved, and though they had fought with each other more times than not... well, they certainly hadn't taken off on her. They probably knew how piss she'd be when she did find them.
