"...A what." Granted, Aden was surprised at the results... but moreso at being beat out by some girl with a worm. Left in shock, he just went to get his winnings.

"Yeah..." Aden was otherwise quiet for most of the trip. At least until he got there and saw Ryan. "Huh, there he is."

He was quicker about claiming his Scyther, though, curious to see how things would turn up.

"So he went at it over this way too." I said, crossing my arms.

It was a short bit before someone came to the podium with a card in hand. "Welcome back to the National Park everyone. With a panel of judges, we have came with the top three Pokemon that we determine the strongest. It was a bit of a tough call this bunch, and that is saying something. There have been quite a few finds that even we didn't think imaginable in this park." he announced. "So without further adieu, let's get to it."

He started looking at the card. "Third Place goes to...Aden of Agate Village for his vicious Scyther!"

"Huh. Well...hell. You got Third, Aden." I told him.

"Third place contestants receive a package of 1500 Pokedollars and one evolution stone, random chance. You may claim your Scyther and your prize at the counter back at the reception gate." He announced. "For the record, everyone, well, namely to whomever gets 2nd and 1st, the same will go for you." He looked back at the card. "2nd place goes to...Ryan of the Orange Islands for his outrageous Pinsir! Talk about a world traveler. 2nd Place receives 3000 Pokedollars and a evolution stone, also random chance."

"Well looks like Ryan beat you out...wait...a Pinsir?" I asked.

"First Place goes tooooo.......Stephanie of Violet City!"

"How did she beat out a Scyther and a Pinsir?" I asked. "What did she have!?"

"For her energetic Caterpie!"

"........what." I sweatdropped. This contest has to be rigged.

Ryan blinks and then his jaw drops. He lost...to..a...Caterpie!? Ryan just shakes his head and goes towards the registration counter to collect his winnings, which felt hollow and cheated.

".........what. Just...what." I rubbed my eyes. "Just. You know? Aden. Let's...just.........yeeeeeeeaaahhh." I then started to make my way off for the counter for Aden to pick up his winnings.

"Yeah... sure thing... just... wha...?" Good news, the whole thing with Whitney wasn't on his mind. Bad news, his mind was having trouble comprehending what just happened.

At least he went about getting what he won.

Ryan silently approaches the counter. the person tries to say something, but he immediately waves it off and signals for them to just give him his winnings, pointing out a Water Stone for his Evo Stone.

He collects his winnings and just walks away, back towards Goldenrod, still in his stunned stupor, trying to grasp what the hell just happened.

Aden would find himself soon enough at the counter, the ranger handing over Aden's newly caught Scyther and his 1500 in winnings, plus hands over a box. It was a box, with a hole in the center. He wouldn't be able to see what was in it, but it was safe to assume there were quite a few to choose from and he could only pull out one.

"Thanks... and, lesse." Since seeing wasn't possible, Aden just reached his hand in and took a stone out. What he pulled out, though, looked like an ordinary, black rock. "Uh... okay then." Well, a stone was a stone.

"....." I looked at the stone. "Huh, you scored a Moon Stone, Aden." I said, crossing my arms. "Actually...now that I am thinking about it...well, I'll explain it to you here in a bit, probably on the walk back. At least after we're out of here." I said.

"Well, that explains why it looks kinda plain." Aden commented, pocketing the stone. He figured it was something that'd have more of a use later rather than sooner. "Besides, yeah, I... don't think I want to try and make sense of what went on here."

We finally cleared our way out of the park and started to go down the route back towards Goldenrod City. "Anyways, like I was saying, that is a Moon Stone." I said. "Very few Pokemon are able to evolve with such a stone. But it may interest you that one of your Pokemon could use it if you choose to later on."

"Wait, this would actually have a use?" Aden asked. "I figured it'd be something that'd just look pretty for a while."

"Actually, your Nidoran would be interested in that, perhaps. You see, after Nidoran, rather male or female, evolve to their next state, Nidorino or Nidorina, they can evolve using the Moon Stone to their final stage. You have a Nidoran, probably set to become a Nidorino. As such, he would be able to evolve to Nidoking." I said.

"However, there's a bit of a hitch that you may want to keep in mind in the long run..."

"Huh..." To Aden, this was a pleasant surprise. Though not one he'd want to use right away. Not only has his Nidoran not evolved yet, but there was the matter of using it too soon. He doubted Nidoran would be too happy to suddenly become a Nidoking in record time.

Upon hearing Blizzard go on, his suspicion was confirmed. "I'm gonna guess it'd have something to do with his capabilities if I was to use it right away?" He asked.

"That is exactly it. Apparently you're getting a bit of foresight...nice. At any rate, yea. Once a Nidorino becomes a Nidoking, anything else that a Nidoking can possibly learn has to come from you. Anything that it could learn naturally goes right out the window, meaning that if there are some abilities that it could figure out first while as a Nidorino that may benefit him, then it may be best to hold off until the both of you feel that its time." I said.

"Meaning stuff like the Technical and Hidden Machines. Yeah, I'll be holding back a bit. I'm a bit too limited there right now to afford it." He said. "Even if I could, it wouldn't be right so soon."
