"Well, Scyther?" Aden asked, looking to the Pokemon before him. "If my Geodude and Raticate are shameful, then show why you're better."
Seems he had a method to his madness here.
"(...Fine.)" Scyther went further ahead, arms outstretched.

Golduck was at the ready. A bug, he saw. A vicious and arrogant one, he gathered. Probably rightfully so considering what a Scyther alone has going for it. "Duuuck..."
"Alright then, let's get to it." I said. "Golduck! Use Water Pulse!" I shouted.
"Golllduck!" The Duck shouted, firing off the first attack of the battle. The Pulse traveled across the field for its target.

Scyther, not waiting for a call, swiftly moved out of the way.
"Oh, now you manage to dodge attacks." Aden commented.
"(You ever try to dodge lightning?)"
"...Nevermind. But, what would you know..." Looking through the SNAG, he got an idea. "Alright, what about a Quick Attack?"
Aden was shot a quick glare, but he didn't back down. "Well?"
Shaking his head, Scyther rushed onward to unleash the speedy assault.

"Heh, now we're talking..." I said. "Golduck! Disable!" I shouted. The Golduck then unleashed a mental shock. Lets cut that speed out for a minute.

"Should've seen that one coming..." Aden said. Scyther, though, wasn't exactly pleased.
"(Well? Now what? Thanks to you, I can't move as swiftly as I should.)"
"Will you at least give me more of a chance? I'm thinking... wait, I've got it."
"(This better be good...)"
"I think will be. Do you know Fury Cutter?"
Now Golduck would stand a chance of being struck again. If it was hit, though, it'd find the attack to be fairly weak.

Golduck went to weave out of the way, but Scyther managed to nick Golduck a bit. "We can't let that power build up..." I said. I had an idea, however. "Use Screech!" I shouted. "Gollll..." It gave a bit of a inhale. "DUCCCCKKKK!!!" The Duck screeched hard, loud, hell it was starting to rock me to the very core with that very noise.

"Ack!" Aden never did like screeching.
Neither did Scyther, it seemed. "(It's just like in the woods! Why does it always have to be the ears!?)" Trying to shut Golduck up, he began to generate a harsh wind.

That could be anything! Golduck! Take it out! Waterfall!" I shouted. "GOLDUCK!" The Golduck rushed for the Scyther, shrrouded by water, going to ram into it as hard as possible.

Being caught up in the charge and the screeching, Scyther couldn't do a lot to dodge it. Didn't help that the disabling effect was still limiting his speed, though it was beginning to wear off.
He was managing to keep going, but he was also learning this Golduck could hit hard. "(Fine, you're all-)"
"Scyther, no."
"(Then what do you propose?)"
"Double Team?"
"(I still don't believe I'm listening to you.)"
He at least attempted the move, showing he did know it. While his speed wasn't too good still, he was able to manage a few after images, each of them running around Golduck.

He looked around, trying to make sense of each of the copy. He knew as well as I did that all but one were fake. Question was...which one? Hell if I knew. And Golduck had nothing to counteract that at the moment, which made my situation all the more dire. At least I could at least stall... "Golduck! Psych Up!" I called out. Golduck looked and focused. Suddenly, like with the Scyther, it too had about as many illusive copies as the Scyther. This was a standstill...it was just the matter of who's going to move first...

For once, Scyther was caught off guard.
"...It can copy those too!?" Aden spoke up. This wasn't good. "Scyther, are you willing to listen a bit more now?"
No response, but this could be best seen as an effort to avoid being given away.
"If you are, pump yourself up. Focus Energy!"He felt he was starting to understand Scyther a bit. Getting a mild feel for how he wanted to go about things. It just came down to a matter of listening...
Which this time, he didn't do. He stared down Golduck, eyeing to see when the "group" started its move.

He stared down Golduck, eyeing to see when the "group" started its move. I crossed my arms. That Scyther wasn't listening to Aden at all in this regard. Still, I'm still left with the problem of getting Scyther exposed and I got no other way to stall him right at the moment. I decided to take a chance... "Golduck! Zen Headbutt!" I shouted. Golduck and its illusive copies then sprang outward toward each one of the Scythers. Though, as Aden and I would know, there was only one real one of Golduck and only one real one of Scyther. Though just only a split second before the attack went to go strike air or the Scyther, the Golduck illusions faded and Golduck gathered a focused bit of Celestial chi on the peak of its head. Golduck then made one hard leap of faith head first.

There was a second before all three of the Scythers were sent backwards, two of the copies vanishing. The real one that remained managed to stop himself, on his knees and a scythe on the ground.
"(Ngh. Lucky shot.)"
"Scyther..."
"(What now!?)"
"I think I get it now. You're experienced, you know several moves. But you don't have any discipline with it. You're attacking, but only out of instinct. You could do a lot better. You have two scythes, so why use one?"
"(...)" Suddenly, Scyther was struck dumb.
"You heard me. I said you're not as good as you think you are, yet. Want to change that? Then get out there and fight!"
"(As soon as I can get back up.)" That Zen Headbutt hurt.

That Zen Headbutt hurt. "Golduck..." The Golduck was still raring to go. With little damage taken thus far, he had the upper hand. For how long though, that remains to be seen. Aden apparently figured out that Scyther's fatal flaw, just as I had during the course of this battle. I just wonder now if Aden can actually capitalize. That said, I'd give his Scyther a chance to get up first, providing it can after two brutal shots like that, one from the waterfall and the other from the Zen Headbutt. "Well, I'll give him this much, he's got quite the tenacity." I said. "Not many can actually stay up from something like that with all considering." I said.

"Yeah, I'm surprised about that one."
"(I can hear you two.)"
"Hey, it's only an observation. But, to my point. I can help you on this. Both of us can. But you're gonna have to work on that arrogance, and be willing to listen a little. I'm not exactly fond of completely unruly Pokemon, and you don't want to know what happened to the last one."
"(And what was that?)"
"It involved my dad and a tree."
Suddenly, Scyther had doubts that he'd want to know more. "(So, listen to you for now? Fine.)"
"In that case... Swords Dance!" Aden figured that'd be a simple move in itself. He'd be surprised if Scyther didn't know that. Needless to say, he was glad when Scyther got up and started swinging his scythes, finishing by raising them in an X pattern.
He was a little more ready now. Hurt, but ready.
