Mat found herself hoisted up out of the hole and put on solid sand. Well, as solid as sand could be. She shook her fur free of the little grains of nastiness and spit out a few more from her mouth. Ugh. Sand was stupid. She looked around as rocks were suggested, moving over to stand next to Keegan.
"Over there!" she said, pointing to a little rock formation. "I bet we can get some from that thing and move them over here." She took off, eager to get the biggest rock she could find and roll it over. She picked one that was probably twice her size and, with a determined look on her face, put both front paws against it and started to push.
Of course, it didn't budge.
She grunted softly, her back legs sinking into the sand as she pushed. "This is really hard," she panted, little claws leaving marks on the stone.

The wild dog grumbled. "Were you not listening to what I said? We needed the supplies for a friend. This wasn't supposed to be a big undertaking. I'm kind of a big deal, you know," she snipped, raising her head as best she could against the rising waters. It seemed ego was not lacking in her, even in the compromised state. "I steal things for people. I coulda had that medicine in and out of your pride without anyone even noticing. It was Scheherazade who made this a 'oddamn military operation."
She snorted, her eyes turning back to the lion on top of her. "What are you made of rocks?"
She looked towards Ayla. "Well, I suspect she ran back to where we said we'd meet up. Where the others are," she spat out a small clump of blood. One of her teeth had broken. "Could be ah...good information for you all to have, if you get my drift."
Before someone even tried to threaten, she showed her teeth. "And don't think beatin it out of me is going to work."

Nkera was truly annoyed that he’d allowed the butterfly-marked hyena – Skall, his name seemed to be – to escape so he’d felt mildly relieved by the fact that the black hyena seemed just as upset, saying that his escape would “ruin the plan”. But now she was gone as well, probably going to fix the plan whatever that was, and at this point Nkera felt even less inclined to listen to a minuscule canine talking back at them. He wasn’t Firekin by birth and while he had the size to match them, he still felt pressured into fitting in and acting the part. He wanted to take action but he wasn’t sure if how they should handle this situation.
“I wonder about that.” He said flatly, eyeing the wild dog with a sneer, her last words grating heavily on his nerves. b***h. Did she expect them to negotiate with them? The weak little invaders who had dared to cross the border to steal from them? If they allowed something like that to go unpunished, he wondered what others would come to steal next time. Pretty soon, the Firekin would be called weak and the borders would mean nothing!
“She can’t be the only one who knows where the others are.” He eyed the pinned-down hyenas and dogs with cold and calculating eyes, searching for an obvious weak link. Frankly speaking, he was creative enough to think of many ways that could make them all talk but he decided to keep them for himself for now.

"We need to get moving!" Morag called to the others from where she held her hyena down, water or no. She could breath, with a little stretching.
"If we know where that one is going, we need to go after her. We could have that dog lead us and we can let her go once we make it to the hostages. We can even allow Ea to help the sick one, as long as there is no funny business from these canines..." She said as she bared her teeth at her captive. There was really nothing good coming from the creature she held... not one word she understood came from her mouth. It would be easier to listen, though, if she weren't squirming so much.

Azar glanced at Morag and snorted, normally cool and calm Azar was a little fired up over the situation, she was also ready to move. "I agree lets get going." Her gaze turned toward the hyena and she shook her head. "I don't really trust those mutts, we still don't know where they've come from, and how they knew about our medicine is pretty interesting." She rolled her eyes at the creature before taling once again. "Shall we get moving?"

Kosuke frowned, then stepped back. "Morag's right. We need to move if we want to find out where Ea and the cubs are. So how about a deal? You all just lead us back to where you're meeting, and we won't beat you any further." It was a nice and simple a exchange, wasn't it? They didn't have to TELL them anything, just SHOW them.

Alya scoffed. Oh, she caught her drift. "I can't say we make a habit of making deals with trespassers and thieves," she snapped, clearly becoming unamused and impatient with the whole situation. The others were right; they had little time to waste. "But if you're cooperative perhaps we won't kill you. Maybe even give you a chance at saving your friend. I'd say that'd be more than generous, on our part." The dog had little time to answer, at this point. There could be other ways of finding the hyena, cooperation would simply be the easiest for everyone.

The wild dog found herself going through a lot of emotions in those short few seconds. How dare they think they could get better information from any of those muts! And then, moderate relief. She got a smug smile on her face, which was difficult considering her position. "Fine. But we'd better move quickly. Scheherazade, she's the crazy one."
The dog paused, looking over her former cohorts. She eyed two in particular, but said nothing. "You all better scram else they'll finish the job. We didn't sign up to die."
Not like poor Sarakh, anyways! Once Nini heard about that, she doubted the poor thing would last long. Once she had been let up, the wild dog shook off her coat and snapped her jaw a few times to work out the strain. She was not made for combat. "Name's Marzi!" she introduced briefly, then looked up the scale wall. Her eyes fell back to her friends, and then everyone else.
They'd need to move quick. "Alright, lets go!" the wild dog said, not giving anyone much time to secure the others. She scattered off down the canyon- and by the pace she was going, it didn't seem she would be too sorry if she lost.
arrow Better follow!
Roll a dice 1-20. It will take a roll of at least eight to catch up and get to the meeting spot.
If no one can roll at least an eight, this will be bad luck indeed.

"Very well," Huozin answered the wild dog a bit sharply as he followed after her. He really couldn't say he was surprised by their prisoner's behavior - if these wild dogs were trustworthy, they wouldn't have been hired to steal from the Firekin.
He put on a burst of speed to reach the female in question, slowing down just before he overtook her. You couldn't follow from in front, after all.
Still, he didn't trust her as far as he could throw her, and intended to keep a close eye out.

He pitied the dog and whomever her sick friend was, but only a little. Invading their lands and trying to steal medicine just wasn't the way to go, so Yayuka had little sympathy. And then the whole taking hostages thing just made everything worse!
He didn't have much to contribute to the questioning, but would be damned if he let that wild dog get away once she started running. There was a brief moment of hesitation as he considered what to do with the hyena, but gave it's head a rough shove into the sand and water — as a parting gift — and rushed off after the wild dog. He managed to keep up well enough.
-
Keegan hurried along after Mat, but widened her eyes in surprise at the other cub's choice of rock. Did she really hope they could move that? No way!
... But, on the other hand, maybe they could. Keegan didn't want to be the cub of little faith. So with a shrug, she went over to help, and didn't make much of a difference. "Yeah, it is." She scowled. No good! "Maybe if we dig in front of it!" Or go for a smaller rock.

Azar was very happy to know that they were going to start moving. They were going to get going and that made her pretty happy. She flicked her tail around behind her and watched as the canine started to get going. She prepared herself and then started to scale the wall, she was being as careful as she could, but as she looked up she noticed the creature going pretty fast. She made a small face but started to trot as quickly as she could behind the canine making sure to keep up with it the best that she could.

The hyena zjarr had pinned was on it's feet, looking dazed but swiftly regaining his senses. the black and white female kept her ears on the conversation, but her eyes on her prisoner. At the news that they were letting these others go and following the wild dog, she frowned. She wasn't sure that it was wise to let this treasure trove of information loose within the pride's lands... they had no guarantee that they'd do as they said and flee the territory! The others were already moving, so she gave the ugly canine male a heavy swat to the head. "Beat it, or I'll hunt you down." She growled menacingly, then set off at a lope after the one they were following. She was a lioness of few words, but she meant every word she said. She had his scent embedded in her memory, and if she caught even a whiff of it on the pride's lands again, she'd find him and kill him remorselessly.

As the wild dog took off, Kosuke frowned. He doubted they'd lead them awry, and would take them exactly where they needed to go. If they FAILED to do so... Well, they'd find out the problem with that. The dust-red lion scrambled up the canyon wall after the dog, soon reaching level ground. Even with the climb, he took off after the dogs and hyenas, keeping a decent pace and them in sight. Soon they'd find out what exactly was going on... Soon.

“We’re just letting them get away with this?” Nkera snarled, looking at the hyenas with an expression of pure hate. He didn’t care about their reasons or their motivations. They had already trespassed, stolen and taken a Firekin hostage. They’d also attacked first after being caught and there was still the matter of possibly missing cubs and the black hyena’s mysterious plan. Their crimes were just too great and it didn’t feel right to just let them go, regardless of their current cooperation – a cooperation that had been forced upon them.
He understood that the missing Medic was a priority. He was also concerned about the fact that there might be cubs wherever the psycho hyena had ran off to and that they didn’t even know how many hyenas might be waiting there for them. Still, he lingered behind, growling and swatting at every non-lion that got too close as they were backing away from the lions. He hated the idea that their actions might go unpunished, that the lions had to allow them to leave in order to follow the wild dog, trusting that she would lead them to the others. As far as Nkera was concerned, the proper punishment for at least half their crimes was death.
Priorities.
“If I ever see you near the border again…” With a frustrated roar he turned his back on the beasts and started making the climb, following at the tail of the group.

Following the wild dog was hard with his weak leg. Mwale'kono kept going on sheer adrenaline, following her and the others of the group down the canyon. He may not have been in the best physical condition for the job, but his determination and inner strength helped him to carry his body through and he eventually managed to catch up with the dog and the others. Huffing and grunting a little, he was glad that they were able to get moving. They were one step closer to where they needed to be.
