She tilted her head a bit. "If I can ask. The word being 'WAS'. Is it really all in the past or are you still?" She asked.
"...." Aden apparently gets thrown off guard from the concussive recoil from his own attacks. Its like humans firing a gun. Its not exactly something they want to lose control of. A matter of balance. But just to be sure on that though. "Alright then...good, Aden. Next, Solarbeam. Make a charge." I said.

But I try and keep busy so I don't dwell on it. won't do me any good. I have kept moving forward, but yeah, it is the one thing that has kept me anchored to my past. I wish at times it wasn't so. That I could just let it all go. Move on for good. But there are some wounds, when they are so confusing, so inexplicable, that they cannot be so easily healed." Ryan explains is a calm and steady tone. He knew this wasn't going to be the last time he was going to have this discussion.

"Hm. Right." Something he might have a little balance with, Aden thought. He was surprised from the power that Heat Wave gave after the boost, but this one was something he figured would give recoil. That's what he kept telling himself as he charged up, building up what fire and earthen chis he could.
While it didn't get to the point of leaving a ring of flames threatening to spark around Aden, the attack itself formed a decent sized ball in his hands. The hands reared back as if bracing for impact, before thrusting them outward and letting the attack fly. The recoil was still enough to push him back, though.

She really didn't know what to say to that. Though that left to question, which she is almost positive that it has been asked before by someone. "Is that your only motivation for continuing like you are?" She asked.
I knew it. Aden doesn't know how to stand up against his own recoil from his attacks. Maybe a side lesson wouldn't hurt. Because I kind of had this problem when I learned how to use Ice Beam initially. "Alright, here. Look. Unless you want to fly like a rocket from your own attack, which a lot of the times will not help your cause at all, you got to learn how to brace yourself against your own attack. It's simple, really." I said. I really was charging a hard, powerful Ice Beam, just to demonstrate. "Back foot planted. It DOES NOT MOVE." I said. "Rear back for the charge, thrust forward as so when firing." I said, moving in one fluid motion, sending the Ice Beam in front of me and fired it off. The recoil was not so obvious like Aden's though, other than the initial concussion that came from my palms, that Aden may or may not have felt. "As so."

I have become stronger and a more intelligent trainer since then. I am becoming who I need to be. I still have room to grow, but what i do will be for me and improving myself." Ryan says in a steady tone, but smiles at the end.

"Huh... I might have to try that someday." Aden said. Not about the bracing himself. The idea of flying like a rocket sounded like it'd have its uses. But the sudden concussion from the blast was enough to get him back to the matter at hand.
Rearing back and thrusting was already natural as it was. Though, maybe doing that bit of planting might be a smart move. The last thing he'd want to do, at least normally, is fire off an attack and fly through a truck or something. "Hm..." He figured to give it a try, charging Solarbeam again. This time, though, he made it a point to keep one foot back against the ground as he reared back.
Once he was ready, he let off the attack again, quickly finding out that it made a bit of a difference. He still had some recoil; there was no avoiding that. But the movement from it was more subdued.

"That's good to know, Ryan. It would have been bad if you were still going like how you were." She said. "I take it that you have been through quite a bit with Blizzard and this bunch, right?"
"Better. Much better. Now how was that to you? You noticed something right there and then, huh?" I asked him. "The same trick can be said of your Heat Wave..." I said, getting a bit more distance. I braced myself, wings spread, and there, I unleashed a forward focused Blizzard attack. Its no Heat Wave, but the effect is all the same.

And I have no doubt that things will keep on being interesting and allow me to continue to my own unique path." Ryan says. The profoundness of that statement would not be realized by the young man for quite awhile. He had no idea what was in store for him.

"That... might be a little trickier." Aden noted. He wasn't so sure how to handle this one, no less a result of Heat Wave being done differently. But he figured it wouldn't be too difficult. This led to him calming himself, working to expand what fire chi was still in him. He braced himself as well as he could, soon letting off the attack.
Just as with the Solarbeam, the recoil was somewhat subdued. But not quite as well. Just as well; it still warmed him up after the chill left by the Blizzard attack.

"Heh, I can just about tell, almost." She said. She looked at her wrist, checking the time on her watch. "Well, I think I may want to head back to the gym. Miltank may be expecting food by now." she said.
"Better. Much better. Now...with that out of the way, now to screw with you a little...Solarbeam with your Calm Mind." I told him. If he thought his Solarbeam had kick before...heh. He'll freak over this probably if he does it right. "Calm Mind works with more than just your Heat Wave, you know."

I was nice talking to you again Whitney. I will see you whenever Aden challenges you again." Ryan says with a nod and a smile.

"Screw with me? Um... okay." He kinda doubted it'd screw with him that much, though he'd give it a shot. Aden charged up again as he let Calm Mind take its hold, the usual-sized ball forming quickly. But, it wouldn't quite end there this time.
Instead, it grew. More and more. It was enough to catch Aden by surprise. "Uh...!" Thankfully, he didn't lose the charge. He was a little wary of firing the Solarbeam now, but he figured he might as well. He tried to brace himself as well as he could, doing as before.
He would also learn that when something kicked, it kicked. The harsh attack fired, finding its way to a tree in the distance. It also, despite his efforts, had enough force to knock Aden off his feet. "No wonder I left that hole back there..." He muttered.

Whitney left Ryan, hands behind her back, feeling a bit more carefree than she did coming in.
"Not bad. Just next time. One? Stay on your feet. And two? We're on a beach. The sea is THAT way." I said, pointing towards the water.

He goes over to his pack and pulls out his old badge container. Yeah, he had it with him. He then starts to polish them up as they look really bad after several years of just sitting there.

"I was trying to. Didn't expect that kind of force..." Then, he looked at where Blizzard pointed. "...oh."
