Name: Rotem - Cert | Full size Image
Meaning: ???
Rank: King
Pride: En Gedi
Mate: Adara - Image
Personality & History Summery:
Rotem is only two years on the throne. He was the youngest of his father's second litter but gained quick favor in his father's eyes, eventually rising to the rank of warrior chief by the time he reached adulthood. He was betrothed to Adara as soon as she proved herself a worthy lioness. Prior to his actual succession the lioness was impregnated. However, three of the cubs didn't survive the premature birth. Only Jaron lived. After his father passed on, Rotem became the new king. Once more, Adara bore a litter for him, this time each of the cubs survived.

He has a brutish build, a strong jaw, and piercing silver eyes. A proud warrior and a strong leader for the pride. His chosen totem was an eagle by the name of Adi. A female.

Personality-wise he's been considered to be a large child in many respects. He delights in his training but doesn't take it nearly as seriously as his close friend, Eyal. In fact, he almost makes a sport out of trying to get the warrior chief to laugh. However, he has a good sense of when to take things seriously. He cares for the pride like he would if each of the member was directly related to him. Thus far, he shows no particular favor towards any of his offspring, and thus has paid no more attention to one than another.

**Note**
Since I originally opened up the pride concept, I’ve changed a few things up so I’m not stepping on any other pride’s toes. Be sure to read over everything carefully!~

History:
"My beloved is unto me as a cluster of henna flowers in the vineyards of Ein Gedi"

En-Gedi is actually the name of a spring which flows from a height of 656 feet above the Dead Sea. In biblical times, King David sought refuge from Saul at this very location. In those days, it was not uncommon for wild beasts such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs to live their lives either as icons of wealth or as a means of punishing criminals. When the city was abandoned, these beasts were left behind. The lions who once dwelt within the lion’s dens managed to escape, the leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas who had lived as pets also escaped their prisons and bonds. A quarrel soon erupted between the lions from the dens and the beasts who had lived as companions of man, both sought to claim the territory for themselves.

It was Lewe, the god of peace, who calmed their hearts. The many species who shared the territory came to terms with one another and in their union, the pride established themselves and to the present day has managed to fend off any threat of invasion from the outside. For 500 years, En Gedi remained mostly untouched by man’s hands. The city slowly crumbled into a ruin inhabited only by the beasts who had once been confined by those very walls.

By the fourth generation following the appearance of the god, the belief that every lion had a totem creature began to influence their religion. Every creature had a counter part that was a physical representation of their soul. The belief was founded when their king at the time stayed his paw from slaying an ibex during a hunt. The lion kept the young grazer at his side for many years, much to the pride’s confusion.

One day the lion found himself trapped in a pit that had been set generations past in order to add to the collection of the lion’s pits, long abandoned but functional. The ibex returned to the pride and alerted them of their king’s plight. With efforts of the pride, the king was freed. Since then, it became tradition for the lions of the pride to tame with a familiar of their own. It became a belief that the nature of the familiar was the true nature of the one that had tamed it as theirs.

The tradition still stands, and often times the type of familiar will determine the tasks given to the tamer. For instance, those bonded with a swift beast such as a cheetah or a gazelle are given the task of hunters or scouts. Those bonded with more powerful creatures such as hyenas or wildebeest are warriors. To the pride, the taming of a familiar is a significant event, a passage into adulthood, and a tribute to peace itself.

In the seventh generation of rulers following the god’s appearance, two heirs were born to the king and queen. The brothers were constantly competing against one another, they even both succeeded in taming a hyena as their familiar. When it came time for the elderly king to pass his throne down, the brothers were forced into a duel. Micha came out as the victor.

Humiliated, Boullous refused to serve under his brother. Rather than live under his brother, he and a handful of those closest to him left to begin their own pride. The pride became known as the Ti-Hin.

The Ti-Hin were quickly forgotten to the En Gedi though they lived with the same traditions and shared the Dead Sea’s coastline. The only other established colony to share the coastline- at least those of note -were a clan of leopards, who called themselves the Aba-Haraki, who’s ancestors were trapped alongside the lions and cheetahs to serve man. The leopard troupe, in recent days, has also become forgotten.

God/Goddess:

Lewe: God of Peace:
Unbeknownst to the pride, Lewe perished in the recent earthquake. He was rebirthed in the form of Li-Wei.

Religion, beliefs, and traditions:
- The pride believes in a ‘great creator’ who is the father of all the gods and goddesses. Much the way the Native Americans believe in a ‘great spirit’ who is a part of but still separate from all other spirits- the great creator is one being, but in everything at the same time.
- Lewe granted the pride the peace that has made them strong, much of their tributes are done in his name.
- As a tribute to their ancient union and to peace itself, every member of the pride must tame a familiar of their own before they are considered an adult. Herd beast, fellow predator, avian, even rodents and primates are taken as trained familiars.
- The Dead Sea is referred to as the sea of the gods. To drink the water of the sea is to bring death, however, the pride will often nurse wounds or bathe themselves in the waters.
- A mated pair is celebrated much the way a married couple is. It's frowned upon to take more than one partner. The pride has been known to seek outsiders to mate with to keep from inbreeding.
- If a member wishes to mate with a creature of the same gender, they're asked to leave. The pride is a believer in peace through balance. Male and female, dark and light, death and life, etc.
- Outsiders are often welcomed into the pride if they claim peaceful intentions.
- Any member is free to leave when they feel they're called to do so.
- When a pride member dies, their body is buried facing the sea of the gods.
- Newly born cubs are often taken to the sea of the gods to be bathed and blessed by the king of the pride.
- Adolescent members of the pride must find and tame a familiar of their own before they are accepted into adulthood.

Location Info:
The Ruins of En Gedi is -very- far from the other prides/territories in SOA, so there would be -very- little chance that they have even heard rumors of the other prides and it’s very unlikely any of the prides even know such a region exists unless they’ve heard tell via travelers.

The En Gedi ruins sit on near the dead sea- which the pride sees as a sacred location.

Climate:
The Dead Sea's climate offers year-round sunny skies and dry air with low pollution. It has less than 100 millimetres (3.94 in) mean annual rainfall and a summer average temperature between 32 and 39 °C (90-102 °F). Winter average temperatures range between 20 and 23 °C (68-74 °F). The region has weakened ultraviolet radiation, particularly the UVB (erythrogenic rays), and an atmosphere characterized by a high oxygen content due to the high barometric pressure. The shore is the lowest dry place in the world.[7] Proximity to the sea affects temperatures nearby because of the moderating effect a large body of water has on climate. During the winter months, sea temperatures tend to be higher than land temperatures, and vice versa during the summer months. This is the outcome of slow penetration of the sun's rays into the sea, which is a huge mass that takes a long time to warm up.

The region's climate and the unique conditions created by its low elevation have made it a popular center for several types of therapies:
* Climatotherapy: Treatment which exploits local climatic features such as temperature, humidity, sunshine, barometric pressure and special atmospheric constituents.
* Heliotherapy: Treatment that exploits the biological effects of the sun's radiation.
* Thalassotherapy: Treatment that exploits bathing in Dead Sea water.
(Taken from the Dead Sea article on Wikipedia)

Culture:

The En Gedi are generally peaceful lions rich in history and culture. Mornings begin the training of the younglings. Towards sunset, the lionesses are sent out to begin their hunt. The nights are welcomed with song and dance, stories, and the laughter of the young as they play. While they believe in peace, they understand that peace is something that must be protected. Warriors are kept sharp and scouts on constant patrol. Outsiders are brought straight to the king, queen, or warrior chief. More often than not, outsiders seeking refuge are brought into the pride as part of the family.

Gender Roles:

- Males are always of a higher status than females. A king will always rule the pride. If a king dies, the widowed queen becomes an advisor to the chosen heir. If an heir has not been selected before the time of the king’s death, the queen must decide on one.
- Females may serve as sages, advisors, huntresses, scouts, nannies, and healers. The two highest ranks that a female can achieve are, of course, queen followed by head huntress.
- Males may serve as sages, advisors, warriors, squires, or scouts. The two highest ranks that a male can achieve are, of course, king followed by warrior chief.

Age roles:
- Cubs are simply that- cubs. Youths raised by their mothers, their fathers, and the nannies of the pride.
- Juveniles begin their training as soon as their guardians allow them to. Males become squires under warriors and the warrior chief, females become squires under huntresses and the head huntress.
- Adolescents continue their training, though more directly under one appointed warrior or huntress. A select few are taken in by the warrior-chief or the head huntress. Often times, the warrior-chief chooses a successor for himself from his pupils and the head huntress will choose hers. At adolescence, both males and females are required to tame a familiar for themselves before they can move to adulthood.
- Adults, now with their tamed familiar, are given their life-long roles within the pride. Some become scouts, others become warriors or huntresses, others still become sages or mummers.

Species Roles:
- Lions are the only creatures permitted to obtain the higher ranks- king/queen, warrior chief/head huntress, heir/betrothed princess.
- Leopards, hyenas, and the few cheetahs that prove themselves may become warriors. Leopards, hyenas, and cheetahs can serve as hunters, scouts, sages, and mummers if they so choose.

Pridal Ranks:
King:
The king serves as the head of the pride. All decisions are final through him. It is the job of the king to lead, to protect, and govern the family that is his pride. While it is more common for the king to have been from the old royal line, there have been occasions where a ruler sees a cub that is not of his own as more worthy of the rank than his own offspring. The oldest offspring doesn’t necessarily win the throne by birthright either, while all royals are considered as such, it’s the most skilled and most powerful of the litter that succeeds his father. The rite of succession begins with trails chosen from the king and his advisers to test the candidate’s power, strength, and endurance. The one who accomplishes them all to the satisfactory of the king and his advisers succeeds.

The king’s role is to protect the pride. He is in charge of the warriors and establishes rank among them, often times having a significant role in the training of the young.

A good king will take council from his queen and from the elders of the pride. And while he may take their council, a wise king will make his own decisions in the end, whether or not the source(s) of his council agree.

Queen:
It’s the duty of the queen to maintain social order under her mate. She overhears any of the concerns that the pride presents and does her best to find a peaceful and equal resolve for both parties. The queen is more of a diplomatic figure, more praised for her wisdom and tact than power. It’s also the duty of the queen to head and organize the hunts of the pride. She will often select a lead huntress under her to serve in her place if she is unable to attend a hunt. She also selects nannies to raise the cubs of the top huntresses.

A queen is selected by the pride and betrothed to the successor. Queens are normally selected by their performance during hunts, their manners within the pride, and sometimes by their bloodline. A queen is often time selected during her adolescent period and must wait until a male successor is selected before she is mated.

Prince:
The princes are any male cubs birthed from the king and the queen. Like all the other cubs, they are raised by a nanny lioness rather than constantly by their mother. The royals are marked from birth to identify them apart from the others. From a young age, the princelings are brought into the warrior’s training. The king will often pay special attention to his offspring’s performance. Even if a prince does not manage succession, he bears the responsibility of defending the pride as a royal warrior.

Princess:
The princesses are any female cubs birthed from the queen and the king. Like the princes, they are marked to identify their rank above the other cubs, and like the princes, they are raised by a nanny rather than by their mother. Similar to the upbringing of a prince, the princesses will join the hunts for observation at cub hood, left with a nanny lioness to observe the hunt and learn the formations. While all females will grow under the same conditions, the queen will often put more attention in the development of her offspring’s skills than a common cub’s.

Warrior Chief:
The warrior chief is in charge of the warriors. Under the king, he’s the most accomplished fighter and answers only to the king’s orders. It’s the chief that determines rank among the warriors, unless otherwise instructed by the king.

Head Huntress:
The head huntress is in charge of the huntresses under the queen, often times a sister to the queen. In the queen’s absence, she organizes the hunts and oversees the development of the young lionesses, often assigning them their positions within the hunting party.

Sage:
Sages are often times the elder lions of the pride, or the lions born with disabilities that prevent them from carrying out their expected duties. Sages are put in charge of learning the stories, history, and songs of the pride and passing them on to the younger generations. Sages often times serve as advisors to the king and queen.

Scholar: Recently added rank
The first scholar to the pride was a strange silvery lion by the name of Maji. Eyal found the male wounded and crippled outside of his former home. Once the male was nursed back to health, it was discovered that Maji had the gifts of reading and writing. A knowledge that Rotem, the present king, saw as something that could become invaluable to the pride.

Elder:
Members of the pride who have grown too old to perform in their assigned tasks any longer. They serve a advisors to the king, story tellers, and nannies within the pride.

Warrior:
Warriors are male lions between the adolescent and adult age. From their juvenile years they’re trained by older warriors how to fight and defend their territories. While the pride is not particularly war-like, they are very aware of the fact that peace sometimes is something that must be earned and protected. The primary goal of a warrior is to protect the pride.

** Warriors are not restricted to only lions. Leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, etc. within the pride can become warriors. It is restricted to males, however, unless permission is granted by the royals.**

Huntress:
The huntresses are female lions between adolescent and adult age. From their juvenile years they’re trained by older huntresses how to hunt. They learn to work in formations and are often assigned positions based on their individual talents.

**Huntresses are not restricted to only lions. Leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, etc. within the pride can become huntresses. It is restricted to females, however.**

Scout:
Scouts are normally non-lions. Hyenas, wild dogs, leopards, and cheetahs mainly. They’re in charge of keeping watch on the pride’s boarders and informing the royals of any significant change in weather, migration patterns of nearby herds, and of any incoming threats.

Squire:
Squires are juveniles and adolescents training under a warrior or huntress.

Mummer:
Performers, singers, and dancers that recount the stories, legends, and history of the pride.

Youth:
The youths of the pride.

Familiar:
Familiars are the creatures that pride members ‘tame’ to themselves. They serve as constant companions and normally serve within the same rank as them. Familiars are often times obtained in the form of a pact between the two. Grazers, for instance, offer their service in exchange from protection from hunts. Predators often receive parts of the kills for their loyalty, as do winged creatures. All Familiars are protected from the hunt. To kill a Familiars will result in severe punishment ranging between exile and death.

Rotem | King |
Played by: Thalion

A female.

Personality-wise he's reserved to speak and slow to anger. He cares for the pride like he would if each of the member was directly related to him. Thus far, he shows no particular favor towards any of his offspring, and thus has paid no special attention to any of their upbringing.

Adara | Queen |
Played by: Dagi

Adara was always a small lioness. She was the only cub born to her young parents. The strain of her birth removed her mother from the world and left her in her father's care. While, like the other cubs of the pride, she was primarily mothered by a nanny lioness, her father paid special attention to her development. As she grew, she became more and more determined to reward her father's devotion.

She was a fierce competitor for the rank of head huntress. While smaller than most of the lionesses in the hunting party, she was swift and aggressive with her strikes. It left her coat dotted with scars from her hunts, but as a reward for her efforts, she became the youngest lioness to make head huntress.

Jaron | Prince |
Played by: Thalion

Jaron is the oldest offspring of Rotem and Adar and the only cub to survive their first litter, perhaps because he was the largest. Now a juvenile, he eagerly trains with those of his age for the honor of becoming the warrior-chief. He's very aware that he may not become the successor of the pride but works hard to gain an upper hand over his younger siblings. While headstrong in his ambitions, he's furiously protective of his siblings, allowing only himself to torment them.

Eran | Prince |
Played by: iPao v2

He‘s the youngest of Rotem and Adara, born blind, he‘s dependent on his siblings when it comes to everyday living.

Eyal | Warrior Cheif |
Played by:Randy2Love

Eyal became Warrior Chief after his best friend Rotem had moved to King The two had actually fought for the privilege to be the chief but Eyal lost, though it was a close match. The male was hoping to win Adara's attention. However, even when his best friend married and bore children with Adara, he remained beside Rotem, supporting him. He often lends his advice to the King. Eyal thinks there's no greater honor then to die in battle or during a hunt. He takes pride in his work and won't let any warrior slack off.

His garnet, Silglit was found during his rigorous training that he began once he'd lost the match. The small mammal, though frightened, was quick to notice that Eyal had worn himself completely ragged and into dehydration. Unable to leave him in such a mess, the garnet began to bring him water and the two befriended each other quickly. They both agreed that Silglit was his totem and they stuck together ever since. Silglit acts as a counter to Eyal's sometimes over bearing nature.

Eyal's personality is strict. He demands perfection in his warriors but becomes close friends with all of them. He understands jokes pertaining to war and even instigates some himself, while other jokes may escape him. He's all about the battle and even likes to try assisting on the hunt. Rotem is the only lion to ever see him as a true lion rather then a fighter. His kind and compassionate nature are hidden away in order to make him flawless in battle. He will defend his position with his life.

Maji | Scholar |
Played by: Thalion

Formally the prince of the Mistweaver pride, Maji guarded the lands and cared for the few inhabitants that it supported for years. When a drought gripped the land, he along with two other males remained while the others fled. When Dama, his half sister returned with a handful of lions at her back, Maji was forced from his position and pushed to live on the boarder of the lands, labeled a b*****d. Maji left the lands in pursuit of a firekin who had invaded the valley and kidnapped one of the cubs. Maji was nearly killed in confronting the male. When Eyal found him, he pleaded for the male to show him to his homeland. Now an accepted member of the En Gedi, Maji seeks to forget his past and start a new life. In thanks for the pride's willingness to accept him, Maji's shared with them his knowledge of a written language.

Kingu'Jua | Sage |
Played by: Andranis

The son of a mighty warrior and a skilled huntress, Kingu proved a disappointment when he failed his first six hunts as an adolescent. He showed more skill in trying to analyze everything left behind by the humans that inhabited the ruins before the pride. As he grew older, he became more intrigued, until he one day left to see if any still even roamed the lands. He returned, as an adult, with stories of humans far different from the ones passed down in stories. He never spoke of his home pride to other animals in his travels.

Rajua | Nanny |
Played by: NovaCracker

Rajua was born sired by an unknown male to a female in a rogue of brown lions-- the darker your pelt, the better. Her father had alot of white, this Rajua was born with white markings, forever sealing her in hir pride of birth as a half 'ghost' lion. As a cub she
befriended one such white lion, and was happy until caught. His family was killed, and like her father, Rajua's mother was killed for raising a 'dangerious' cub. Rajua was beaten-- badly, and many times after that, and was no better than a slave. She finally left-- a timid, shaken lioness with nowhere to go, too afraid to go home. She's settled to showing subserviance to strange lions, which while it gained her a protector as she wanders, it also garnered her a night with a rogue, much as her mother-- and lives to tend to with it. Currently Rajua is wandering, making friends, and simply looking for a place that is safe. Aside hunting, Rajua knows no combat ability. Hence, Sairin currently travels with her until he's sure she's safe.

Zoran | Squire |
Played by: Teh Angel Yuna

Zoran is the son of a Rogue(mother) and Pridelander(father). He's a bright, hapy go lucky, rambonctious cub, who is quite adventurous, and it is in being so, he has strayed from his beloved family.

Huan'Ju | Squire |
Played by: Andranis

One of Rajua's daughters, Huan looks more like a 'ghost' than the rest of her family. This doesn't appear to bother her, though, and she follows her mother without question. She shows no fear of those around her, greeting any stranger she meets as if she's known them her whole life.

Aveil | Youth |
Played by: NovaCracker

Youth. XD She'll earn her rank as an adol. <3
Backstory: (A little history. Doesn't have to be huge.) Aveil was born to Rajua after a one night stand. The little cub is very self concious of her appearance, both physical and social. Still, she's not easy to antagonize-- prefering words and a warning swat to fighting. She knows not her mother's history, only that when mother is scared, there might not be a reason.

Ka'ohu | Youth |
Played by: Kimaria

Ka'ohu was born to a mistweaver and a rogue. As such she lost the traditional grey pelt of her kind, gaining the chestnut shade of her father. It is with her parents that she know lives in the roguelands, along with her other siblings.

Asenath | Youth |
Played by: Randy2Love

Eyal's Daughter.

Magari | Youth |
Played by: [Lightwolf]

Eyal's Daughter.

Tesni | Youth |

August 20 - 21________________________________
Eyal:
Eyal had been servaying the pride for the longest time. There was something missing. Something so important but he couldn't put his claw on it. It had just hit him the other day when he'd seen the Prince, who was well on his way to becoming an adult. Cubs. The pride was missing cubs. How could they establish themselves if they had no females?

It is with this idea that Eyal approached Rotem, seeking an audience. "My King... I would like to bring something to your attention." He started, sitting down just to the side of his old best friend.

Rotem:
Rotem was amusing himself with something small in between his paws. A small trinket from the strange stone sculptures that the pride had made their home. It had been covered by dirt and dust when he'd found it, and much of the last hour had been spent rubbing it along his fur to clean it off.

As Eyal approached he sat upright and covered it with his paw. "Eyal, what's got you looking so grim?"

Eyal:
Eyal gave his King an odd look. Was there EVER a moment he was doing something... un-kingly? He sighed and ran a paw over his face before taking on a stance true to his position. "Sir, I've been through the pride and I've come to a ... enlightening conclusion." He glances around to make sure he and Rotem are alone before he gets closer. "Sir, we are lacking in clubs and in females to further the pride."

Rotem:
Rotem shifted himself around and sat himself upright, his shoulders rolling back. It was apparently 'proper' to sit up straight. "Ah is that so?" He frowned a bit. "I suppose we ...are pretty small. What did you have in mind? I know you."

Eyal:
Eyal allowed a bit of pride to enter his voice. "Well I do... Have something in mind." He stood and started to move forward gesturing to himself. "Well, I going to suggest that I go out and ... find appropriate females and return with cubs for the pride to raise."

Rotem:
Rotem smirked a bit, "Eyal...if you were looking to court a lady and start a family, you didn't need my permission to do so."

Eyal:
"Start a family?" He snorts and holds up his head. "My King..." He says lowering his voice to a softer volume. "I wish no such thing! Starting a family is the last thing on my mind. I just wish to further along the pride. Wouldn't you like it if your sons had someone to court when they are of age?"

Rotem:
"Indeed I would. They're turning out to be quite the lookers." He sighed and glanced to one side. "But...haven't you ever thought of raising your own little ones? New little warriors?"

Eyal: (11:43:40 PM): Eyal cast a glance, that Rotem could probably recognize as a glare but to others would be a mild look of dislike, to his King. "No. In order for that to happen one has to experience love. Love is a warriors downfall. Besides, what would I do with a bunch of brats? All they are is a necessity to the pride." He snorted and looked head out at the pride. "My job is to aid you in the pride's health. As it stands we need more outside females to ensure our pride remains healthy. This has nothing to do about my wants or my needs."

Rotem: (11:45:22 PM): "Hm." Rotem got up to all fours and flicked his little token out to one side. "Come on, take a walk with me." The lion tipped his head to one side and started down the cracked steps of the ruin.

Eyal: (11:47:40 PM): The salmon maned lion waited respectfully before padding after his king. "What is you wish sire?" He questioned, now back to his eager to please voice. He hated to loose his temper. Control made a good chief. He just hated to see the pride fall to pieces over such a simple manner.

Rotem: (11:56:52 PM): Rotem paced out to a small outcropping of stone that overlooked the waterfall. "...this is where I fist saw Adara. She was young and so full of life. I knew at that moment that I would do anything to prove myself to her." He glanced sidelong to his friend, "Love can be a weakness, but it can also give us power..."

Eyal: (11:58:35 PM): Eyal stared at the waterfall with something of a jealousy. "Are you indicating that is how you won our fight, My King?" He asked keeping the bitterness out of his voice. "I was simply not as strong as I thought I was. A short coming, that should we spar again, will not be a problem. Love is an emotion and in battle all emotions must be put aside. That is how you survive."

Rotem: (12:01:58 AM): "It gives you a reason to fight, a reason to live on when all else is lost." He smiled apologetically. "My friend... love has many degrees. The love you feel for a mate, the love for your children, the love for a friend..." He looked out once more, "And the love for a homeland. I believe you act out of love. You just...express it in strange ways."

Eyal: (12:05:51 AM): "My reason to fight is my own." He stated then glanced at Rotem, catching his eyes then looked forward. His ears flattened as he stared deeply into the depths of the water where it crashed. "The only thing I love, sir, is my duty to protect this pride. It is my reason for living and will be the only reason I have for living. Even if this pride somehow failed us, I would never stop fighting for it. I didn't come to ask you for advice on my love life, Sire. I came to get permission for my quest."

Rotem: (12:10:14 AM): He smiled a bit and gave a slow nod, "You have my permission... I trust you, and your every action." He nudged his shoulder with one of his paws, a friendly jab. "Everything happens for a reason, Eyal. Keep that in mind. Our numbers have thinned over the recent generations. Perhaps there's some out there that would need a home."

Eyal: (12:13:37 AM): "Thank you sir..." Eyal responded with a sigh. He shrugged Rotem's paw off and started to leave the outcropping. He turned his head to look back at his friend. "I will do my best to choose the strongest, My King." He paused, tail flickering, as if waiting for his old friend. His green eyes turned toward where the sun set and he felt a strange urgency to run. He felt a sense of freedom. "Will you be safe without me, My Lord?"

Rotem: (12:18:08 AM): Rotem smirked and threw his chest out. "Of course! When have I ever needed a nanny?" He jabbed playfully. "I expect great things out of you, my friend."

Eyal: (12:21:59 AM): "The question is, when is the time when you HAVEN'T needed one?" He returned without missing a beat. The second half of Rotem's comment made him quiet down. The greened eyed male had been distant lately and it seemed the comment had caused it to happen again. "My King... if I should not return from my quest... The pride will go on without me. You should as well."

Rotem: (12:24:54 AM): He rolled his eyes, "This pride will go looking for you. That's the nice thing about a little place like this." He turned a bit, "We're family. All of us."

Eyal: (12:35:23 AM): Eyal sat down and watched the sun starting to die down in the distance. "There's no need for such. You'd only put the pride in danger. If you're going to be that way, I suppose I have no choice but to return." He casts a look back at Rotem that could almost be a smile before glancing back at the sunset, his pelt accented by the colors. "Remember when we were cubs? That old lion had us convinced us that if we roared at the sunset it would make us more powerful... You always roared the loudest, didn't you, Rotem?" He questioned using the other male's real name for the first time in the two years he'd been on the throne.

Rotem: (12:47:45 AM): Rotem chuckled as he settled himself down against the stone of the out cropping. "I couldn't speak for hours after that. Which...might have been the old guy's plan all along." He flicked his tail, his smirk spreading across his maw. It was about time Eyal lightened up with the formalities.

Eyal: (12:49:19 AM): Eyal chuckled slightly. "Probably was... We were always bugging him about something..." He trailed off then shook his head. "I'll be leaving tomorrow at dawn. I won't return until I have a litter worthy of the pride."

Rotem: (12:50:24 AM): "Just remember what I told you, Eyal." His tone hardened slightly. "We are a family... we are not looking to take others, but to welcome them in."

Eyal: (12:51:35 AM): Eyal snorted. "And what exactly is that supposed to mean, Sire?" He questioned narrowing his eyes slightly.

Rotem: (12:52:39 AM): "Perhaps... it is my prayer that you learn the power of love for yourself out there. As I said- there is a reason for everything."

Eyal: (12:56:03 AM): "I'm sure there is, My King..." He answered batting at a rock and watching it fall down the outcropping. "The Goddess of Love herself couldn't touch me with its curse." He stood and shook his mane. "I should get prepared. I will make sure the other warriors know I'm leaving... Make sure Jaron still does his training. Don't let him slack off while I am away."

Rotem: (12:58:51 AM): Rotem rolled his eyes a bit, "I will. And I'm certain he'll find some way to make a game out of it as well."

Eyal: (1:01:44 AM): "Games... does he think of nothing else?" Eyal stood and stretched out before digging his claws into the earth. "Maybe the cubs I bring back will show him how a prince should behave." He stares at the sun and draws in a deep breath, letting out a roar. He felt alive and excited about his journey. It'd been far too long since he'd allowed himself out of the pride borders, with or without permission.

Rotem: (1:05:02 AM): Rotem couldn't help but chuckle, but for the moment he would ignore that Jarom was behaving quite similar to how he had been as a young cub. As the sun hit the horizon line Rotem let a roar of his own rip free from his throat. A long-standing tradition couldn't go ignored.

Eyal: (1:08:31 AM): Eyal listened to their roars fade into the distance and chuckled again. As darkness began to decide upon the pride he started to leap down the dangerous outcropping, toward the bottom of the waterfall. Love... Such a stupid, silly notion wouldn't control his life ever again. He'd fought in the name of love once and he'd lost. He glanced up toward where Rotem was perched before moving off to where he would rest for the night.

Rotem: (1:10:13 AM): Rotem remained where he'd been, his silver eyes nearly glowing with the final light of the day as he watched his friend and warrior chief make his way from the outcropping. "Until later, brother."

Eyal: (1:17:55 AM): Eyal awoke just as dawn was starting to paint the sky. He jerked his head up and pulled himself to his feet. He was so excited even his body had woken up. He stretched out, feeling like a silly cub about to go on their first hunt. He took his time, making sure his actions were slow and deliberate as what was expected of him. He took a drink, ate the rest of a kill he'd made a night ago and did his rounds to make sure the pride was safe. Everything, as always, was in good order. The weather was clear, fresh due making the fur on his paws slightly wet.

He knew he'd be there. They were as close as brothers. Even if Eyal pretended not to notice. He glanced toward where the king slept. He felt a pang of guilt at leaving Rotem and the pride. What if they needed him while was gone? What if something terrible happened. He was obviously having second thoughts, hesitating was not something Eyal displayed regularly but he looked torn between leaving and giving up the venture completely.
