I agree....I always tend to stick with the initial flying evolution line until after the Elite four. It's easier to level him up since you start so damn early. in R/Y I'd always use Pidgey's line. In Diamond, I have a staravia right now. It's always a good idea in my opinion to stick with that line...

I did that until i found a noctowl, then i switched them out and used noctowl.
