She has no need to hide anything from anyone, and can predictably be taken at face value. Growing up in royalty--especially with an arrogant queen for a mother--has made her a bit aggressive herself, and has given her a chastising behavior. blah blah blah, blah blahblah. History: Symbolizing the first proof of the powerful pair her mother and father made in the Mizimu'Tungika, Mfuondoka came as a solid testament to the faith and belief in the pride once she was given her name. She symbolized the concrete fate chosen for her by the royal blood running in her veins, and fully accepted the spiritual forces that guide the pride, not denying her name. As part of the first litter of the queen and king of the Mizimu'Tungika, Mfuondoka made it a point to stay attentive during her entire education, knowing that it was important to lead by example to all of her younger siblings. As a result of her concentration on knowledge of her pride, she matured intellectually earlier than what would be expected of young cubs, and sought to teach herself more things to occupy her time.

Name: Karatasi Meaning: Paper Nickname: --- Color: #b7c4cc Colorist: Dark Fire Angel From: --- Siblings: Barakoa Mate: --- Offspring: --- Obtained: Custom May 09 Pride: --- Position: --- Bio: Sharp words with a blunt delivery are the main things Karatasi offers. She is a very practical lioness, forthright in her actions and speech, which makes her appear rude and insensitive at times. She is clever, preferring to handle situations with thought rather than action despite that she also is rather physically adept as a result of her family and upbringing. Karatasi has also learned through life that persistence is the way to achieve things as well as survive, so she has grown to be a very determined lioness when she has a goal in mind.
Karatasi also has very strong and virtuous morals, feeling a pull to correct wrongdoings she sees occurring. She would help those in need, but not console them out of her practicality. Still, Karatasi is gentle when she needs to be and cares about the welfare of good-hearted beings despite whatever acrimony seems to come from her mouth. History: The Motoujamii was very near and dear to Karatasi and her family, as she was raised by Firekin mother and rogue father. Her mother had left the Motoujamii lands presumably for their father who could not join, and so their family resided in a den nearby the pride, but far enough to not intrude on any inhabitant or land marker. Karatasi never knew the society, but only heard of it from her mother, alongside her aspiring sister, Barakoa. Because her mother carried somewhat strict ideals from the Firekin, Karatasi and Barakoa were trained to be strong in both body and mind. However, Barakoa had different thoughts through the learning process and took spars more seriously than Karatasi, and was overall more aggressive in her behavior and mentality. When the two were old enough, Barakoa suddenly left the family without much goodbye. Karatasi then, still caring for her sister, took off to search for Barakoa.
It didn't take long for Karatasi to realize and acknowledge Barakoa's trail of malice. She correctly identified various broken or injured rogues as a result of Barakoa's doing, and sometimes was even mistaken and feared because she looked similar to her sister. She let the search for Barakoa go.
Instead, she turned her attention to the pride that was half of her being. She had heard tales of the Motoujamii-Simo turning over to a new form of governance by rogues or former members passing through her way. Her journey then became the destination of her ancestral lands.
Karatasi had only a vague idea of where the Motoujamii-Simo lands were, and when she ran into the group of Hongshan, they reminded her of the stories she was told of the might and persevering legend of the Firekin. She hoped that by following them, she would eventually find her way to the Motoujamii-lands or at least attract attention from actual nearby Firekin inhabitants. As well, she felt for the Hongshan refugees' cause and wanted to supply what temporary support and skill she could.

Name: Malaika Meaning: Angel Nickname: --- Color: darkred Colorist: Dark Fire Angel From: Anansi x ??? Siblings: Shetani Mate: --- Offspring: Sartharion, Dhambizao, (Safaia), Hssiss, Kalaran, Halion, Kikatili, Valiona (Neltharion) Obtained: RP contest Jul 09 Pride: Mizimu'Tungika Position: Slave Bio: Fierce and collected, Malaika can and will put up a front to please those who need pleasing for her own ambitions. She is easy to agitate, but will often temporarily hide her anger until it is safe. The irate Malaika is prone to physically unleash her temper on anything nearby--it is a good thing she is able to keep her sense about at most times, or there would be many lion deaths unaccounted for.
Malaika has her own priorities and a clever, sly mind to see her goals come into fruition. She is also quick to irritate, though she can hide it well.
Needless to say, Malaika doesn't keep friends, and sees others as accomplices at best. History: Conceived of a tryst between the greater spirit of Trickery, Anansi, and a royal member of the pride (specifically a sibling of the queen Jini'chongo's), Malaika was raised by a mother who believed she had full rights to the throne, but was stripped of it - and by her weak, good-for-nothing sister. Being a spiritborn and royal-blooded, she was regarded highly alongside her brother, Shetani. However, since the day the two were born, their mother spoke out against the ways of the pride (though in secrecy), and had the knowledge of the falsehoods that laid in the Queens' ways ingrained in their minds.
As she grew up, Malaika scarcely liked the company of others, believing that the belief others held in their pride was foolish. The only like-minded individual was, to her disdain, her brother. She was able to quickly put up a good front when prompted to by her mother, learning that it was better to be in good favors than ill ones throughout life. So it was early on that Malaika started to talk and convince members of the pride that she was respectable, trustworthy, and a good spiritborn to share tales with. She was skilled in gathering information, selectively picking individuals she needed for her own insight, and not bothering with the rest - yet she still was able to maintain a well-mannered disposition. No one would have ever expected there was something more hateful and despicable in the intelligent, reputable granddaughter of the then-queen.
Rising through the ranks to be a haruspex was an effortless task for Malaika (as well as her brother, much to her irritation). She gained more knowledge than most as a cub thanks to her upbringing, and had natural talent in using her seer powers to impress everyone - she was even greater than her brother, and much of the other spiritborn as well. In addition to her haruspex training of performance on identifying and ripping parts of the body to read entrails, Malaika trained herself to have a stronger claw than most females should an incident ever come in which she would have to use it; she was individualistic in this way and lived on self-efficacy, though she did not publicize it.
The time period from when Malaika and Shetani were born to when it was time for a new queen to ascend was simply filled with their mother's poisonous tales, only getting more spiteful and brimming with hate as her time ran up. Despite her children's accomplishment of gaining prominence and honored ranks within the Mizimu, their mother was still unsatisfied and obsessed with her thirst to be in her sister's Jini'chongo's place. This resentment never left, and it still remained in the hearts of Malaika and Shetani when their mother was sacrificed at the paws of her own brother, alongside the other siblings not chosen to be Queen or Vates.
Malaika's brother left without another word when their mother was slain, and Malaika stayed for the short aftermath. She saw the look of anguish, injustice, and regret when her mother was sacrificed, and she promised she would take the will she was given and do something with it - to be a true Queen of the Mizimu. Prior to the sacrificing, she had gotten word that the old Second that vanished with an old Pure was forming a rebellion for those dissatisfied and knowledgeable about the lies of their Queen, and how Jini'chongo was only going to continue the false reign. She was glad that there were more like her, and took an interest in their cause - however, because Malaika worked for herself, there were no morally good intentions upon her departure from the Mizimu and arrival in the Dhati.
So Malaika became part of the opposing rebel pride, the Dhati, and served as an important asset with her seer powers, and was fully aware of that. Her reason for joining was not questioned, and her reputation continued to be admired even in the Dhati. Befriending and forming close bonds with the "king and queen" of the Dhati, Magadi'Afya and Ufahami'tatuka took no time, and creating some of her own lies (using her knowledge, silver tongue, and "Sight") helped win their favor.
As the Dhati became more involved in Mizimu affairs (small skirmishes on the borders, lessening of their prey), Malaika could feel the war coming, and it would all be in her paws. First, she affirmed Ufahami's trust; doing this was only the easiest flattery she ever performed. Then, as she had it planned, came into contact again with her cousin, Kizuka'ruya, who had been the only member of the pride that she confided in with her plans (as her cousin had a similar situation like Malaika and Shetani) - only so Kizuka would be useful later, that is. Using her tongue again, she gave Kizuka the confidence to take Jini'chongo's cubs away, and watched as her dim cousin followed her orders. Kizuka would later on only be able to capture one, the firstborn Mfuondoka, but that would still have a pronounced effect on the Mizimu.
It was soon time for Malaika to dispose of the Dhati "queen" that got in her way - Ufahami. Without her, Malaika would be the only suitable one to fit the position, and she would only have to deal with a weakened Magadi later. So, taking Ufahami to an empty area, Malaika struck out at the old Pure once with a deadly blow, and was about to finish the job when she caught sight of an approaching individual. Her faith in her claw didn't waver, and so she left the dying Ufahami in a pool of her own blood. She did not manage to find the presence that distracted her after, but asserted that it did not matter.
When it became clear to Magadi that Ufahami was not to return, Malaika was the shoulder to rest on and the comforting embrace and companion. It was assumed that the Mizimu held Ufahami captive, and Malaika promoted that lie. With Magadi's heartbreak, Malaika ironically assumed the place Ufahami once did, and saw the provoked, perhaps insane, rage that consumed Magadi as the days progressed towards the war. This was the growing tension she wanted to trigger the conflict.
She allowed Magadi to use her in their final days before their group was to meet Sakata and the rest of the Mizimu lions. She relieved any anxiety he had so that his pure anger wouldn't have any barriers or restraint, and felt the beginnings of life - something she didn't expect - come to existence inside her. While slightly surprised, Malaika always had a plan for what came her way through life, and so brushed the prospect aside in lieu of the oncoming meeting.
Malaika was prepared and ready when the dawn came on the day the Mizimu and Dhati lions collided forces for the two leaders' to talk "business" because each had what the other wanted: Magadi's mate, and Sakata's daughter. She stood beside Magadi while walking to meet the Mizimu. However, a startling interruption came for both of the prides. Tukutu, the goddess of mischief had been scheming all along and brought the two ransoms for each side back to their respective party. Tukutu also revealed Malaika's paw in the disappearances of Ufahami and the cub, which sent Magadi in an immediate rage, trapping Malaika under his paw as Sakata offered to take Malaika back as a prisoner to the Mizimu. Magadi agreed; however, he took Malaika's tongue before leaving her behind.
Malaika was taken prisoner, and the Dhati were defeated soon after that conflict. She was battered some more at Sakata's wish; claws were stripped so that she could not hunt again, and legs broken so she could never walk properly. They marked her with a green print to signify her imprisonment; since then, she had lost all spirit to oppose. All her plans had failed, and Malaika simply desired death - but she couldn't even have that.
Because of the severity of being beaten, Malaika's cubs with Magadi died in her womb. It caused much pain, but no physical pain was greater than her death in will. She simply became a body, broken and unwilling to live. Yet, she lived as part of Sakata's punishment. To make matters worse, Sakata used her body to milk his second litter of cubs by Jini'chongo, as the queen had withdrawn out of the pride and Sakata's interactions; she had fallen.
Not long after this, Malaika was approached by a being who could almost entirely represent her. Neltharion, the god of hate, appeared and proposed something that appealed to Malaika's pride and future; a spark lit in her soul, and her fiery passion for revenge started to burn again. He would father her cubs, and in return, they would lead the Mizimu into chaos with their own ambitions and strength - strength that Malaika had lost. The act took a deep toll on Malaika's body, yet she was still naturally strong, and her will allowed herself to persevere.

Name: Mtenga Meaning: Loner Nickname: --- Color: red Colorist: Dark Fire Angel From: --- Siblings: --- Mate: --- Offspring: --- Obtained: RP contest Aug 09 Pride: Motoujamii-Simo Position: --- Bio: "moody, quiet and seems to have a chip on his shoulder. His memory isn’t very reliable and he’s often confused about things. He also suffers from terrible headaches that seem to dampen his temper even further. He’s often seen wandering off by himself." "violent headaches and poor memory are due to his fights with the captors" "secret to all but Nasiha" History: "Mtenga’s past is sketchy, even to him, due to his shaky memory. However, there are a few things he does know and can usually recall if he thinks on it. The following extracts are those memories.
He was taken from their birth den at an early age – along with his brother – by a male who claimed to be their father. He did, in fact, bear a striking resemblance to the boys so they followed him out, willingly. They, too, believed the story the male fed them – that their mother was hurt by rogues and feared for their safety. The male told them that he would take the boys someplace they couldn’t be harmed and return them to their mother once the danger had passed.
A couple of days later and the male – their father – informed the cubs that their mother had died from her injuries.
The rest is a blur but Mtenga and his older brother ended up in the care of their father and as they grew, the male turned his attention on training them to fight. The boys, all too willingly, set themselves to learning and spent many hours a day training and sparring with one another or the two older males that were the friends of their father.
Somewhere along the line the training stopped being training. Their father stopped being their friend.
Mtenga faced his father, shaking from fresh wounds inflicted upon him, desperate to prove his worth. The fight was short but violent and before the end, Mtenga was thrown over a rocky ledge. The fall had him battering his head against rocks until he passed into unconsciousness. He was never the same after that. Prone to severe headaches and memory loss, Mtenga relied on his brother to help him remember names and events.
As they grew, the brothers became more like slaves than sons to their father. Their father’s friends taunted them and fought with them, driving them both to the brink of blinding, uncontrollable fury.
One day their father came to them and said: “I have a job for you. There are a group of lions who mean to do us harm. We do not intend to give them that opportunity. Will you go with my friends and do whatever needs to be done?”
The boys were young but they were not stupid. They knew their father meant for them to kill these others. Yet, afraid of his wrath, they agreed.
The battle was a blur. Mtenga meant to spare them but they jeered and taunted and his rage built so that it could no longer be controlled. He hit them, pretending they were his father, taking out his anger on them. And, when his anger cooled the lions lay dead. Mtenga was wounded, ashamed and horrified. But that was nothing to the feelings that came next.
His father moved towards them and paused to nudge a lion lying sprawled across the ground. Blinking, Mtenga realised he knew the lion. It was his brother! Bellowing with grief and outrage, Mtenga lunged forwards, only to have his father’s companions pin him back, refusing to let him get close.
He saw his father dip his head and then all went dark.
Older now, finally having reached adulthood, Mtenga’s feverish headaches and foul temper only seemed to get worst. His fighting became erratic, almost mad. Yet, this behaviour only seemed to make his father happy – or maybe amused – as if he were playing straight into his paws. Many days – when the group gathered – Mtenga was taunted into a battle and if it looked like he might win the three ganged up on him and beat him down.
He had been away for the majority of the day, tracking a neighbouring herd so that he could inform the rest of the band when it happened. He heard the lowered voices of his father and the others and hesitated, pausing at the entrance to the makeshift den to listen.
“Now that he’s out of the way I don’t have to worry about that anymore.” His father said.
“What if your vision was wrong? What if you got the wrong son? We should finish the other one, too, just in case.”
Mtenga’s father exploded with rage and Mtenga guessed he must have struck one of his companions. The meeting they had been having concluded and the young male leapt back into shadow, heart pounding, fire in his veins. The two males left, leaving his father inside and it took all his strength to keep himself from leaping in there and tearing out his throat.
His father had killed his brother.
Enough was enough. Spending his whole life as a slave, as a brute who took orders from a murdering male had filled him with anger and hatred. This was too much.
Mtenga stalked down his father’s companions and, when they went their own way, followed and killed them. Then, bracing himself, he returned to the den to finish off the one creature he hated more than any other in the world: His father.
Bleeding but alive, Mtenga rose victorious and, dazed and grief-stricken, stumbled out across the savannah.
After a few days of endless wandering he bumped into Kimacho’s band of rogues. He was addled and confused and couldn’t answer any of their questions about where he was going or what he was looking for. He’d clearly been involved in some sort of vicious fight for he was marked with wounds only just beginning to heal. Nasiha, taking a liking to this strange, red male, took the time to speak with him. He did not make much sense and spoke incoherently, but she gathered he had led a hard and unloving life full of loneliness. Deciding to argue his case, she appealed to Kimacho to take the male with them. Kimacho agreed, trusting in her judge of character and – much to everyone else’s annoyance – allowed the male, Mtenga, to join them. However, Mtenga never truly became a part of the group, for everyone kept him at a distance, everyone except Nasiha. Siri’wasii in particular, always kept her distance from him and though she was never openly despising, she barely said a word to him.
As they travelled, Nasiha often kept Mtenga company, the two of them falling behind the others so they could talk in relative privacy. He found her surprisingly kind and gentle and was often awkward, unsure how to act to such attentions, being used only to cruelty. One day, close to the borders of the desert, Mtenga told Nasiha about his past. He told her that he had been a terrible lion, cursed with a rage he could not control. A rage that had been manipulated by others. A rage that had led him to kill innocents. He told Nasiha that she should leave him behind before he did something he might regret. Nasiha, kindly, told him that he needn’t worry, for whilst she was with him he would have no reason to get angry. She told him that he could move on with his life, become a better lion and that she would be there for him. She promised to keep his past a secret.
It was at the edge of the desert that Kimacho crossed paths with Iroh – an elderly Firekin preparing to return home. The two became quick companions and, Iroh, also hearing the rumours about worthy rogues being accepted – agreed to escort them across the desert."
I need to know. (Nasiha) Watching you, watching me (Kenna) Trouble Me (Kimacho)

Name: Haiba Meaning: Grace Nickname: --- Color: #6a4e42 Colorist: Meepfur From: --- Siblings: --- Mate: Kani Offspring: --- Obtained: RP contest Aug 09 Pride: Tete'boma Position: Siti Bio: sdf History: Excessively pampered since birth as the only child of her parents, Haiba grew up used to the luxuries of life--to her advantage, she was also fancied by many young males as she grew out of childhood, and could make a claim that she could allure any Mainyi she chose, and even the Mtawa if she desired him. With her boastful assertions, she gained the positive attentions of many females in the pride seeking for advice in charming the males, and the males saw her as being valuable because of her prominent connection to these lionesses.
It was in making these excessive claims that to her distaste, she found a kindred spirit much like her. Competition is something Haiba thrives on, but to see a competitor that looked just as repulsive as his pathetic attempts to best her was unacceptable. Possessing a very driven personality, Haiba has acquired much knowledge and intelligence about various things throughout her life in order to actually accomplish the feats she prides herself on reigning champion over. While being spoiled did not hinder her from getting a paw dirty, it did make her feel more entitled when it came to certain things, such as being able to be betrothed on her own time and discretion.
When Haiba realized that was not the case, and that some things in life were simply unfair when she did not get her way, she acquiesced to bide time, silently awaiting her next chance to terminate the wrongdoing that was placed on her. Despite having a fervent opinion on many things, especially her marriage, she is easily able to put on a pleasant face and charismatic charm to potentially manipulate others into seeing her way.
