Personality: Meeko is the definition of carefree. He lives his life from day to day, barely concerning himself about the trials of yesterday or tomorrow. Often he'll indulge himself in games, pretending this or tha as he ambles his way across africa. With no known family or friends to tie him down, this dog is free as the wind. Or at least that's what he wants everyone to see. For the most part it's all true. The past is a hard thing to shed, no matter how far you travel or how fast you move. It's something you can't outrun - not that Meeko hasn't tried, of course. Raised as a pup in human lands, Meeko rarely met others of his kind, and certainly non wild-born like himself. His litter mates were killed off by a roaming hyena and he survived only due to the kindness of one old shaman. He never questioned his life as one of the two-leggers, though as he grew into adulthood he'd often wander the furthest borders of the tribe's land, curious to meet another creature like himself. However, come nightfall he was always back at his human's side. It was during one of these far wanderings that disaster struck his home. A nearby tribe, long desiring his own tribe's land, launched a brutal attack on his home. Everything - and everyone - was destroyed. His beloved shaman fled the earthly world - but not before warning the young adult to flee the lands. Heeding his human's last request, Meeko fled into the night. He was heartbroken and alone, and at this time he swore to himself that he would never allow another creature to come so close to his heart. For a while he slunk close to the borders of the old tribe lands, barely scraping by on the remains he stole from other predator's kills. When he was finally able to let go, Meeko headed east... and hasn't stopped since. He keeps a necklace, a gift from the old shaman, as a reminder to himself of the past, though in reality he doesn't really need one. If one word could be used to sum up Amaya, it would be 'quiet'. Never one to raise a fuss or demand help, 'Maya is one who would most-likely be called a 'Mama's girl'. She tends to stick close to the pride, content to keep company with her friends and relatives. She loves to watch the sunset, and especially loves it when it rains at night - partly due to the knowledge of her name meaning, and partly due to the soothing sound the drops make against rock and leaf. She also prefers to watch her siblings and friends play rather than take an active part in it - mostly due to the strange, painful feelings she gets.
Though she doesn't know it, and its more than likely that it won't be discovered until she grows older, 'Maya has heart problems - specifically, she suffers from arrhythmias. Nothing too serious, but when exerting herself too hard, or when in any kind of stressful situation, 'Maya often experiences a shortness of breath and dizziness that can lead to unconsciousness. She is usually able to calm herself down at the first signs of chest pain and fluttering, but if the stress continues she'll become ill.

Shira might be considered 'loose' and 'immoral' by some, but she'd just call them old-fashioned. She knows she's a lovely girl and isn't afraid to use that fact to her advantage. Manipulation is her favorite game, after all! Shira will do her best to make males want her, though she tends to view other female with a faint distaste. As far as children go... well, she doesn't quite hate them, but she certainly doesn't long for any of her own.
As a cub she was raised in a strict family, prohibited from doing much beyond hunting and watching her younger siblings. She met a young lion while she was stalking a herd of zebra - though not love at first sight, it was definitely strong infatuation. Shira introduced him to her family and pride, only to have him be shunned for his rogue status. Infuriated, Shira eloped with him one bright summer night.
However, he wasn't nearly everything she'd thought he was, and so Shira was left disowned and broken-hearted in the roguelands. Since that time she has sworn never to sleep with any male she felt a true spark of love for. As a form of vengence, she takes particular delight in breaking heats and ruining lives, though occasionally she might feel a flash of guilt. It is possible she could be made to see the error of her ways, but it would be a hard path to force her onto.
For now Shira wanders rather aimlessly, seeking pleasure and living in the moment.

In one word, Rue is loud. Much like her mother Siri when she was younger, Rue is very sure of herself and unafraid to live her life to the fullest. She is constantly striving to be the focus of her parent's attention, and does her damned best to make sure that it stays on her when she gets it. Unfortunately she isn't picky about the means of getting said attention. Rue will most-likely become known as a trouble maker. Mischievous and clever, she loves to play pranks on anyone she can get to fall for them.

If remembered for nothing else, those who encounter Era will remember this - the leopard is EXTREMELY finicky. Her white coat is her pride and joy. She hates the mud with a passion that is only matched by her hatred for rainy days. If the world was created to Era's tastes, there would be neat piles of meat whenever she desired them, NO mud puddles anywhere, and everyday would be dry and cloudless.
Fortunately, the world is not run by Era's design, so she is forced to deal with the messes of everyday life. There is one thought that drives her, keeps her going - and that is the knowledge that she is lost royalty. The gem around her neck along with the 'crown' design on her forehead are proof enough for her, and SHOULD be for you. It's one of the first facts anyone meeting her will learn, and its one they'll constantly be reminded of.
Era herself isn't certain of her past. She has a faint memory of being forced to flee from her queen mother's side, escorted by a giant winged lion, and then being gifted the gem as a reminder of her heritage... but by and large, her past is a blank slate. This only serves (to her) to prove that there is SOMEONE against her, and it is her duty to regain her status with her people.

Personality: Blu embodies the definition of 'independent'. A life of endless trials has taught her the importance of self-reliance, and has made her aware of the one truth in life; no one is responsible for yourself but you. Blu was raised nearly from birth by an old human, a man who belonged to no tribe abd survived on his wits alone. One day while out hunting she and Udevu were ambushed by a wandering rogue lion. Udevu was killed outright, his neck snapped when he lept in front of Blu. The rogue's claws ripped into her shoulders and a combination of bloodloss and pain sent her spinning into darkness. She woke up beneath the mauled body of her mate, her left shoulder a mass of blood and fur. Recovery was painful, but she was determined to survive, if only to give Udevu's death a purpose. Now she wanders alone, careful to keep her heart guarded. Two losses are more than enough - but unconsciously she longs for a love like the two she already lost. Siasa might be called slow by some, however he's anything but stupid. Rather, this is one lion who thinks everything through. It's rare that he is impulsive, and even rarer that he'll agree to ANY action without a lot of forethought first! That is, unless his sister Machotekeza is involved. Her wild nature combined with their mother's lack of care has apparently made Siasa decided to designate himself her guardian (whether or not she wants one!).
Siasa is like a conscience - the little voice that's always reasonable, echoing in the back of your head. Because of this, he's a good one to go to when you can't work out a problem, and his unflappable nature makes him a steady battle companion.

Kimmy is a bright, happy, and somewhat naive goddess. She is focused on her domain, her fireflies, and really doesn't care about much else. It isn't that she doesn't feel sympathy for others when they suffer, or feel fear when something threatens her. But having never really suffered herself, she has no real understanding of how cruel the world can be. And, being a goddess, she doesn't feel threatened by what might scare a mortal lion.
She is sweet and good natured, and can be found anywhere where fireflies like to appear. This can make her hard to track down, as she tends to drift wherever she might want to go. She normally appears as her true self - having never learned to truly fear, she can see no reason to hide herself. She has no suspicious bone in her body, which could someday lead her to trouble.

Danzi is, in one word, reckless. In all honesty there really isn't too much reason behind his rhyme - he just takes risks. If he can climb higher, jump further (over more dangerous terrain) or swim faster, he will! Constantly a headache to his mother, Danzi lives for the high that comes with dancing near death. He's the one who perches on the brink of a cliff, legs dangling over the edge.
When he isn't busy trying to kill himself, Danzi can be a rather arrogant little snot. If someone can't match him in skill or in guts, he scratches them off 'the list' and decides that they're not worth his time. Therefore he tends to alienate himself (though he tells himself it's for the best) and those who DO stick around with him are constantly belittled/insulted unless they keep up with him.

On the outside, Sumu is a happy, content lion. He spent his childhood and early adolescence exploring the pridelands, determined to know them like the back of his paw. Anyone watching him might notice that he rarely gets into REAL fights, and it is even rarer to hear him spit out angry words. To anyone who knows him, he seems to be a pretty amiable, easygoing boy.
There are times when Sumu seems altogether different. His mood clouds and he creeps off to be alone, often in the shade of rocks or in a recently discovered cave. If he meets or spends time with others during these mood swings, he's liable to be less amiable and more eager to pick a fight. When this happens, it's almost as if he's venting the anger that he keeps inside of himself at all other times. He does his best to keep away from his siblings and friends (so as not to worry them or make them angry) but some things can't be avoided forever.
As a side note, Sumu also tends to cling to grudges with the tenacity of lichen on a rock.
