Kes… Kestrel. You should have caught that sooner, but alas, you didn’t, and you can tell just by looking at the weapon pointed at you that Kes is at least twenty levels stronger than you. Knowing you don’t stand a snowballs chance in hell against her, you turn to run, but you don’t even manage to make one step before you’re health drops to zero and your screen fades to read ‘Game Over’.

Game over. Wish to try again?

Kes… a shortened version of Kestrel. Oh the irony that you didn’t catch on to that sooner. You ready your weapon, even though you’re fairly sure that you’re dead either way, considering the look of that weapon. But you’ll go down swinging. Rushing forward, you attempt an attack, but Kes blocks and counters. Instantly, your health bar drops to zero and your screen fades to ‘Game Over’.

Game Over. Wish to try again?

This whole Lost Ground thing sounds pretty interesting, so you head back towards the Dome and Chaos Gate. Upon arrival, you call up the area word selection menu and input the words Hidden Forbidden Holy Ground. In the area display window, you see what looks like a church. There doesn’t seem to be any other information on the area, or any mission or level for that matter. You’ve never seen an area like this. Before.

Go to 21 if you wish to warp to ^ Hidden Forbidden Holy Ground.
Go to 22 if you wish to do something else.

Gaining the keywords are of interest, but not something that ranks at the very top of your to do list, so you head on your way after the conversation about the Lost Ground has ended. As you go, you hear the keywords ^Jolly Kindled Dusk and the rumor of a rare item being there mentioned again and again. Deciding you now have some options of what to do, you head back to the Chaos gate. Checking out the two sets of area words you have, you find that Jolly Kindled Dusk leads to a level fifty six area, where you are only level fifty. The other set, Hidden Forbidden Holy Ground, seems to lead to a church like area with no statistics at all. You decide to…

Warping to ^Jolly Kindled Dusk, you look around to see that it’s a dark and rainy area with a defeat the boss type of mission. On your map, you see that there are a couple of noteworthy chests along the way, but you take into account that they will be guarded by monsters, and that at your current level, they would be hard to beat alone. Thinking about it, you decide that you would probably be able to grab one chest and still be alright enough to battle the boss. According to the map, there is a chest to the west, north, and east of the boss monster. You…

Go to 23 to attack the boss monster.
Go to 24 to get the chest to the west.
Go to 25 to get the chest to the north.
Go to 26 to get the chest to the east.

Deciding it would be best to go stock up on a few items, you make your way back out of the dome and down into the market district of Mac Anu. You have a few coupons to trade in at the local guild shops, so you take your time to look around. Few of the regular big name guilds are set up today, save for Canard. A small guild, it was only well known for helping out new players with anything they needed help on. Figuring they’re guild is a good enough cause to spend money and coupons on, you walk over and browse their selection, all the while an adapt rouge that is dressed all in black watching you with a look of uncaring. Making your selection, you hand over the needed currency and start to head back towards the Dome. As you walk away, you hear someone yell the name Haseo and start to lay into them for not being very friendly and helpful, but it’s none of your concern so you just keep walking, ending up back at the Chaos Gate.

After some thought, you warp to ^Hidden Forbidden Holy Ground, if anything simply out of sheer curiosity. Once you warp in, you’re awe struck. The area is unlike any you’ve ever seen; there is only one path that leads up to the steps of a giant cathedral, and that cathedral is the only thing in the entire area. Little orbs of light float lazily along, and you find yourself glued to your spot.

Go to 27 to move forward to the doors.
Go to 28 to take in the sights for a bit longer.

Feeling as though you don’t want to deal with a level that has nothing in it, you close the area selection menu and walk back outside of the Dome, content to just walk around some more. Ending up on the bridge down at the alchemy district, you hop up and sit down on the ornate railing, watching the sun glitter on the water. People pass by, and you hear more and more rumors about a rare item at the area ^Jolly Kindled Dusk, which you commit to memory for later use. Rare items are always a good thing. After watching your fill of the water, you get up, deciding you’re going to warp to some area in order to just do something more than sit or walk around. As you head back to the warp point, and go about selecting your destination, a blue-silver haired player with a cat sitting on his shoulder warps in, but you don’t get a chance to get a good look at him before you warp away. The cat looked interesting though; you’ve never seen an item like that before. Back to choosing area words though, you don’t give the cat or the player any more thought.

Go to 21 to warp to ^Hidden Forbidden Holy Ground

It’s better to play it safe, you think, so instead of going for any of the chests you head straight for the boss monster, since that is where the rare item will most likely be. Luckily you have enough smoke screens to evade other monster groups as you head for the boss. On your way, you do find a few chim chim harvesting areas and, lucky for you, a lucky animal that you manage to kick to gain help in your next five battles. Upon reaching the monster, you find it to be an odd shelled thing; some sort of dragon, you recall. You’ve heard of the thing, but not much else.

Go to 29 to cast power up spells and such.
Go to 30 to rush into battle.

The chest on the west side of the map catches your attention; it seems to be on a small island, so the monster threat shouldn’t be too bad. Heading across the grass and over the bridges, dodging monsters as you go, you find yourself on the western island facing three Gaze Knights; a shielded type that has a high defense and a powerful attack to boot. You…

Go to 31 to fight the Gaze Knights.
Go to 32 to go find the boss monster.

The chest to the north looks like a good choice, so off you go in search of it. Getting there isn’t easy; it seems like every monster pack you come across is waiting for you and you have to use all your smoke screens just to make it to the area with the chest. You find a Gaze Knight and a Face Bug waiting for you, a difficult fight, but easier than some of the others you had to run from. You…

The east chest looks like it’s the closest to you, so you head off in that general direction, scoping out the lay of the land as you go. At one point, you can just make out the form of the boss monster, but you stay away from that for now and go on to the east island. There is the chest, surrounded by three Face Bugs; probably the easiest looking fight you’ve seen thus far. You…

Go to 32 to go find the boss monster.
Go to 34 to fight the Face Bugs.

Managing to pry yourself from where you stand, you hesitantly make your way towards the cathedral. For a game, the area is almost fear inducing, as if the cathedral has stood witness to many trials of many people in the past. As you reach the two large doors, you pause before pushing them open. Odd. It almost seemed as if you could feel the cool touch of the doors under your hands, but then you laugh at the thought. It’s only a game.

Peering inside, your attention is first drawn to the beautiful design of the interior and then to the two figures talking up towards the other end of the aisle way. You…

Go to 35 to hide and listen.
Go to 36 to approach the figures.

Taking in the surrounding sights a bit longer, you walk to the edge of the bridge and peer over; loosing yourself in the swirling mists bellow. You wonder if this is what all the coma rumors are about; an area so peaceful that you just stop thinking for short amounts of time. Not comas at all, just people wanting to play something up. Scoffing at the idea, you keep watching the mist. Nearly a half an hour passes as you just stand there, listening to the soft background music and watching things float by. Feeling as though you’ve wasted time, you head towards the cathedral doors and push them open. Inside, you see the shimmer of something disappearing, and then another figure turns towards you.

Go to 37 to approach the lone figure.
Go to 38 to observe the lone figure.

Knowing the battle is going to be tough as it is, you cast every single power-up spell you have on yourself; raising attack, defense, and speed primarily. Charging, you surprise attack the boss monster, but do minimal damage. As soon as the battle truly begins though, the lucky animal you found earlier appears and does a nice five hundred thirty seven points of damage; effectively taking the protective shell off the thing. This leaves it open to taking more damage per attack. Luckily, it’s much slower than you, so keeping away from it’s attacks is easy so long as you can stay behind it.

Go to 39 to cast The Hanged Man spell.
Go to 40 to keep attacking.
