Personality

Few witness the joy she is capable of, because rarely is she capable of it. The regular lion she fell in love with, and bared children for, has long since died and provided a crucial lesson all of her kind eventually learn. Not everyone lives forever. Still, she loves her mortal family; even her daughter in spite of betrayal. For a time Mwokoti stopped loving the "job" forced upon her and became distant from the mortals she helped. Recently, as a result of the words of the goddess of winter, Yepa, she is beginning to reconsider the issue she's left untouched so long. For the time being the only one she is at ease around is other entities, particularly Ukali.

To anyone else Mwokoti is one of few words. Pointless chatter is no hobby of hers. She is direct when speaking to her literal followers. If they ask a question, she can almost always provide them the answer. The goddess is bluntly realistic about problems. However, she is not always accepting of them, and will try to change or alter lives of her family to what she feels is best even if she has to use force. Despite her benevolent domain, Mwokoti can be as wrathful as any god, though through more mind than muscle. Meaning, manipulation.

History

The story goes, when the first creature on Earth lost their way, Mwokoti was created. She can't say how old she is, because she can't remember. In her first decades of life she was incredibly joyful, happy and grateful to have the destiny of helping any and everyone. But non-stop movement will make a wary heart.

Not long after she was "born" Mwokoti met Ukali, the God of Strength. They were instantly friends. When she grew too tired, Ukali was given the task of mercy killing Mwokoti. During the cycle of be reborn is the only time she can and does rest. Thus, Mwokoti has, so far, died twice.

In between these deaths she met a mortal named Nishan. He fell in love with Mwokoti and followed her until the feelings were returned. Mwokoti birthed two cubs from him: a son and a daughter, Basha and Nishan the second.

Their father perished and Mwokoti learned the lesson about mortals all Gods do. Some, like her, from first hand experiences. After his passing Mwokoti became an impassive goddess. Since then, only in Ukali's company is she content.

Unable to care for her children because of her domain, she left them in the original Mtaishi'Miele pride. She returned to find her daughter a traitor and the pride destroyed. With Ukali, they attacked the goddess causing the destruction and locked her away in the mountains around the lands. From there, Mwokoti left, once again mourning. This time, her son.

But her destiny was to meet two Pridelanders, Sen and Jin'Yue. They revived her pride, and just as importantly, some faith in love, mortals and the world as a whole for Mwokoti.

Notable Relationships

Those who have had the most influence, either directly or indirectly, on Mwokoti's life.

Family:

Harimuangu'Mlinda ("Basha"): When Mwokoti's daughter was born, she was named Basha. She calls her this still today. Basha was partially responsible for the death of multiple pride members. She maintains her innocence, wailing about being controlled by a goddess is to blame. Mwokoti, deep down, knows it not to be true, but refuses to believe her own child would cause anyone any harm.

Nishan II: Mwokoti's dearly beloved son. He was believed to be killed during the war in his pride. Nishan is actually very much alive. He encountered his mother again, quite a while ago, but still doesn't know who she is.

Nishan III: A grandson, born from Basha, and named as a memorial to his uncle. Because of what he is suppose to symbolize Mwokoti has a favoritism for him. She's never told him why. Their relationship is somewhat strained on his end.

Friendship:

Ukali: Mwokoti's best friend. He's also her most trusted by default, being the only one she trusts. Their bond is that of friends forever, quite literally, but recently blossoming into something more. Being the God of Strength he is capable of problem solving Mwokoti could not do on her own.

Sen: A mouthy Pridelander Mwokoti has known since she was a cub. She at first bothered Mwokoti to teach her to fly, refusing to believe it was impossible. As a juvenile she "ran away" by following Mwokoti. Eventually, she restored Mwokoti's former pride as queen. The goddess disapproves of pretty much everything Sen does and has done, yet can't help but feel a twinge of affection for her.

Jin'Yue: Sen's brother who, in Mwokoti's opinion, only got drug along for the ride. He too assisted in reviving the dead pride, taking the rank of king. Her connection with him is, like Sen, that of a hesitant friend. Beyond that, he is the father of her grandchildren.

Romance:

(NPC) Nishan: Deceased for a while now, Nishan was Mwokoti's first love. His death taught her the short life span of mortal's in comparison to her own and drastically altered both her and her behavior. She never speaks of him, and if he is brought up... Well, just don't bring him up.

Enemies:

Ohahira: According to Mwokoti, Ohahira "went mad" for reasons involving her sister. But Mwokoti doesn't care about any of that. What she did care about was Ohahira was a threat to the pride she wanted to return her son to, to tell him about being his mother. After reasoning failed, she tricked her into the Firekin and had her enslaved.

Uzulu: Mwokoti truly hates very few. Uzulu is one of these few. Mwokoti, actually, frowns upon the "old" Firekin entirely. Uzulu is the only one she's had direct contact with, though. She gave Ohahira to him as a slave.

Other:

Hasana: Her son's best friend, and a gentle lioness. They were close to friends, but Hasana discovered that Mwokoti had enslaved her daughter. Now, where they stand is anyones guess.

Personality

]Mtembei is content with the world only when content with himself. If every wish he had was fulfilled and everything around him in a state of peace, but he felt just a minor twinge of guilt, that alone would keep him from being as happy as he should. Much to his chagrin he has some of his father in him; he'll lie to get out of trouble. The difference is, unlike his father, Mtembei lies before he can stop himself, does not plan it out and until it's out of his mouth doesn't realize he's doing it. Knowing this it's hard to believe he has such a deep rooted sense of honor. He does. At least, he's trying to.

Mtembei wants to grow into a loyal lion, it's just taking time. He does know what his beliefs are. His stance on almost every issue is decided and firm he stands. The problem is revolving his actions around them. First, he must conquer his impulsive ways. Though he may seem like a grouchy, selfish blob, Mtembei is actually quite empathetic on the inside. Truthfully, a pushover. Sensitive to others feelings, he still has no desire to impress them. Not unless it's an issue of his values, ones he again does not yet follow but still believes in with all his heart. Conflict even then is rare. He doesn't enjoy it. So, when it does happen, there's a good reason and it promises to a loud and long winded argument.

History

Mtembei's life is mostly a quiet one sprinkled with a few noteworthy events. His father Banji left him, his mother and his sisters. Mtembei followed after with plans to drag him back. Plans that never happened.

Feeling he had failed his mother Mtembei remained alone for a while. He decided to return to her later, with a mate in toe. Sort of. Kitambi was a lioness he tricked into believing was his "destined" mate. He would eventually join Kitambi's pride and become the version of the "king" it has.

Notable Relationships

Those who have had the most influence, either directly or indirectly, on Mtembei's life.

Family:

Leboya: Mtembei never thought he was a mama's boy. But hey, we all have denial once in a while, right? He tried to bring his father back for her, and when that failed, lied to her and said he'd been gone for the sake of love.

Banji: The father of Mtembei and his siblings. When they were but cubs he left, and when he was older, Mtembei followed. Attempts to drag Banji back failed. Only recently has he stopped haunting Mtembei. (See also: Enemies)

Friendship:

---

Romance:

Kitambi: When Mtembei was looking for a "mate" to bring back to his mother as an excuse of why he'd been gone so long, he found Kitambi. He convinced her she was his "destined" soul mate and brought her to meet his mother. Now, he's trying to shake her and make a run for it, with plans to return to his mother for sympathy in his sob story Kitambi left him. Like father, like son? Buuuut, Mtembei's got some true feelings for her that he hasn't acknowledged just yet.

Enemies:

Nsundu: When they were both young is when Nsundu met Mtembei. They squabbled over something--he can't remember--and it left him with a permanent scar on his nose. Although Nsundu has entirely forgotten him, Mtembei carries a vivid memory of hers. He was less than pleased to find her to be Kitambi's mother.

Sen: Nsundu's partner in crime. She's got no tact at all! Where there's one, there's the other. That's enough of a reason. Not even counting her embarrassing him with, ahem, advances.

Banji: Mtembei's father who abandoned his family and caused a lot of woe and backlash strain for Mtembei with his mother. Finally, he has let it go. Mostly. Try as he might to free himself completely from the chain, he can't help but hold a grudge. (See also: Family)

Offspring: Amira, Tabia, Konja (adopted)

Obtained: Breeding - Gift from Safaia

Personality

Alake is a natural born leader. Almost. She's very selfish. When she was a cub she was vain, judging everyone based on if they were 'pretty' or not. She is easing out of this but it's taking time. Every now and then her catty side still crops up to provide commentary on someone having ugly eyes. Other than that you'd think her fit for a queen. She certainly desires the attention of one.

She tends to take charge of situations, and if she can't, she's the one you'll see fighting with the leader about things. If there really is one person who decides things in every couple, Alake is the decider in hers. Her valley girl mannerisms can suggest her stupid when she isn't. On the contrary, Alake understands the most complex concepts quickly. She is ready and willing to organize everyone. Business is boring, but when it's time for it, she expects competence.

History

Alake was born into a loving family who raised her well. She was rescued as a cub by the lion who is now her mate and swore them to be fated lovers since then. When he moved, she waited patiently until she was older to go and find him.

She did, and now resides in a pride with he and her children, the Mtaishi'Miele.

Notable Relationships

Those who have had the most influence, either directly or indirectly, on Alake's life.

Family:

Konya: Alake's closet sister who was suppose to take the journey to find her mate with her, but in the end, they went different ways. She misses her sister and uses her as an example of proper behavior for her children.

Amira: The first born of Alake's two daughters. She loves her dearly, but might push her just a little too much to be a prim and proper lady. Both she and her sister have allowed Alake to grow in ways she wouldn't have otherwise.

Tabia: The second of Alake's daughters, resembling her father. She is the more rambunctious of the two, and although Alake loves her, hopes she'll grow out of it to become a lovely young lady.

Friendship:

Hasana: Alake's mother-in-law and perhaps best friend. She is another nanny in the pride so they spend lots of time together. She finds Hasana to be absolutely insane for having so many children, but since she raised her mate, she must know what she's doing, right?

Lakisa: Another nanny in the pride, this outspoken, busybody type won't hesitate to say what's on her mom. She's as dedicated as Alake to being a neat and tidy "lady", and even gives her daughters "lessons". Together, they're a good pair, in the run for your lives kind of way.

Romance:

Nitahifahdi: Fahdi--uh, Nitahifahdi (since it's taboo to call him by anything but his full name to Alake)--rescued his mate when they were cubs from drowning. Since the beginning they were inseparable. Fahdi--Nitahifahdi--readily accepted his future role as her mate. He eventually moved with his family to another pride. When she was older, Alake reuinited with him there.

Enemies:

Bad Hair Days: Unforgivable!

Other:

Konja: A male who, interestingly enough, is probably older than Alake. He has the mentality of a cub, though, and was abandoned by his mother years before Alake found him. With some help she managed to con him into leaving his "waiting spot" to come with her, and since adopted him as a son.

Personality

Tanana is the product of her upbringing. She was conditioned to listen to orders and will do so out of instinct, be it request or demand, within reason. She is not a mindless drone and if told to jump off a cliff, won't do it. She will, however, take, "I'm hungry." as, "Go get me food." and be off hunting before the speaker can blink twice. She is capable of things that leaves others with their jaw hanging in disbelief; they'd never suspect such a (literal) runt of a lioness could hunt as well as she does. But where Tanana is from, the slave bloodline of the Firekin, it's learn or die, so learn she did.

Had she been born elsewhere, she'd have been a kind, generous lioness. Even now there is kindness in her eyes and actions, just selectively so. She'll take orders from everyone, but only underdogs, lone rogues and other heart-wrenching lost souls will she assist from the goodness of her heart. Organizing others comes naturally to her, she's been doing it all her life. She isn't used to not being in control of those she cares about, growing up as the "leader" of her siblings, and finds it difficult to not bark commands at the friends she has made like she did with them.

The free world amazes, and more often, confuses her. She knows nothing outside her prior home except the information her mother taunted her with and tends to assume the first kind of behavior she encounters is what's normal. She is highly suspicious of everyone, jumpy and nervous. But her body and soul are wary.

She knows there's one more fight ahead of her, then she can finally rest.

History

Tanana was born the runt in a litter of six to two parents enslaved by the Firekin. Her story is sad but there isn't much to tell. She was raised a slave for the son of their master. In the rebellion she escaped, and after learning her siblings were not, made plans to help them as well.

Notable Relationships

Those who have had the most influence, either directly or indirectly, on Tanana's life.

Family:

Siblings: All of Tanana's siblings have an equal effect on her. She was separated from all of them only a few weeks after they were born via being gifted to another 'owner'. The exception was Fatia, who she saw daily, so it can be said she may favor her. But Tanana's entire drive in life has always been her love for all her sisters and her brother, and to one day have them live happily.

Ohahira: Tanana's biological mother. She certainly holds no emotional attachment to her other than hate. Ohahira beat her and her siblings more than any of the Firekin ever had, and most of Tanana's scars are from her. She would often taunt them with talk of the free world, and if not for that, Tanana may have never hoped for escape to begin with. (See also: Family)

Friendship:

Tiruan: Tanana's first friend ever. He was not the first creature she saw after being freed, but the first she spoke to. He teaches her the do and don't, yes and no of the world outside the Firekin. She was terrified of him in the beginning. Slowly, very slowly, she is becoming attached to him as a companion.

Nitesh: Shortly after Tiruan, Tanana met Nitesh. His calm demeanor set her at ease enough to speak to him--after a while of hiding in a tree. He is the second in her set of traveling companions, and for some reason, she is slightly more suspicious of him than of Tiruan. Even so, she appreciates his company, and like Tiruan, is coming to adore him on an emotional level.

Romance:

---

Enemies:

Ohahira: Tanana's mother, who until she escaped, submit her children to regular beatings as means to vent her anger. Tanana has and will never view her as a mother. If not for her energy being spent better elsewhere, she'd want her head on a silver platter. (See also: Family)

Uzulu: Her parents master, and for a while, her master to. He fed them and only beat them when they got too out of line. No one wants an injured, starved lion who can barely move doing labor for them, after all. Still, he did beat them, and that's enough for Tanana. Of course, mostly, it's that he still enslaves some of her siblings. In the upcoming weeks, a battle between them will rage.

Kienge: Uzulu's son Tanana was given to as a gift, a "personal servant", if you will. She preformed tasks solely for him until she was freed. While Uzulu took a business approach with his slaves, Kienge often had Tanana do ridiculous things just for his own amusement. Tanana feels her energy is better spent on his father.

Mwokoti: The Goddess who enslaved Ohahira and led to the birth of she and her sisters. Tanana only knows her name and that she has violet eyes. She is not grateful Mwokoti led to their birth, she is spiteful of it.

Since she is nothing like her mother, Cricket assumes she favors the father she never knew. She is no nonsense with everything, and expects nothing less from those around her. Her high expectations leave her without many close relationships, because she nitpicks at flaws in others until they either leave, or tell her to shut up, then leave. As icing on top, she's also a control freak. Seriously. When Cricket decided to have children, she did so with a male she knew would leave, because she didn't want anyone else dictating her parenting.

Surprisingly enough, Cricket actually hates confrontation. She may get easily fired up, but she'll just as quickly cool down. Squabbles, verbal or physical, have her on edge and are best resolved through calm, quiet reasoning. She has the ability to keep her head on just right in almost every situation. She accepts life's failures much better than the failures of things alive, including death or loss.

Cricket might not readily look for the good in others, but there's some good in everyone, and that includes her. She is fiercely loyal and raises her children to be the same way. She also has a heart for dim-witted or meek creatures. Those, she takes pity on and never face the wrath of perfection anyone else would.

History

One of five children born from Gzifa. Cricket was left behind by her mother very young. She spent her puphood with her brother Pebble, learning of the world and forming opinions on this and that. When they were young adults they too managed to lose each other. Cricket spent time since then looking for her brother.

She came to accept her brother was gone, either forever lost from her or dead. Wanting a proper family, she had two sons. But just before that, she'd met her mother, who wanted to prove she was a good parent now by raising new pups of her own. She failed, left her new litter with Cricket and ran.

Cricket took the other five under her wing with her two sons, and raises all of them as her own.

Notable Relationships

Those who have had the most influence, either directly or indirectly, on Cricket's life.

Family:

Gzifa: Cricket's irresponsible mother who abandoned her and her siblings as pups, then later left a second litter with Cricket. She wants Cricket's approval and to be loved, and truth be told, Cricket wants to love her, too. She is angry with her, but also has pity her mother because she has pity for a fool. Gzifa is nothing if not a fool.

Pebble: The closet sibling to Cricket. He is the reason for the good in her, as minimal as it is in comparison to her more annoying side. They grew up together. Likely without each other, they'd have died. He always felt like an extra weight, being much like their mother, but it's a few extra pounds she always loved to have.

Orly, Ohemji, Bichi, Dazz'le and Sparkhel: The litter Gzifa abandoned with Cricket, including four boys and a girl (Ohemji). Cricket raises them as her children with her two boys. She had planned on traveling with her sons, but as two has become seven, is no longer able and must settle down to raise the group.

Friendship:

Mto and Lakisa: Two lions Cricket went on a weird sort of adventure with to bring a lion who had ditched his family to justice. Their efforts didn't succeed. Calling them friends? Probably a stretch. But they (mostly) eliminated the uncertainty and bias Cricket had against lions, so that's got to count for something.
