Name: Vár
Domain: Oaths
Physical Description: Sandy blonde and tans, a gold headband, white horns, an oath ring around her neck bearing a drinking horn and another oath ring around her left leg, a couple of rings on her tail, and feathered wings. A head-tuft with a single long braid on each side of her head, weighted with gold rings.
Concept: Her job is to make sure that those who make true oaths keep them. Those who make a contractually binding oath can be considered under her watch, if they break the oath she punishes them (usually a bit excessively). Her job is, basically, to assure that oaths are binding, and are taken seriously, making them more than a mere promise. Due to time constraints she can’t punish every oath breaker, but if an oath is broken and there is a victim crying foul she is more likely to punish the breaker, and she has a long memory. If an oath is made that invokes her specifically, she will show up to observe it and make sure the party/parties know what they’re signing up for, including the statement of what punishments will result from a broken oath. She will perform this rite for any mortal or god, making it much like a ritual. She’s like a notary with added violence.
Temporary Powers: [Up to three. Be very specific with what they can do/can't do.] 1 – The knowledge of any oath broken 2 – No false-oath may can be spoken in her presence. 3 – The ability to enforce any punishment laid down in the ritual swearing of oaths (ones where she is invoked and present)
Permanent Power: Unbreakable Oath- She can force one who has made an oath to follow through with it, regardless of how they may feel later. For instance, if one swears that they will obey another, they will have no choice but to obey until they die, no matter how their feelings change or how much they may regret it later. An unbreakable oath cannot be forced, it has to be requested and accepted by any party involved in the oath. It is a constant stress on her being, however, so she’s not too keen to use it without darn good reason.
