"Ah, too restless? Well, want to go exploring around the borders?" he suggested.

Now this was strange. Adi'sa...being adventurous? Surely, something had happened in the night and he'd switched personalities with Tailsin perhaps...

"I haven't been there since I was a cub, don't remember anything of what's beyond here really."

If Tailsin was indeed still pining for the family she had come to see, than it might have been bittersweet to say that Adi had never been happier. He'll always carry his experience with him - you never forget the sight of death - but it finally started to feel like maybe he was allowed to make friends again, to think about what's coming next. Those thoughts had terrified him before. Always afraid to do anything or say certain things should he lose the lions he met.

"Yes ok, we can go and explore, that sounds like fun!" She smiled and got up, stretching her legs. She had been near the borders with Yua. She couldn't help but wonder how the old thing was doing. He wasn't really that old either but she liked to think of him being wiser then her so in her head he was older.

"Lead the way then Adi!" She smiled, allowing herself to calm down a little, she couldn't be a grumpy thing all her life now and it was clear that it seemed somewhat confusing when she wasn't her happy self. Maybe it would be best to talk about things? Maybe she would leave it for a while. Adi was a good friend but she didn't want to burden him with her troubles.

Aaah, thats better. Adi smiled back at his friend, and his entire form seemed to lift.

"Well, I might not remember the EXACT way to the borders, but I'm sure if we just keep going until we recognise something, we'll be fine," he said as he began to pad away down the path he'd come.

"Have you had anything to eat or drink this morning?" he asked idly.

She let him lead the way, after all then she could check to see if that evil bird tried to come back. Tailsin was not keen on that bird one bit. It was strange that Tailsin would get so protective over someone but then again, Adi was her best friend in this strange place.

"Nope." A nice short answer but this morning she had just wanted to see Adi then that bird came along and she forgot all about eating, in fact she didn't care for it one bit! However the mention of food now did make her slightly hungry.

"We going hunting too then?" She was a little hopeful, her stomach was craving food!

"Aye, I'm ravished too. I had a rather colourful interlude to distract me this morning," he chortled as he smirked at Tailsin, making reference to 'rescuing' his avian friend from being eaten most likely.

"Maybe we'll come across something exotic as we approach the borders, I doubt that we have EVERYTHING here in our lands. It'd be marvellous to see something new."

They passed Adi's 'quiet spot', and then the streams where Tailsin first got him to play 'splash,' and gradually, the scenery began to change. Ever so slightly. Leaf colour, the humidity, the smells. All very subtle but changes that were there none-the-less.

Adi stopped slowly and seemed to carry himself a bit lower, more sneakily. He sniffed the air and swivelled his ears. As the forested bits opened out a bit, there was a small herd of kudu grazing.

Tailsin just shook her head, "Well she should keep that beak of hers shut." She smirked as she spoke plotting in her head how to remove that bird from their lives. She didn't think it was possible but it wouldn't stop her trying anyway.

She followed Adi happy to just be able to walk with him without having to say anything. She was in an odd mood today, not that playful at all. She was quite mellow and content. Strange for her and seemingly out of character but then again can one really be playful all the time?

Tailsin noticed Adi's posture change and so also crouched down, shuffling forward quietly. She could smell the herd but Adi was clearly leading this hunt, and so, she let him lead.

Adi was not the most expert hunter out there, and basically followed his instincts. Tawa'di had done his best to educate the petulent little cub that he was, but he did have ageing bones and not much speed left in him. Still, Adi knew enough to get the job done.

He crept forward just a little more, thankful that he'd been blessed with a dark pelt that gave him the chance to sink in and out of earthy shadows. In the blink of an eye, he charged forward, his great form breaking up the kudu herd as they sprang for safety in every direction.

All, save for one.

It might have seemed a total clash of character for one so meek as Adi to have his jaws clamped tight on an innocent creature's neck, waiting with a calculated lust for the last breath. But, a lion has to eat.

Feeling its last sign of life fade, Adi dropped it to the ground and sort of wiggled his lips and tongue to get the feeling back, and then nodded for Tailsin to join him.

Tailsin could never recall watching Adi hunt and in a way it amused her. He was larger then she was, more fat on his body and watching him killing something just amused her. She loved her friend and just chuckled to herself before joining him.

"Adi you must hunt with an audience more often, you would keep them entertained for hours!" She giggled. She was sure he would know she was joking after all how often was it that Tailsin was actually serious about something?

However she wanted to be serious, she wanted to just talk to Adi about her feelings but something was blocking her. As if was she to talk to him about such things he wouldn't see her in the same way and might dislike her, or something. It was strange and she wasn't sure why she felt it but she did and it confused her.

"Thank You Adi!" She smiled and with her claws started to tear into the meal.

Adi'sa just gave a her a look and rolled his eyes as he smiled.

"At least hunting is never a tedious thing," he chuckled.

He actually waited for Tailsin to take her pick first, he wasn't sure why, it just felt more polite for the lady to go first, and he watched patiently as she began. He licked some of the blood off his paws, which was pointless since he'd have to get them dirty all over again in a moment.

"What was...is...your mother like?" he asked suddenly, not even looking at her. He was staring into the sky, looking at the passing clouds. He had to correct himself, as it was highly possible Tailsin's family were still alive.

Tailsin looked up suddenly at Adi in shock. Why did he was he asking about her mother? That seemed somewhat out of the blue. She knew he could see dead spirits or something, oh no did that mean?

"Why do you want to know?" Her whole posture and the way she spoke changed. She was somewhat defensive but very sad at the same time. She missed her mother, she had been very close to her. She had inherited her blackness from her mother, though her father had been of another clan, and it was his eyes that she had. He had been a dark brown, near black but most definatly brown. Oh how she missed them so much.

"Mother was lovely." That was all she was going to say without a reason as to why Adi asked the question.

He looked at her, a little shocked at her reaction, but he carried on regardless.

"I...don't remember my mother much...only bits, like what she looked like. Is it sad...or horrible...that I can't even remember my own mother?" he spoke aloud, but there was the distinct feeling that his mind was elsewhere.

He didn't appear to be or even sound sad at the mention of his mother. But what did he lament? Never knowing her? How cruelly she was taken from him? He wasn't sure anymore.

What Tailsin did next she wasn't sure if it was because she felt as if she was comforting Adi or that she herself wanted comforting. However when he asked if it was bad that he couldn't remember his own mother she moved over to him and buried her head into his mane, nuzzling him a little.

"I miss my mother.... I had hoped so much she would be here." There wasn't much else that Tailsin could say. She had been thinking about her family for so long and now Adi had opened it up into the open and she was just holding herself together. She wasn't going to break down infront of Adi, that would make her look silly!

EEERRRRRRRRK! What's she doing? If Adi'sa had seen her move towards him, he would have flinched thinking she was going to pounce him or something! But because of his wandering mind, he was totally oblivious to her advance and only knew of her presence when she was there, half-buried in his mane.

What to do? Tailsin was obviously affected by the conversation topic, and unfortunately, Adi'sa was the one to start it. He looked down to her, feeling a sudden desire to keep her safe. He saw in her so many things that reminded him of his own vulnerability, especially when he was younger, and how much he had needed someone to be there for him

Tawa'di was his saviour, and so now, Adi'sa could be Tailsin's.

He leaned down a bit and gently returned the nuzzle.

"I'm sorry Tailsin...I didn't mean...I'm sure your mother is fine. She could be another lost soul out there, just like you were. She'll find her way here, I'm sure."
PostPosted: Sat Mar 08, 2008 9:39 am

Tailsin let a soft smile cross her maw as he nuzzled back, probably because she hadn't expected it and for some reason it gave her a strange feeling of contentness. She missed her family terribly but just for a moment it didn't matter and that confused the lioness even more. She just sat there, leaning on him and listening to his words. They did comfort her but yet still in her heart she knew what he said was not true.

"It's okay Adi, I know she won't come. I just know." She didn't want to explain how she just knew and part of her thought that he would understand anyway. So she just let that moment linger a little longer as she leant on him but then she moved away, after all Adi probably didn't want her leaning on him. It just felt so... safe.

She moved away and gave him something of a feeble smile.

"Maybe we should head back? That bird of yours will be missing you."

This was quite nice. Adi'sa was as confused as Tailsin though - he didn't quite know why this felt so comfortable, and almost lamented her departure from him. But then he was struck with a similar feeling - perhaps lingering too much would be a bad thing. The whole experience left him a little 'twitter-pated' actually, his head all fuzzy as if it had fallen asleep whilst the rest of him was awake.

"Yeah, we can always come back another day. There's lots of time to explore," he offered a smile, know thats why they had ventured this way in the first place.

He wasn't sure whether to pursue the matter further, but he was at a loss for words really. If he insisted too much on Tailsin's family, then it was akin to building up false hope. But would silence be the wrong option too?

He looked down at the carcass, which he had yet to eat from, and grabbed a limb in his mouth to proceed dragging it with him.
