(guyax was responsible for teaching a generation of teens and adults, that it was ok to use your imagination. Something that back in the late 70's and early 80's, was relegated to the dominion of children. He made it possible for people to use their minds to reach a certain level of escapeism through the medium of pencil and paper, which in turn made it acceptable for people to dress up as their favorite character in real life. His vision made it possible and plausible for a generation of kids to rebel and express it through fashion [punk] which led on to darkwave and goth, all supported by musical artists who were also influenced by his game, and so forth and so on till we have reached today. So yes, virginia, gary guyax was one of the founding great-grandfathers of the Gothic movement.)

I have a friend who does D&D regularly, but I don't know if he knows this yet.
I've only played the game once, but enjoyed it very much. Gygax had good vision to help make the entire thing.
