I guess I haven't answered yet.

I'd take along a nice, thick, blank notebook and a few pencils and pens. Because naturally I'd make a journal documenting every day of my adventure. And when the crisis ended (here's to praying it would eventually end) I'd write one helluva book.

Good idea.

Well, assuming I get to choose my primary BOL (forested out-skirts of the city), I'd probably take along: a harmonica, carving tool, a book or two, as well as my MP3 player. Perhaps some drawing paper, too.

EDIT: Perhaps a writing diary for an Anne-Frank kind of thing.

I was actually going to post a total loadout thread, actually.

My MP3 player and I'd steal one of those solar chargers.

My Mp3 player also has a microphone so I could use it as a diary of sorts.

Lets see...

- 2 or 3 sketchbooks. Gotta keep my artistic skills up
- pencils and pens for the previous
- wallet XD great way to carry the following; pics of family/ gf, lovenotes and lucky coins, credit/debit card/cash in case the apocolypse isnt as bad as it seems
- wanna say my laptop and a flash drive for journal purposes, as well as a way to charge an mp3 player, but it is alittle heavy and power sources would be rare...
-my old teddy. if anything its a symbol of when things were normal
-Scrabble =P

And for the astroglide comment... *tactical face palm*

Everything I intend to bring is already packed up in my survival bags to handle any disaster where I'd need to bug out.(aside from my laptop, which IS a survival item for me because it houses documentation and operations manuals for a lot of firearms as well as a lot of reference documents, it's also a useful tool for getting into things because once you get power supplied to a server(via a looted generator) you can get access to all remaining functional internet nodes).

You should probably print those out

If Fallout 3 is any hint of the actual post apocalyptic world, you should probably save Chess pieces and a manual on how to play Chess.

A fellow student had the idea of taking exersize bikes and attaching small rotars on them to generate electricity.
Using either car batteries to store the power or some other kind of battery.

Then the people who are too stupid to work a field or any such thing charge the batteries.
Or of course, it could be a form of punishment or just a type of work detail.
IMO;
I'd rather ride a bike than work in a damn field.

Thats not such a bad idea actually. It's alittle bulky, but keep it in the back of a pickup truck and it could have its uses.

There's no sense burning what little gas there would be left in the world for gas generators, im sure there would be some way humanity would figure out how to get things going again

Side note; while watching "Life After Humans" They said that the Hoover Dam would produce power for a good hundred years until the tunnels that run the water to the generators get jammed by sealife, so maybe thats a good destination of the would goes fubar.
