A wry grin played about his face, unseen by the uninvited visitor. "If you cannot find a demon in the darkness, you are certainly no match for the creatures that dwell here." He chuckled softly, the sound hard to pinpoint in the dead air. It seemed to come from all around and yet nowhere at once. "Tell me, why have you come here?" He began circling her in the shadows, silent as death. Ranoll was indeed sizing her up, curious what her intentions might be. She wasn't bad to look at and he wasn't so quick to drive her away.

Velvet laughs again, a high musical tone seeming very out of place in such dark surroundings. “I have no fear of you, or any other creature that may cross my path. As it happens I was simply out exploring, seeing what might lie out beyond my home when I lost my bearings and wound up here. I seem to have found my way again, though, so if you will excuse me.” She turns and begins walking up the path again, keeping an ear turned toward where she knows he is. “I haven’t had a bite to eat yet today, and as amusing as strange voices from shadows may be, they’re not very filling” she grins, her tail swishing in a taunting manner.

His grin widened. "You're a bold one." He stepped out of the shadows into the scant light of the moon, his dark form still shadowed save for his white hair. "Let me warn you but one more time. You should fear what is in these woods." He was still grinning at her. What a foolish creature to not know how lucky she was that Malum hadn't happened upon her. "I can see that you are brave, but don't let bravery lead into stupidity." He folded his arms across his chest as he studied her. He wondered what would possess a creature to wander so near his home, considering so many never returned. His family should be legendary by now. No matter. "What's your name?"

She pauses in her stride, turning and raising an eyebrow to him, considering his words carefully. “Bravery and confidence in ones abilities is not exactly the same thing. If it is my fate to die here tonight beneath theses strange trees, then I shall face it with excitement, not fear. However, it is not my wish to die so young. I shall keep your words in mind.” Her ever-present smile widens slightly as she looks the raccoon over, clasping her hands behind her back. She has not met many of her own kind, and it was refreshing to happen upon someone new. “My name is Velvet.” she gives a slight curtsey to him, keeping her hands behind her back and her eyes on his. “And what might your name be?”

He regarded her with curiosity. Here, clearly, was another demon with class and a presence of mind. He was intrigued. He kept his arms folded casually across his chest as he gave her a short dip of a bow, keeping his eyes on hers. "I am Ranoll." He righted himself and smiled strangely at her. "I have a half sister named Velvet." He gave an ironic sort of laugh, his feelings about his half sister unclear. "Though I think you are a bit older than her." He looked at her with different eyes, as if trying to assess something.

She giggles softly. “How fortunate of her to have such a lovely name, and to be related to someone so distinguished. I have no family, myself…” She trails off, her face clouding over with sadness, but it’s just a brief flash before she shakes her head and brightens up again. “But that’s neither here nor there.” She giggles again, brightening back up. Then her empty belly lets out a low, rumbling, and quite audible groan. Quickly, she clasps her hands over her abdomen, obviously very embarrassed.

He snorted derisively. "She is but a half sister. My father's daughter with another female. The little halfling is related to no one distinguished." He clearly did not favor his sister Velvet, or her twin Marilena. Neither young demon are a recognized member of the family, since their lineage could not be traced back to Adonnenniel and Malis. Ranoll laughed softly. "But I'll agree her name is lovely." He looked at the female before him with amusement as her stomach announced its needs. "Come. There is food within the castle." He gestured down a path. "I'll have to lead you." He wondered vaguely why he was leading a stranger to his home already. A sardonic smile spread across his face as he thought about his grandmother's reaction. Oh well. He'll smooth it over later.

She frowned slightly at his obvious disdain for this half sister. She couldn’t fathom feeling this way about anyone with the same blood flowing through their veins, no matter how diluted it was. Perhaps it was just her loneliness that caused her to feel this way. Her eyes follow the direction he was pointing to, staring at the darkness that led deeper into the woods and further from where she knew home to be. She fidgets from foot to foot, momentarily indecisive; her tail twitching and swishing nervously behind her. What was it about this raccoon that would cause her to feel so? It was not like her to be this way. A final gurgle from her belly, and her mind was set. She nods and follows along behind Ranoll, looking around for landmarks to help her find her way if she found a quick exit to be inevitable.

Her uneasiness amused him as he led her through the winding and confusing maze of paths that lead to his home. He purposely took her on a few wrong turns, feigning an uncertainty in direction before taking her down the correct paths. It was the common practice that none should learn the way to their home, even welcome guests. Still, he made no attempt to assuage her fears, enjoying her nervousness. He was quiet as they walked, not one for idle chatter. When they finally reached the castle he moved to the door and held it open for Velvet. Inside and to the right was a large dining room which was still faintly lit.

Her eyes widened slightly as she entered into the foyer. She had quite distinctly heard him say castle, but this was quite clearly more than she was expecting. She turns her head up into the darkness, just making out the ceiling far above before turning to the light coming from the right. Stepping softly, she enters the dimly lit room, her eyes darting everywhere to take it all in. she smiles as she turns to him. “You have a beautiful home, Ranoll. It’s so lovely.” She walks along the dining table, trailing a finger along the top, waiting for an invitation to sit down.

Pydra strolled through the rose garden, she had spent so many lonely days as a child wandering it's paths, speaking with the flowers and envying the attention her mother paid them instead of her. She had a jealousy of them a love hate relationship, thoughts of tearing them aart, but there would be no satisfaction in that, they didn't bleed like everyone else did. She would leave that thought to her self as she wandered. She finally came to the nursery at the center, how many nights she'd been left here to watch over the newest eggs, like she had never been one of them but instead her only purpose was to guard the new family members. A slight ache filled her heart, she longed to lay her own eggs in those soft beds, waiting for the day her own childrens laughter would echo through the halls of this great home. She traced her finger tips across the worn wood of it's door and smiled, she was still a part of this great family. She continued to wander through the garden when she saw her mother, again her heart ached as shesaw how her mother loved those flowers and tended them so carefully. She walked quietly ofer to her, "Good evening mother." She said softly, her voice low and soft.

Sylwia had been sitting in the nursery playing with her sister who was still a baby. She had a feeling she would be growing soon, so she was always close by so that she could be there when her sister grew. She looked up when she heard a voice outside. Putting her baby sister down in the small crib, she opened the door of the nursery and saw her mother in her garden along with her sister. She walked out of the nursery, closed the door, and started to walk up to her sister from behind. Her sister did not know she had grown, and neither did her mother, so this was going to be a big surprise for them. She stayed quiet, wanting to watch their interaction a bit before cutting in.

Adonnenniel glanced up from tending a few of her roses when she was addressed. "Good evening, Pydra dear." She righted herself from her bent posture and smoothed out her clothing, giving Pydra a once-over. She stiffened suddenly, looking past Pydra. Her eyes revealed nothing as she gazed at her newly grown daughter. "Sylwia. You are looking well. How is Viray?" Her voice was calm and emotionless as always, and she turned a disinterested eye back to Pydra. "Seems you have one less charge under your care," she said softly. 'Sylwia, it is time you found a room in the castle."

Pydra frowned at her mother then turned to see her sister. "You look lovely young sister." Her voice was low and cold, empty of emotion. She turned back to her mother, walking over to see the newly planted baby roses at her feet. Visions of ripping them from the ground flashed through her mind, and she frowned at her mother. "Why do you value my so little mother? What has made me so distasteful? You cherish your other children and your roses even before me." She turned away, so angry, she flexed her paws, wanting to run into the forest surrounding their home, and tear the next living soul she found limb from limb.

The tiny egg shook ever so slightly in it place, Nestled between the eggs of it's sisters it started to shake violently. Alys was the last egg, the smallest would always be the little one in the trio. She frowned in the perfect dark of her egg and wiggled a little, her tiny claws scarping little by little at the thick shell. At this rate she'd be grown before she managed to break out. She made tiny whining noises as she tried furiously to free her self from her little egg. She could hear the sounds of her sisters eggs near by, tiny cracking sounds. Again she would be last, last egg born meant last to hatch. She franticly clawed at the egg, trying to join her sisters in the huge world outside.
