What makes a game good?

I can think of a couple classic games where all the graphics are pixels. Pong, space invaders, pacman.

Notice how Starcraft original, a game with extremely dated graphics, is still pretty much the best RTS to date.

Well... I was more referencing more of the recent trend in games, but you are right. 3nodding
Some of those timeless classic games, although where graphically superior for their time, are still fun to play in this day and age.

hellz yeah I would gladly go back and play Super Mario RPG, Street Fighter 2 or Legend of Zelda a Link 2 da past.........if only my mom hadn't given away my SNES ...DAMMIT T.T

Graphics have nothing to do with a game's quality. Look at Crysis. That game has the most developed graphics in history. Does that stop the game from sucking? Sure doesn't.

But I'm sure you wouldn't want to be seeing a game that forces you to use a pixel to run around in the game when there's tons of other indistinguishable pixels there as well. There has to be a middle ground which was what I think he meant when he said "decent graphics".

Unique ways of making it stand out from the other games is another good thing.

My idea of a perfect game is a mix of play styles. Mission-based, race, shooting, platform, and turn-based.
