BeXlieXve I understand... but between 16 months and 100 years, I'd much rather be out in 16 months. I'm not in the military, so my opinion might not be the same just for that reason. My cousin's husband died in Iraq, though, and it seems... meaningless to me, by now. I mean, I understand that it would be best if we could fix everything and be seen as heroes. But is that going to happen? I think the Iraqi people would just be happier if we left all together. Are any of you guys in Iraq? Maybe you can offer me some more insight into this. P.S. Ratri, your signature is too funny. XD Thanks!
It's not going to be a hundred years. Probably another decade, if that. you're making the same mistake as other people. Just because we get out sooner doesn't mean the situation is dealt with. Just because we leave right now, or very soon doesn't mean that everything is hunky dory once we leave. We left Afghanistan far too soon way back in '89. And then the Mujahadeen fell apart. Then the Taliban came in and unleashed fundamentalist hell. All it took was time and effort to fix mistakes and deal with them effectively. This whole gig in Iraq area should have been dealt back in the Gulf War, when we had the opportunity to set things right. But no, we dawdled and decided to scootch out as quick as possible, and now we are feeling the after affects of the messes we fail to clean up.

Yes, I suppose you do have a point... Still, I can't help but feel that it's been dragged on for too long.

i really think religion has something to do with how a leader formulates his policies.
anyway, not because your father or stepdad is a Muslim would it also mean that you're a Muslim. it's not a race.
but people say he knows how to read the Qur'an. he had an Islamic study (in Madrasas) when he was still young and living in Indonesia. they may be right.
i think he's way better than McCain. McCain's approach of campaigning is so bad. Ad hominem I call those. could qualify but already too much. But I'm for Hillary. biggrin biggrin

Hillary is out of the game and will be cheering on John McCain.
Ad hominem is on both sides of the campaign. It's nothing new in politics.
AAaaahnd...obama's lack of real experience with dealing internationally is a put down. Quite frankly, i'd like to under a leader that knows what the hell he's sending his soldiers to and how to act appropriately in the international arena [mostly because I'll be an army combat nurse by then]. Obama's call on the Russia-Georgia issue was....bad.

Ratri: Hillary is out of the race, but she's on Obama's side.
Zaaki: If Obama wins, he will be president. He won against Hillary, so that made him the Democratic nominee. John McCain won against others on his side, so he's the Republican nominee.
So now it's John McCain against Barack Obama, and whoever wins in November will be the president of the United States.
Phoenixia: You can still have an opinion. 3nodding

But she had made it clear that she wants to be the next presidential nominee in...8 years from now. Next trial. If obama becomes prez, then she wouldn't be able to run against him. If mc cain wins, then she can run again, because there would be a new prez nominee for teh dems and mccain would be too far gone to run another race. but whatever, it's obama and mccain now. are you old enough to vote? xp i have to get an absentee ballot. i feel special.
