What's are the differences between colored shotgun shells? The only color I've seen them in is red. And are all reds 12-g, or can they be 10-g as well?
It is all up to the Manufacturer. The only standard is that 20gauge must be yellow so people don't get 20 and 16 gauge shells mixed up.
White and clear do tend to be used for the less conventional/specialty rounds such as flechette, 00'and bird shot mix. However, there are several companies that do use clear shells for 00' buck such as S&B, Wolf, and "Rottweil" (never heard of them). I found a thread about it.
