Meaning: Noble child

History: One of many daughters of Nyekundu, Kimiko's early cubhood was spent at the oasis her father's 'pride' called home. She doesn't recall having ever MET the lion, but she was told by Toshiro that her oldest litter-sister got the streak on her body from him... Except his was pink. She detested the color, and to some extent green.

Ever the princess-complex, she left the oasis as an adolcent with Toshiro, for who knew where. They soon arrived outside the Pridelands, where Toshiro took into his posession one of his sons, Shin. Kimiko learned fast that he was fun to 'play' with, leaving the cub with many scars.

As an adolescent, she found herself smitten by Shin's uncle, Toshiro's half-brother Sairin. The problem was... He didn't know she exhisted. And it stayed that way, as her dismissal of Toshiro backfired. Beaten and bleeding, she ran off to unknown lands, hiding for what felt like months. She didn't depart the lands of far until she'd had her first litter - Three cubs, one living daughter, the other son and daughter stillborn. Ashamed of herself, she left her daughter with her sister, Chau.

Still broken spiritually, she traveled northward, where she found herself shoved into the life of a slave. Kept first by Kiunguza and Bodaway, when war broke out, she chose to stay where she felt she belonged - Amid the slaves. Showing loyalty, she began to stay with the old storyteller, Ripuka, and her daughter, Jua'taka.


Personality: Once a cruel and fierce lioness, being beaten multiple times has changed Kimiko's outlook on life. She lives in the belief that being a slave is divine punishment for her being cruel to others, rejecting her sisters, and shoving her children away - Even if it was to keep them safe from living her fate.

Name: Shin
Meaning: True

Mother: Tufani
Father: Toshiro
Sibblings: Radi, Kibela, Sekizen, Mvua, Nariko
Offspring: Taichi, Melhor Pax

History: Born in the Pridelands, Shin met his father when just a cub, going on juvenile. It was as a juvenile that Toshiro took him away from the Pridelands for increasingly long periods of time. While his mother was a sweet and caring lioness, Toshiro proved to be just the opposite. Subsequently, Shin lived in a world filled with physical and emotional pain.

When an adolescent, he met Kabichi and became smitten. But his father wasn't too happy to find this out and went after them. They ran, finding their way to the Kusini'mwezi lands, where Shin learned he had an uncle. With Sairin at their side, Shin and Kabichi returned to the Pridelands, where his father was run off.

It was some months later that Kabichi produced two sons - One as dark in pelt as Shin and his family, but as blue eyed as Kabichi, and the other as pure-coated as snow but red-eyed as Shin was. Having hope for their fledgeling family, Shin settled with the lioness he'd come to love.

When Kabichi was stolen away, and returned with three cubs in towe and a bit amnesiatic, Shin stayed with her and has vowed to help raise the cubs as if they were his own children. He hopes, too, that Tai doesn't come back in pieces after leaving to find Toshiro.


Personality: A timid and gentle lion, Shin is easily intimidated and finds it hard to stand up to those that scare him. He does the best he can, though, and loves his faimly, as big as it is.

Name: Shetani
Meaning: Devil; demon; evil spirit

Father: Ezeoha
Sibblings: Quite a lot...
Offspring: Yu

History: Born in the Pridelands as the progeny of second-cousins, Shetani spent her whole youth questioning just where she fit in and how others looked at her. As a juvenile, she left to figure out who she is, wandering far and wide. Out on the path about, she met first Toshiro, who while he wanted something from her, he didn't act on it. Instead, they spent a night simply sleeping in harmless company, Shetani finding something of protection around him. She then met Toshiro's half-brother, Sairin. Their meeting resulted in a single cub, Yu.

While Yu grew, Shetani remained on the fringes of everything, simply wandering with her son. Then he went missing, and she's begun to search for him.


Personality: Doubtful of herself, Shetani questions everything and why everything happens. She has a hard time showing emotions, even to those close to her.

Name: Jua'taka
Meaning: Want the sun

Mother: Ripuka
Father: Danzi (Makaa'kali)

Offspring: None

History: The only daughter of the Motoujamii storyteller Ripuka, Jua discovered early on that she was gifted as a seer. At first puzzled by what started as dreams of a fiery-orange lion on the promenade of a rock formation, she learned fast who and what her father really was. She instantly hated him for it, but refused to tell anyone, her mother especially. Deep down, she knew that it would cause her mother far too much harm. So she grew up, distant from others, keeping to herself and only worrying about family, the stories her mother told her, and Finar-si.

When war broke out, she found her lost litter-brother, Azarax, amid all the lions. To Jua, he represented the outward evidence of their father's trickery, and she confided in him. He was only the second lion she ever had and ever would tell. Then a vision struck, and she sent Azarax to save Ripuka from certain death at the paws of a former slave.

With all the fighting subsided and the Safi finding their numbers far smaller than those of the Simo, Jua's finally found some time to socialise with others. Having claimed the surprisingly loyal slave Kimiko for her family, and entrusting the scarred lioness with watching Ripuka, Jua spends more and more time hunting, now and then stopping to talk with others.

In the aftermath of the fighting, too, she's finally forgiven Danzi, having seen how he truly cares about Ripuka. As she's percieved it, a lion truly in love will place himself in direct danger to be with the one he loves.


Personality: As harsh as the desert she lives in, Jua cares deeply about her mother and brother Wakia. The only conflict she has, emotionally, is about her father, as the Traditionalist in her condemns him for not being of The Blood, while the part of her that knows she herself is tainted blood admires him for his bravery and dedication. She is indiferent to others, and shows some outward hostility at the idea of socialising with the royal lions, particularly Sinbad.

Name: Kito
Meaning: Jewel

Mother: Colche
Father: Korou
Sibblings: A lot XD;
Offspring: Turanga, Kif, Silvatica, Shinsei Batsu

History: Born a rogue to rogue cheetah parents, Kito got lost as a cub while chasing a bird. Finding herself at the doorstep of an animal sanctuary, she was taken in and fed. There she spent the whole of her youth, befriending a young hyena named Tuna. He became a surrogate brother to her, watching over her, and even helping her get out into the wild world again. Together, they set off to find Kito's family.

When she found them, she'd found her way to the Duma'chama lands, where she regretably parted ways with her dear friend. Now home, she soon met the odd cheetah, Jani'Esquillo, who climbed around in trees. By the time they parted ways, she was carrying four cubs by him.


Personality: Sweet and gentle, Kito does her best to not get on someone's bad side. She can be timid, and sometimes foolish, but her heart's in the right place. She loves nothing more than being around her family.

Meaning: Right

History: I'll fill this in later...


Personality: Harmonious and musical, Haki hears music everywhere. Because of this, he earned the nickname Songbird from a former friend.

Name: Savitri
Meaning: Relating to the sun

Mother: Kiunguza
Father: Bodawa
Sibblings: Shupavu, Minoru; Nususi, Chanda, Waka, Umlilo; Moto'ubele, Kuroi'kumo, Kuragi Sarai, Kileldi, Shotoinin, Mahewa
Offspring: None

History: The middle daughter of two Firekin, Savitri realized early on that she was externally different from the other Firekin. She spent most of her life belittling herself, thinking herself inferior for her lack of markings.

She found one friend in her life, in the Pridelander Hodari. She went back to the border of the desert and Pridelands often to play with him, but when war broke out, she ran the other way. When she saw him again, they were both adolescents, and it seemed things had changed between them.

How they've changed is yet to be seen...


Personality: Self-pitying, Savitri believes her snowy white pelt is a curse from Finar-si. She envies all with even a small marking, even the storyteller family's slave.

Meaning: Reason, logic

History: One of the last offspring of the huntress Tisha and the former Kusini'mwezi king, Asikari. Not much else to tell.


Personality: Not much of one.

Name: Raziel
Meaning: Secret keeper of God

Mother: Schatz
Father: Mabozi
Sibblings: Micah, Baal
Offspring: None

History: The runt of his litter, Raziel thanks whatever god was watching that his mother didn't kill him as soon as he was born. Weaker than his sister and much larger brother, Raziel hid amid the bones to simply think and learn. In one of his rare forays, he met a couple lion cubs, which he saved from being eaten by his mother by talking circles. He's hidden from his mother, and subsequently his grandmother, since.


Personality: More of a thinker than a doer, Raziel would sooner have somebody else do all the hard work, while he plans it out. He has a compassionate side for lions, seeing them as simply trying to survive with what they have as the hyenas do.

Meaning: Large one

Mother: Kabichi
Father: Shin

Personality: Headstrong and a touch sadistic, Tai has a taste for blood(Though not like his grandfather). Protective of his mother, and particularly his great-grandmother("Grannie"), he'll seek out to punish those who harm them.

Name: Yu (Jiang)
Meaning: Rain (Yangtze River)

Mother: Shetani
Father: Sairin
Sibblings: None
Offspring: None

History: Born a rogue to a rogue mother, Yu never found out from his mother that he had any royal or inbred blood in his lineage. All he knew was that he was a rogue, and his mother had family in the Pridelands. Feeling no connection, though, he found something that called to him more.

He met Ahali, king of the Tianxia, while a juvenile, and agreed to go with him to the Highlands. Wanting to prove himself to the king as worthy of being in the central house, he's vowed to be a loyal guard to the royal family.


Personality: Willing to please others, Yu tries to figure out before he asks just what questions TO ask.

Name: Kohpi
Meaning: None

Mother: Mioyo
Father: Kohrisu
Sibblings: Shupavu, Minoru; Kabichi; Vaskezu
Offspring: Quite a few...

History: A runt at birth like her sister, Kohpi grew up with just her mother around - She knew she had a sister, Kabichi, but she hadn't seen her in what felt like forever. It was while she wandered with her mother that she met the leopard Mkorogo, whom she clung to like a beloved teddy bear.

When she fell pregnant by a rogue, Mkorogo stayed with her, earning a respect from her for it. It was when Mkorogo took the cubs with him away from Kohpi for safety that the hare Darshana came into her life, sticking by her side as a guide.

Some time later, Kohpi met Ezeoha, who easily charmed her. She bore 7 cubs, three girls and four boys, though she's had a hard time keeping them all together - One's vanished from the Pridelands area, worrying her. The others have shown a liking of their father's home, though the youngest and smallest follows her around like a tiny gold shadow.


Personality: Childish and acting niave, Kophi hides the intelligence she has behind a mask of eternal cubhood. She cares deeply for those around her, no matter how fleeting the meeting, and has a sense of honor as well as a good concience - Even when Kimiko attacked her, she unburried the lioness from the sand that had burried her when they ran across the dunes.

Name: Darshana
Meaning: Seeing, understanding, philosophy

Mother: Parvati
Father: Shiva
Sibblings: Brahma
Offspring: Amadeus, Wazo, Negi Mehet, Istshe'luhlaza

History: A commoner hare in a warren of hares, Darshana led an average life, if only for one thing - Her brother .She grew up somewhat keeping watch over him, as he proved to be prone to delusions and insanity. This was something their parents had expected, as Darshana's paternal grandfather had been insane, as had their uncle.

Not long after Jareth left the warren, Darshana left with Asikiri. Together, they met the lioness Mioyo and her young daughter, Kohpi. Through connections in the savannah, as well as Jareth, they soon located the lionesses' family, where they settled into a life of safety.

It was in this cozy life that Darshana caught Jareth off-guard, charming him in a way she'd been unable to in years past. Blessed with four kittens, they did the best they could in raising, though one proved to have inherited the insanity present in Darshana's family. It's unknown if any future kittens will have the same unstable mind.


Personality: A caring hare, Darshana shows great levels of patience. To her, Kohpi is like one very large kitten, more than capable of killing her without trying but lacking the desire to. She can be charming and cunning when the need arises, though her skills in persuasion and influence are generally unshown. While she can be a flirt, she'll never be with anyone but Jareth. She has a deeply ingrained fear of birds of prey.

Name: Tuna
Meaning: Act high and mighty

Mother: Taliba
Father: Angaza
Sibblings: 4 half sibblings by Angaza
Offspring: None

History: Born to a captive hyena pack, Tuna had a semi-privelidged life being the only grandson of the alpha. While he was used to the life in the sanctuary they lived in, he was also alone. That ended when a young cheetah cub was brought in, found wandering literally at the sanctuary doorstep. They became fast friends, though she made it clear she still longed for the life of freedom. As adolscents, they dug their way out and headed out to find Kito's family. Tuna never looked back.

When he'd delivered Kito to the Duma'chama, he found the current leader at the time to be a seer like he was. He knew without asking that he wasn't a welcom addition to the coalition lands, as it was a land for cheetahs and only. For this reason, he bid his good friend goodbye and left, heading to find his on way. It was while on the road that he met a young hyena pup named Fakhir, as well as his litter-brother, Zuberi. He had found his own family, or a piece of it.


Personality: Acting as neutral as possible, Tuna looks at everything from every angle he can with as much information as he can gleen. While he doesn't often like the idea of coming out of the comfort of habit and the safety of familiarity, he's willing to do things he normally wouldn't if a friend asks for his help.
