So you liked Invisible Monsters a lot more than Lolita? What would you rate the two, out of 5 stars each?
PostPosted: Sat Oct 25, 2008 1:03 pm
For Lolita, I'd give it a total of 3.5/5, for the sake of disturbingness. Not scary, but do a bit of research on it yourself and you'll understand why immediately.

For Invisible Monsters, I'd give it a total of 4.5/5. It loses that .5 because of it's total non-linearity, and lack of massive plot twist at the end that Chuck's good at. It wasn't the "HOLYS***OMGOMGOMG" that I was kind of hoping for. I loved everything else though.

Okay. So you would recommend both of them? Or just Invisible Monsters?

It depends on what you're into. I also found Invisible Monsters to be a much easier read, and I managed to run through it really quickly compared to Lolita. Thinking of what I know of your reading/writing habits/likes/dislikes (Not many, but I think I know some), I think you would enjoy Invisible Monsters more. Try them both, though.

I usually don't like romance novels, although I do enjoy a little bit of romance sprinkled through. (I like to ship characters, though, so canon and "true love" stuff usually annoys me. xD) Lolita seems to be a bit romantically creepy (from reading the synopsis online). eek

"Romantically Creepy" is like saying piranhas are naturally a little peckish. razz

Also: THREAD RESURRECTION! *casts spell*

It was on a channel I had on yesterday and I kinda watched it for about half of it, but then it was three so I went to bed.

Idk, the movie was really not that bad. It focused more on people finding out, and the main character being super paranoid and controlling and right before she runs away I went to sleep.

I feel bad for the person who played the girl though. After that she was typecast and had a pretty terrible life and is now a recluse.

So, the oldest one? I haven't seen the movie(s) or read the book. XD

They made multiple movies if memory serves.

I've never seen it, since I'm usually suspicious of book-to-movies.

But super creepy pretty much covers it. Especially considering...oh, I dunno, the ***** aspect, and the fact that Lolita herself likes it. eek
