Ahem, let's all get along, OK?
As for the greed, I tried to help someone yesterday who was having problems with Gaia and GayOL (not a good combination), and what did he do? He started begging me for gold over AIM!!! That's why I have the harsh view of Gaian community that I do.

No. I have nothing against gays. I do call stuff I hate "gay" though. It's just an old habit of mine. And yes, I do think I'm very funny. lol

Being as new as I am, I'm not yet experienced with all of Gaia, but I do find the discription to be a bit harsh. Granted, we do have those that make me question their I.Q., but we also have those you can carry on a decipherable, intelligent conversation with. So far I have found several friends who abhor "text talk" as much as I.
In conclusion, that discription was written by a person who has spent way to much time in the CB.

dimedork ...In conclusion, that discription was written by a person who has spent way to much time in the CB. Which can be hazardous to one's mental health. Has anyone here noticed that of late, GD has taken on many of CB's qualities? *shivers*

DarkElf27 Quote: They are obsessed with pixel items and gaining Gaian gold. Many have poor grammar and even worse spelling, tending to use internet slang/net speak (aside from the Grammar Nazis, who will attack anyone with incorrect grammar) [based on the fact that most of the users frequent the Chatterbox: a spamming forum]. They are prone to starting flame wars. They will excessively use the provided graphical emoticons. Typical Posts In Gaia Online, there are many different forums and sub-forums. Each of these may have a slightly different subculture - in that they may all use common slang / jokes that usually only the regular members of that particular forum would understand. They may also share similar annoyances - such as topics created: Asking for a boyfriend or girlfriend (normally referred to as BF/GF) Asking for a friend (Acceptable in the Friends Chat forum.) Asking a question which has been answered many times, and is included in a sticky at the top of the forum Asking for Neopets points Asking for charity (This is acceptable in the Charity forum) Asking for pornography (This may be more common then most users are aware, but these topics are often deleted quickly) Asking to "cyber" with someone (though such may be considered an offense, seeing actual solliciting for such is illegal on the site) The above is a description of Gaians from wikipedia. Agree, disagree, state your reasoning, and wonder how it came to be that Gaia was looked at in this way by outsiders. If any of you wanted to take a look at it, here's the website URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaia_Online_subculture

Anyways, do you think that we could be called by other gaians Elitist?
Definition of an Elitist by Wikipedia.org:
"Elitists
Most people see elitists as an uncultured, though usually almost completely literate, user that defines themselves as "cool". Most of the time, these users speak with smaller, centered, or colored texts for the sole purpose of being "different" or "intimidating". Elitists hang out in cliques, usually in their own threads among their own "kind". Most elitists have high post counts or early join dates."
If you see the definition on Wikipedia, you don't have to read the second paragraph.

Hmm. I'd rather think of myself as a well-meaning Reg, but... I think that one of my other guilds saves me from an Elitist impression. *Points at the lowermost banner in signature*

I admit I used to be a bit of a spelling Nazi, grammar not as much; I stopped when I realized it helped no one - however I think that this seems to focus on the negative and doesn't mention any of the positive elements Gaia.
