The smile on his maw widened as she picked up pace, a good signal that she had finally decided on what they were going to do. With that, he felt a little more easy and simply fell in behind her, following her lead as she headed for their destination.
The closer they got, however, the more he smelled water on the air, and he assumed that whatever they were doing had something to do with the water. That's why, when she stopped beside the bush as if it were important, he was a bit surprised. He blinked at it, then sat down on his rump with a slightly tilted head. "Those are pretty flowers," he commented slowly, brows furrowed just the faintest touch, though his eyes swept from the bush up to hers as he waited for the great revelation.

She sat down by the flowers, looking over at Fafnir- he looked confused but he didn't look completely disinterested. This was why she had a backup plan and had brought them to the waterhole too, kind of! This plant happened to be easiest to find by this particular waterhole, some plants preferred didn't amounts of sun and shade and water- or so she had reasoned in her head when she learned about it all.
"This is one of the plants I had to learn about," she said brightly, trying to make it sound interesting, "I don't know as much as my sister or the shaman, they're the ones who really need to know, but I'm supposed to know some. The plant used for when rogues join is most important but they know other ones that help when your sick or something."
Ally leaned down and sniffed at the plant, smiling.
"This is one of those ones!"

"I don't know anything about plants," he said with a tilt of his head, glancing over at the bush. He knew that they used a certain type of plant for rogues when they joined - his mother and father had told them all about their joining. What was it his mother had called his dad concerning the whole thing? Pompous? That sounded right. He knew that there were a lot of different types of plants here too, though, but beyond that he knew very little.
"I haven't heard about any of the others, just the one that they use when rogues join. What does this one do?" He leaned in to sniff it like she did, but he only twitched his nose a bit - it smelled rather like a normal flower. He wondered how lions ever learned what plants did in the first place, who was the first person to figure it out? Randomly eating plants didn't seem very appealing.

So, she was right. It was at least a bit comforting to know that he didn't know anything about the plants already, maybe that meant it was at least a little bit interesting! Many uses of the local plants were kept secret unless they were needed, she had no idea of any of those uses though- or of the existence of such mixtures. She had no reason to worry about informing Fafnir about some of the little things she had learned about.
"This is one of the ones that make you feel better when you're sick," she said, repeating a rather vague description she had been given of it. Which sickness wasn't clear, she wasn't aware of many types of sickness having been rather healthy throughout her own life. "It smells nice, but I don't know how tasty plants could be. It's what prey beasts eat, not lions."
Curious and daring, with the confidence that something that makes you healthier should not cause you any harm, she took another light sniff and ripped a piece of the plant off to test for herself.

"Well, if prey beasts eat it, it can't be all that terrible tasting, can it?" He didn't know if things tasted different to prey beasts than they did to lions, but his reasoning sounded good enough to his own ears. "Besides, if it's supposed to make you feel better, it shouldn't be something really bad? I'd think that would only make you feel worse." Like always, when Fafnir didn't know the answer to something, he just babbled on in a tangent until what he was saying sounded concrete enough to any ears.
Unlike him, however, Ally was brave enough to lean forward and try a little piece of the plant herself. He silently found himself wondering what happened if you took medicine when you weren't sick, but then pushed the thought away. "Well, what does it taste like, then?"

As a carnivore, it was not only unappetizing to try to eat a plant, her mouth was also poorly designed for it. It took a couple of swallows to get it down, and she couldn't help but lick her teeth a little bit. Plants were certainly very different from meat, that much she could say for certain now. But the taste wasn't entirely disgusting, just the actual eating was unusual.
"It tastes different," she commented thoughtfully, "Not that bad, thooough-"
Suddenly she wasn't feeling so steady, her head seeming to spin around without her actually moving at all. Luckily, she was already sitting- but she visibly tensed as she blinked through the dizziness. This wasn't very nice feeling, if this was supposed to be better then you must have to be really sick to need to eat this. The dangers of taking it when you weren't sick had not been explained well enough to her, the only alternative explanation she could imagine was maybe she got it wrong. Squinting a bit, she tried to look again but it was hard to tell.
"That's not right," she mumbled, meaning whatever she was feeling. She was starting to feel very heavy, like she had stayed awake too long.

"It must have been weird, eating it," he said with a tilted head, noticing the way she licked her teeth. He couldn't imagine what it felt like to try and chew up a leaf. He leaned forward to sniff at the bush, poking his nose at it. Out of the corner of his eye, however, he noticed the visible changes in her and whipped his head around just in time to hear her mumbling.
"You okay, Ally?" he asked with visible concern on his features. He pushed himself back up onto all fours, his ears flattening as he leaned forward to nudge her shoulder lightly with his nose. "Ally you don't look so good," he said softly, panic beginning to course through him. What if she had eaten the wrong plant? What if this one was poison?

"I'm fine," she responded, though as she said it she became very tense as she tried to steady herself, to get herself to fight whatever odd feeling this was causing. But it wasn't that simple or that effective. She swooped around to look at the plant again, but only made herself more dizzy and completely missed the plant. At that point, all she had left to do to steady herself was flop onto the ground before she did anything else to make it worse.
She seemed to wobble a moment before setting her head down and closed her eyes. She wasn't asleep yet, but it seemed to help- and she was drifting off quickly.

"No you aren't," he said quickly, panic making his voice escalate, a squeak in the words. He took a step forward towards her just in time to see her wobble and flop onto her belly. His eyes widened as she did so, his legs momentarily frozen into place, brain unable to process what was going on.
"Ally," he whined gently, finally pushing himself back into motion and dropping down next to her. He nudged her cheek gently with his nose, a frown on his mug. What was it that she had eaten? He wasn't sure what was going on or what he was supposed to do.

"Just.. just give me a minute," she mumbled. Ally was very calm, evidently not as panicked as Fafnir was. Whether this was because she couldn't panic or she didn't realize what was going on wasn't clear, but it was undeniable that she didn't want to worry Fafnir. It was useless, for she soon fell to sleep. And no amount of nudging or yelling would wake her up.

"Ally," he mumbled again, his frown permanently fixed to his maw. When she didn't answer this time, however, it became abundantly clear to him that she wasn't going to wake back up. That left him with a dilemma. He could either leave her here, completely alone with no one to watch her, and run back to get help or he could stay here and wait for her to wake up. As he thought about it, the indecision caused his brows to furrow, and he felt like whining. What would his mother expect him to do? What would Loki say? Oh, he wasn't good at making his own decisions.
Finally, he decided that he couldn't leave her, not all alone like this. He frowned, laying down at her side with his head rested across her back. If she didn't wake up soon, he would go get help, but he was pretty sure that she was just sleeping. He'd give it a little while, just a little while, because after all, he didn't want her to get in trouble again.
