What, no 10mm?

Personally, I think the caliber wars need to be devided into revolver and auto catagories, since the .357 Mag and .45 Auto can't be compared by themselves without comparing guns they'd be in.

Ideally, though, I'd choose two--a .357 revolver and a high-capacity 9mm.

!!!???

It's one of the most common multi-caliber firearms! The .357MAG revolver can safely shoot .38SPCL (+P?) rounds a a cheaper practice or self defense round.

Hell in a .357mag You could use +P+, if you could find it that is..

Yeah, I thought about listing the 10mm, but I didn't think it was worthy of mentioning simply because there aren't any guns in 10mm that you could carry, at least not to my knowledge.

Isn't the 10mm Delta Elite the size of a 1911? Or is it the, "Omfg 10mm over penetration!" deal?

Agreed, there is no such thing as overkill.
Only underpowered and just right.

Sure, you CAN carry a 1911 concealed, but it isn't very comfortable.

Overkill is great, but not when there are friendlies surrounding your target. I would much rather have to do two double taps than take out the target, AND the friendly behind him

There are many people who can, AND DO, comfortably carry full-size 1911s in many modes of carry from OWB, IWB, small of back, shoulder holster, bellyband, any BODY carry. WHat can comfortably be carried rests ENTIRELY with the person doing the carrying.

Need studies on 10mm penetration.

Both compacts in 10mm, pick your poison.

1911's can be easily converted, too.

.45ACP

But, I would tend to use a shotgun in matters domestic. The risk of harm to innocent neighbors outweighs the absolute assurance of any larger caliber.

The last thing I want is the blood of someone who didn't deserve to be shot on my hands.
