"I will Mother. I will." And for one of the first times in Aapep's life, he was speechless. The sensation of finally belonging. Of finally being accepted into the place he loved...it was too much to describe! His heart was filled with joy and as he watched the leader, Kitambi, turn and gesturing for them to follow he knew this was the beginning of something wonderful.
He let his eyes drift to his mother and in them was joy and love and he touched his nose to hers. He could not find the words to thank her, for what she had done was the greatest thing a mother could ever do. Push her fears away for the good of her son.
He knew, for as long as he lived, he'd care for her and work every day to return her kindness.
And with that, he stepped towards his future.
