Name: Sakata Meaning: Strike, finish off, devour Nickname: N/A Parents: _____+ Mother: Deceased _____+ Father: Deceased Siblings: _____+ Deceased Mate: _____+ Jinichongo Offspring: _____+ Shinda Pride: Mizimu'Tungika Position in pride: Warleader Personality: Having served as the Warleader for many seasons, and fought off many attempts to take his place, Sakata is known for his size, ferocity, and skill in battle. He's a ruthless warrior, sending his opponents to the spirit realm without a second thought... granted, most members of the pride think that Sakata doesn't really have the mental capacity to have a second thought. While he is indisputably adept in battle, he's definitely not renowned for his intelligence. Some of the Veterans with less charitable feelings about their 'glorious leader' feel that the position should go to someone with a little more mental muscle, but nobody within the pride is eager to go up against the vicious brute.

Name: Mavunde Meaning: Scattered clouds, fog, overcast sky (also weakness, putrid thing) Nickname: Mavu (hornet) Parents: _____+ Mother: Deceased _____+ Father: Deceased Siblings: _____+ None Mate: _____+ None Offspring: _____+ None Pride: Ela'Wadiyi (Bird Clan) Position in pride: Hunter Personality: Proud and more than a little vain, Mavunde is a pretty boy... and he knows it. While he's not particularly boastful, he can't help but notice that there aren't many other lions who are quite as beautifully patterned as he is. Endlessly curious and courageous, he wanders solo across the savannah, exploring places that he finds interesting - and attractive. Named for his appearance, Mavu is a little over-sensitive about the alternate meanings for his name. He may be a little on the small side for a lion, but he's far from weak. And he definitely does not smell! As a result, he tends to prefer his nickname.

Name: Njozi (assumed), Chwelewa (given) Meaning: Ghost, phantom; be overtaken by darkness Nickname: N/A Parents: _____+ Mother: Hofu (deceased) _____+ Father: Afya (deceased) Siblings: _____+ Jinichongo, Hodari'Nafsi, Rohozuri (deceased), Mafuriko (deceased) Mate: _____+ Makonde Offspring: _____+ None Pride: Ela'Wadiyi (Wolf Clan) Position in pride: Hunter Personality: Born as a royal sacrifice into the Mizimu'Tungika, a pride where sacrifices are normal and those chosen for that role are held in particularly high esteem, Njozi is unusually conflicted. He was raised to understand that unless he was chosen as Scion he would be ritually sacrificed by his own brother when his sister, the Heir, ascended to the throne. If he was chosen to be Scion, he knew that he would be expected to sacrifice his siblings. This was normal, and he and all of his siblings were honoured to have been born into such a privileged position.
He felt his connection to the spirits so keenly that he knew he would be chosen as Scion - it was fate, he was certain of it. He watched over his younger sister, Jinichongo, for she had already shown her promise and he was certain that she would be the next Heir. Proud of his fate, well-learned and eager, the cub grew into an adolescent. And his younger brother was chosen to be the Scion. Not him. He knew, then, that his fate was to join the spirits and serve his pride from the realm beyond. But when that fateful day came... he wasn't able to do it.
Terrified of the fate that his birth had chosen for him, and ashamed of his fear, he begged with his siblings to be allowed to live. And after ripping one of the claws from his front left foot (to serve as a token for the spirits) they allowed him to escape. Since that day he has wandered, lost and conflicted, deeply ashamed of the cowardice he had shown. Believing that he has doomed himself to an afterlife as one of the lost spirits, he took the name of 'Njozi' to forever remind himself of his failings.
During his wanderings he found Makonde, a green-marking lioness who showed more courage than he ever did. Interested in something for the first time since he left the Mizimu'Tungika, he roamed with her and her family until they returned to the lands of the Ela'Wadiyi. He joined the pride, to be at her side.

Name: Hewa'Takata Meaning: Clear skies Nickname: Hewa (Sky) Parents: _____+ Mother: Deceased (Kizuka) _____+ Father: Deceased (Ushaufu) Siblings: _____+ Many Mate: _____+ N/A Offspring: _____+ N/A Pride: Umande'Mfuni Position in pride: Youth Personality: Hewa is a brash youth, full of energy thanks to the life that is returning to the lands. His mother was (before her death) quite simply, the centre of his universe. So strong, so decisive, so talented - she is everything that Hewa wishes to be, and she is also the cause for his secret shame. Despite outward appearances, Hewa suffers from a minor inferiority complex. He's too pretty, his voice is too light and delicate. Even his NAME is pretty. These simple truths plague the youth, just as he is plagued by strange visions of the past, present, and future. His seer abilities, unknown to himself at first, are a source of confusion for Hewa; the truth is revealed in his dreams, but these seer-given visions provide a wealth of lie-ridden predictions as well. As a result, Hewa is quick to disregard his seer abilities; he may never grow to trust them if he does not learn to pick the truth from the lies within his visions.
The recent death of his parents has cast a dark cloud over this youth's usually bright mood. He lives with the shame of knowing that he'd forseen both of their deaths... but had disregarded those visions as lies. If only he had warned them...

+ Ghosts in the Mist After moving to their new valley, Hewa encounters a stranger.
Current Roleplays Orange = abandoned
+---
Contest entry, for my reference. Gender is different since I was trying for a female cub and ended up taking a custom (who I made a male) instead. Cub's name: Hewa'takata ((Clear skies // The sky has become clear)) Personality: Hewa is a brash little cub, full of energy thanks to the life that is returning to the lands, and equally full of the desire to prove herself to her parents. Her mother is, quite simply, the centre of her universe. So strong, so decisive, so talented - she is everything that Hewa wishes to be, and she is also the cause for the little cub's secret shame. Despite outward appearances, Hewa suffers from a minor inferiority complex. She's too pretty, too bright to hunt as well as the others at night, her voice is too light and delicate. Even her NAME is pretty. These simple truths plague the young cub, just as she is plagued by strange visions of the past, present, and future. Her seer abilities, unknown to herself at first, are a source of confusion for Hewa; the truth is revealed in her dreams, but these seer-given visions provide a wealth of lie-ridden predictions as well. As a result, Hewa is quick to disregard her seer abilities; she may never grow to trust them if she does not learn to pick the truth from the lies within her visions. Prompt Answer: 'Here we go again,' she sighs to herself as she watches her siblings stalk through the night, their forms swiftly dissolving into the gathering darkness. Another late evening, another hunting lesson with mom, and another chance for her bright pelt to give her position away before she can catch as much as a pillbug. Hewa'takata had done her best to dull the brilliant gleam of her fur by rolling in the dust, but no matter what she tries she just can't blend into the shadows as well as the others. It doesn't make any sense! Her mom has big white patches, but she can still disappear so effectively that the cubs won't find her if she doesn't want to be found. 'Still, silent, solid...' the mantra rhymes through Hewa's head as she hunkers down behind a tussock, peering between the sun-burnt blades and waiting for the prey to come to her. A small rodent has made its home nearby, she found the burrow during the day today and is determined to bring home something to prove her worth! 'Still, silent, solid...' she slows her breathing, trying to become one with the earth, wishing for the darkness to envelop her bright-furred form. Inevitably, with the calm comes the daydreams - she sinks into an almost meditative state, her mind dancing in sunlit fields while her gaze remains fixed on the rodent's burrow. ---They're all dancing, in her dreams. Her siblings and her parents and even a few others who she recognizes only faintly. Relatives she's heard of, or met for a short time. They're all dancing, because the fields are lush and green and the time of plenty has finally come to their lands. The Storm God smiled upon them, and has rewarded the pride's efforts with the blessing of the rains. They're all dancing, but some of them are dancing... in the air? Hewa's dream-self blinks, startled, as the vision shimmers before her to reveal another side to many of the dancing figure. Wings. Wings? Only gods have wings! But there's Mo'on, and Dili. And two others who she doesn't recognize, but has heard of. And.. Ushaufu?! Her FATHER?! Again her dream-self blinks, faltering in her dance as she gazes up at the winged beings. Her father, a god? That's not possible, they would have said something, they--- The rodent emerges, and Hewa snaps out of her reverie just in time to lunge and snap its neck between her teeth. 'What a stupid dream,' she chuckles to herself as she trots back towards the den, her catch clutched proudly within her jaws.

Name: Kidondo Meaning: Kindling, firewood Nickname: Kid (siblings), Kimada/Kidondo-Safi (Kenna) Parents: _____+ Mother: Kenna _____+ Father: Jiryan Siblings: _____+ Serafina _____+ Amalahle _____+ Kenina _____+ Quidel _____+ Rowtag _____+ Keahi _____+ Majivu'waa _____+ Kichomo'Roho Mate: _____+ N/A Offspring: _____+ N/A Pride: Motoujamii-Simo (formerly Safi) Position in pride: Youth Personality: Kidondo takes after her mother in any way she can. Proud, ruthless, manipulative, superior... she believes whole-heartedly in the ideals of the firekin, and especially Kenna. Every action that this keen-eyed youth takes is calculated and deliberately planned.
Kid has a bad habit of acting like she knows everything, and a particularly infuriating habit of acting like she knows what's going to happen before it happens. Or at least, she's very happy to say that she saw it coming after it has already came and went. While she is a seer, she doesn't know it. Her abilities are almost entirely subconscious, and result in her having unusually good luck since she just happens to move out of the way of a sneak attack by a sibling, and so on.
She is still young so these traits may change, but she seems to have inherited some of her mother's sadistic streak, along with a few of her OCD tendencies. She practices every day, fighting with shadows and wrestling with her siblings, so that she will one day be as fierce a warrior as the former queen.
