I say "who cares?" No matter what, kids will do this crap. Each generation does this sort of crap and don't deny it w/ the whole "Good old days;" there are no "the good old days" its just the past. Its just worse because compared to past generations, the parents now a days are complete pussies and don't punish their kids to make sure that they won't do it again, mostly they just medicate them (like my parents did me).

But for the media, I say its not to blame because people use it as a scapegoat. Dumb people get their morals and values from the media and then go out killing people. Anyone who blames the media for violence really need to know that violence has been around since the caveman times. and if u believe that if there is no "violent media" we will live in a better place, you need to get ur head out of ur a**

media: one of the biggest influences in a child's life. i have some statistics from sociology class about this, i'll have to see if i can't dig it out and post it later. but again, tying it in with the aforementioned "hip hop problem," it's becoming this juggernaut that is molding the minds of the younger generations. unfortunately it's having a negative impact because a majority of that lifestyle deals with illegal activities, substance abuse and disregard toward women.

Don't get me started on the media...

Thanks lespaw, that's what I meant when I said that I 'blame' hip-hop. Of course, at the time I was half-joking, but now that you elaborated on it I can only say that this is today's 'driving forces' of violence.

Kids are not ment to be perfect. Everyone makes mistakes, and kids make them the most. hell, they're kids. They're supposed to make mistakes. BIG DEAL!! Their kids. That's their way of learning sometimes. If they want to go out, be ******** stupid, and do something that will end up hurting them in the end, I say let them. If they make a stupid choice, such as join a gang, then they get a lesson from that. Like the saying goes, "It's all fun and games till someone gets hurt."
