North Korea is trying to compensate for the fact that they're a third-world country run by a system of government that has proven to be a failure in the long run. Getting nuclear weapons won't solve their problems, it'll create new ones that they're neither ready to nor capable of dealing with.

And they won't launch a nuke at anyone. Unlike the Muslim "blow-yourself-up-in-the-name-of-Allah-and-take-Israel-with-you" nut jobs who run Iran, the N. Korean government isn't stupid enough to launch a nuke at someone. They know what'll happen if they do, and that alone is a good enough deterrent.

The only thing N. Korea has that would concern me is the artillery aimed at Seoul, and even that can be dealt with with the proper application of high-explosives and stealth aircraft.

They don't need a weapon that can reach america to a major impact in the region. The capital of south korea, Seoul is about 30 miles away from the border. If they managed to establish fire bases in the south they would be within medium range of a LRBM or a IRBM strike to japan one of our biggest allies and over seas bases too.

Well we obviously have alot less to worry about. For one were too damn far away, but.... see Good korea is right next to them along with our bases and troops they arent in too much of a hurry to be turned to radioactive dust.

You have to remember, though, we "lost" the Korean War. The "War" is still going, there's just the same cease-fire agreement in action from the 1960s. We would have lost, partly because we'd never find them. They have caves and s**t all over their country which could withstand ANY nuclear strike. We would only be able to take out a few of them b******s before they went underground. Or is that Vietnam? I can't distinguish...

That was Vietnam. They had the tunnels and such. In Korea modern borders are where they are because China stepped in at the last second to save North Korea and pushed us back to where the DMZ is now.

Darn confusing wars. But you see my point, yes? They are a hardy people and have the same capabilites as Vietnam.

Well, if we took out all the civilians and set the whole North Korea on fire for 7 days straight all the oxygen in their underground bunkers would deplete and they'd suffocate, killing everyone and everything, including plant life.

Can you imagine the amount of Napalm that would take?

"Where the DMZ is now". Funny phrase. Where the DMZ is now is where the DMZ WAS before the war. We gained NOTHING, and lost so many thousands of lives.

And really, what did the commies ever do? Besides being different, why are they BAD? I don't like their system of government, but that's hardly a reason for genocide.

And who exactly did we save that wasn't put in danger by us in the first place?

I say we do what Kennedy was about to do in the Cuban missile crisis. Prepare a preemptive or retaliatory strike on N Korea's missile sites. If they take any military action against the US or it's allies, we launch a full scale bombing raid against N Korea.

It appears now that the N. Koreans will attempt to launch multiple rockets of various ranges (including ones that could reach Hawaii or Alaska) on or around the 4th of July. Our military is on full alert.

Stupidity must run very deep in their government.

Because we have ever so many critical strategic facilities in the Great White North.

Actually the DMZ change slightly, before the war the bondary was the 38th parallel. After the war the south lost land to the west and gained to the east so the bondary got kind of tilted.

Gained and lost land is more or less exactly equal though, so really there was no change at all.

well the main reason the north Korean crisis is such a big deal is because America cannot wage another war, north Korea is a militaristic state like imperial japan back then so even though we out number them and out gunned them we will still have alot of casualties and i don't think the American public can handle more dead soldiers from this last war and them having nukes isn't very hot news for us, it is true we can just shoot down the missiles the problem is that the American missile defense is not entirely accurate and one might just go through and blow up one of our cities which is going to be hell, the reason why we don't blow the hell outa those silos is because we are not a militaristic state, Obama doesn't want America look like a bully who attacks first so really if we attack first it makes us look weak

It'd have to be a good desk.
And made from lead too.

I saw some video of some parade over in North Korea.
They had UAZs and Zil 157s (I think Zils) vehicles in their parade.

... do they have anything that's not Russian made?
alot of communist country has Russian made weapons because Russia worked with them before and supplied them in the Russian arsenal, china heavily design their air force and navy off of Russian tech but unlike china Korea is outdated
