Sorry, I don't get what you're saying. Maybe I misread your post (sorry), but for what I get, I don't think the word "succeed" is only for because the predecessor was failed. The four khalifah, as well as we are, are the successor that continue the Islam so it won't disappear.
I don't really know about Shia and Sunni. so, any difference aside the political view? in spiritual or faith view, maybe?

Sorry, the earlier part was pointing about self thinking. But then I put a huge space to tell about what I feel between Sunni and Shi'a at the latter part.
I believe it's mainly about political view.
But again, you explain it well enough in a short sentence, well done. The four Calliph are the successor that continue Islam so it won't disappear but not the successor of Islam. But then we, as a Muslim are also subjected to continue Islam. But we are never a successor of Islam.
Now here's a question, if the Calliph, Ali makes Islam a success, doesn't it mean Muhammad failed to make Islam a success? As if it is Ali who teaches Islam.
Edit: Okay, here is an example.
Let say I am told by a teacher to finish a homework, specially given to me. No one else got it, but me alone. So I ask my friend to do the homework for me. And he done almost all of the questions.
So did I succeed to finish the homework? Or my friend?

Wait the majority of us are sunni or shia? Someone make a poll for that.. And stop confusing me... I don't care if you are sunni or shia. I went to a shia muslim school as a child and my mom teaches at a sunni school now. I go to a public school. I respect all types of muslims as long as they believe Allah is their God, Islam is their religion, Quran is their book and Prophet Mohammad (SAW) is their prophet. Even if they don't I still respect them...

Trapped in the R H Y T H M I C sound, As the rain falls and then pounds. And circles around this fire do we prance, Trapped in a never ending rain dance. 90% of muslims are Sunni. Its a survey related fact. But who takes surveys? XD.
I'm a Proud Sunni.
What both of you forget is that before the schism, there was no Sunni or Shia, but there was something that was a mix of the two, which means Shia did not come before sunni, and sunni did not come before shia. Neither has more accurate information, because there both come from the same time. And history tends to get jumbled and changed through the years, so who knows what could be right or wrong? All we should know is what we believe. If you're a sunni, good for you, If you're a shia, good for you.
Anyway, Isn't laying a rock on the carpet for Shias the same as folding the edge of your carpet? So Shaitan doesn't get on it? Click for quest thread.

Yeah biggrin
Ur right Mujahaba wink
And it's not a question of time, it's a question of right and wrong.
Shia hit themselves, don't belive in hadiths, change the quran... which is pretty bad.
And look at alawite muslims (kurdians) they don't go to mosque cause Muhammad's Leutenant died in a mosque lol
I hate when people change the religion just because of those things.

Silver Nephil Stupid question...can someone be neither? I'm just wondering if that's possible. Not a stupid question. I consider myself just a Muslim. I follow the Qu'ran & hadith as well as I can. I do not want to fight any other Muslims. I do think you can just be Muslim (but I do agree more with Sunnis than Shiites).

@The_Pathan So...why laugh about them being wary of a place where someone they respect died? Why hate them for adding that into their beliefs? I mean, you don't have to believe it or think having a practice in rememberance of the man is important, but the Kurds do.
