The steps came to an end after about ten more minutes of descending. Henry's foot landed on solid rock, granite from the looks of it. It was still chilly, but there wasn't as much snow or ice down here as there was up above.
At the bases of the massive stalagmites were bundles of massive, light-blue, bioluminescent fungi, the obvious source of lighting down in the chasm. Their views were obstructed by a thick fog, but they could see clearly enough to move safely.
Sounds of miscellaneous life were all around, from scuttling to growling to prowling, sounds were everywhere, they weren't alone.
"Which way should we go? Probably straight to the castle..." Ro suggested, glancing around, wary of any movement.

Everyone got their ten minutes of rest. Arthur was still tired, but he wasn't quite as exhausted anymore.
