BIO: Born to a family of warriors in the Pridelands, under Simi’s rule, Vu was a fearless cub with a passion for battle. Though generally good at heart, his boisterous behavior earned him a bad reputation early in life. As a cub he spent most of his time training with his brothers and sisters, goofing off in his free-time, often at the expense of others, having few friends outside his family. Perhaps some of this was due to his mother, who sneered at the rogue bloods mixing with their pride. Vu never formed a high opinion of anyone besides his parents, great-grandfather Mufasa and the god Mrost.
Later Vu traveled to the rogue lands with his best friend Mollie to search for her mother. A few days into their journey they were attacked by a black Firekin with a red spiral on her forepaws. Unable to fight her off, Vu created a diversion so Mollie could escape. The tactic worked, but nearly cost him his life. Pinned by the Firekin, he shielded his eyes as her claws raked through his sides and ravaged his muzzle, shredding his lips and leaving a deep gash across his nose. He still bares the scars. After the fight Mollie emerged from hiding and helped him back to the Pridelands. Upon reaching adolescence Vu abandoned the Pridelands for good to travel with a rogue cheetah called Zito and was later joined by his childhood friend, Mollie.
Joining Zito's band of followers finally gave Vu the sense of belonging he'd craved all his life. He felt like a misfit among misfits. Though he continued to practice his warrior skills he settled down considerably, joking often and making trouble with rogues without fear of getting into trouble. He also had a fling with Irit, the sister of his childhood enemy Chani. After working out his rebellious period in the rogue lands Vu and Mollie split off from Zito in search of a new pride and a greater purpose in life.
Now living in Ukuucha'Wafalme, Vu is quite content with life. He's raised a large family with his beybanu Mollie and his banu Fila - over fourteen cubs so far, including eight grandchildren through his daughter Zarha. Despite being a grandfather he's far from old yet! When he's not with his family he loves to go out and patrol the boarders, chatting with rogues and driving away anyone who would dare disturb his way of life. He loves to fight and passes this skill onto all his children, females included, although their lessons focus more on self-defense and hunting. In addition to passing on his skills as a warrior he's also passed on the Prideland's belief in ancestor worship. Although he spent most of his life as a spitfire, rebellious lion, he's finally earned some wisdom. He likes listening to stories and telling them as well. BIO: All Xenia knows about her mother she learned from her nana. She was a pink leopardess with a peculiar manner of speaking, and she loved all her children very much. Of her father Xenia knows nothing except that he was a lion. Her mute brother, Adonis, is her best friend. She speaks for him by reading the ‘language’ of his eyes. She's nieve and trusting but kind and easy to get along with.
Though she's older now Xenia is no less playful. She's great with cubs and is training to become a nana with Nashia as her helper. Nashia has taught Xenia a lot about the world, some things she never even wanted to know, like what happens to hares when they're too old or sick to run and the evils of the world outside the Coalition. She isn't sure what to make of her friend's stories. Surely the rogue lands couldn't really be so bad. Even though she's a carnivor she hates killing things, prefering to let the huntresses do the work for her, though some are pressuring her into learning. She's not very good at it. BIO: Hero ran away from home as a juvenile after learning that his parents were not who he thought they were and fell into the care of an elderly lion called *Ujiti ("Tall and Slender Tree"). Before he ran away Hero lived near the Pridelands. Growing up with the spire of Pride Rock always on the horizon, even making friends with some of the pride's youth, he's picked up the pride's beliefs in the power of the supernatural, as well as the belief that the kings of the past look down on the world from the stars. During his travels later on in life he heard different stories about the stars, including one crazy tale about burning balls of gas, but he still holds the Pridelander's beliefs closest to his heart.
Ujiti taught him everything he needed to know to survive: how to hunt, how to fight, and how to lust after females. Although Hero never found his true parents, he learned to love this male like a father and felt deeply saddened when he passed away. Realizing how his adoptive parents must have felt when he ran away, guilty and alone, Hero reluctantly made his way home, but by the time he located his family he had reached adulthood, his father had passed away, and his two adoptive brothers had gone on to have families of their own.
He traveled with his adoptive mother for a few days, happy to be able to make his peace with her, until she caught the attention of another wandering male. As she spent more and more time with this new male, Hero realized that the family he lost when he ran away would never be his again since his adoptive mother found it so easy to ignore him. She hails from the northern desert where she spent most of her life fleeing from her oppressive father with her single mother and two siblings, until she and her siblings were strong enough to help their mother destroy him. Although fierce in battle (and a little bit neurotic) she is a loving female who isn’t afraid to show her softer side. She lives for challenge.
After her father’s death she remained in the desert and trained hard with the hope of joining the ranks of the Firekin. When she began to doubt her mission she left the desert and wandered into demon country. Fortunately a scout by the name of Chache, a serval, found her and escorted her to Mwako’bi’giza where she Moto'nyota, the leader of the pride.
Koka has chosen to be a Shujaa because she doesn’t want the time she spent training in the desert to go to waste. She’s larger than the average rogue female with a muscular build that makes it easy to mistake her for a male from a distance, making her excellent at close combat and grappling her foes. BIO: Lorelei fell into denial about her sexuality early on in life. She had been betrothed to a male called Wotan for most of her life and accepted that fact without any regrets. As a cub she spent an unusual amount of time around her grandmother, Murigheal, a healer who called herself Sao in private, and inherited many of her traits. She also learned how to conceal them.
When the time came for her to wed Lorelei assumed she would be happy with *Wotan. For the most part this was true. Wotan was not an overbearing husband, in fact he mostly ignored her, so Lorelei should have been free to practice her unorthodox beliefs in private, but as time went on her feelings for females became more and more obvious to her and she felt the need to conceal her true self from everyone, even her own family, to avoid suspicion that might draw attention to her sexuality. Homosexuality was considered a crime against the gods and punishable by death or banishment.
Her self-imposed illusions fell apart when she met a female on the boarder named *Kijani. By this time Lorelei’s children were nearly grown, giving her more freedom to practice her healing and explore the boarders unsupervised. She hid her affair well, but her guilt haunted her. When Sao mentioned that she planned to leave the lands to avoid re-marrying Lorelei saw an opportunity to finally be with her true love. She gave up everything for Kijani; her home, her children, her husband, her pride. But it was all for naught. When Lorelei and Sao found Kijani they discovered that she was the proud mother of six cubs and happily wed to a male lion, *Abu, who learned about his wife’s affair through the two lionesses. Kijani angrily chased Lorelei away, screaming, “You whore! You b***h! Don’t you get it?! It was just for fun!”
Lorelei stopped eating after that. Eventually Sao convinced her to move on, but Lorelei remained bitter about her lover’s scorn. She blamed Abu for stealing Kijani away from her. Now Lorelei and Sao are traveling together, enjoying their freedom to love whom they love, or to not feign a second love any more. BIO: Kweu once ruled a pride alongside his twin brother, Ardhi’Rasi (“Earth Chief”). Instructed by their mother, Uziwa'kwini, and aided by their aunts, Kweu and Ardhi attacked and killed the ruling king and took the pride as their own. The sole heir to the throne was too young to face death, so the brothers allowed him to mature while keeping him locked away from the rest of the pride, killing him in secret once he reached adolescence. However, a few months after the youth's execution, Ardhi staged a coup and chased his brother out of the pride after deciding that Kweu was taking too much power for himself. Furious, Kweu began plotting his revenge. It was clear that he needed a small army of his own. He stumbled upon Rhean and her crew one sweltering afternoon while they were resting, smelling no other males near by, and approached them after noticing their obvious physical strength. With the heat being so uncomfortable, the trio listened to his story less-than-enthusiastically, but when he finished they posed a question: Why try to take over the pride that threw him out, for it was obviously full of trecharous weaklings, when there was a much nobeler pride to the west? They then told Kweu of their plot, a few of them biting their tongues to suppress their amusement at the natural colored lion’s gullibility.
Intrigued by the trio’s offer, Kweu agreed to go with them to the stronger pride. Soon after joining them Kweu arrogantly proclaimed himself the group's new leader. Having expected this, the trio laughed at him and announced that he was their prisoner. When he refuted them, calling them foolish and rude to think that females could rule over males, they attacked in unison. Brought up under the belief that no male is ever to attack a female under any circumstances, for every female is as precious as a lion’s own mother, he could do nothing but cower as the three tore at him, shocked and horrified by their vicious behavior. After being repeatedly threatened and struck for his disobedience (attempting to escape, trying to convince them that their actions were immoral, talking back to them, and other non-violent offenses), Kweu reluctantly accepted his position as the three females’ slave. Apart from their plans, he has very little knowledge of the pride he is being led to and for the first time in his life, Kweu is filled with fear.COLORIST: Meep OBTAINED: RP Contest

BIO: During her name quest Laini met a charming male named *Hori. Flattered by his compliments, Laini was convinced by his promise to return home with her once her name quest was complete and bring new life to her small family. At first she insisted they wait until they returned home to consummate their relationship, but Hori’s persistent flirtations wore her down. Laini couldn’t help but notice a change in her lover after their first night together, although she kept her comments to herself, believing that he would take unkindly to her questioning.
Sure enough Hori vanished within a week of their first mating. Heart-broken, yet in no state to return home, Laini attempted to continue her name quest, until the day she noticed her belly starting to swell. She shamefully made her way home, too afraid to give birth in the dangerous rogue lands.
Laini was a cunning girl and knew that she could not face her parents under these circumstances. She fabricated a lie: Hori was a bold and courageous lion, the kind-hearted rogue. He fell madly in love with her and vowed that they would return home together. During a moment of… weakness… Hori fathered Laini’s child. This turned out to be quite fortunate, for only a few days after the incident a malicious rogue attacked. Hori gave his life to defend her and the unborn cub. Laini claimed that her new name was in Hori’s honor, for while he succeeded in saving Laini’s life he failed in his promise to return with her.
She's disguised her failure ever since.
Overtime her name took on a new, cruelly ironic meaning known only to her. Jaha-mnamo-Ukosa: the convincing liar.
After Ukosa returned to the lands of her ancestors she had a chance meeting with a lion named Unuspuniceus. Unus had recently lost his mate and cubs to a vicious rogue. Feeling sorry for him, Ukosa tried to show her sympathy. She never expected him to fall in love with her.
Although she distrusted his motives at first Unus's love turned out to be genuine. Ukosa later met his sister Bekile and the two became instant friends. When Bekile got pregnant by a rogue, Ukosa helped bring her cubs into the world. She also gave Bekile a new name: Kabusha, meaning re-birthed. At the naming ceremony for Kabu's cubs Ukosa revealed that she was pregnant with Unus's cubs. The new family was overjoyed with the expectation of more little paws - but their happiness was not to last.
First Ukosa's brother Adhabu-shinda was found dead. Stricken with grief and overwhelmed by fear, Ukosa holed up with Unus in their den after her brother's funeral and did not emerge for many days. And there she might have remained if she were not carrying Unus's cubs. When she sensed her time was drawing near she had no choice but to leave. She promised to return safely as soon as the cubs' eyes were opened. That was the last time anyone saw her alive.
For whatever reason, Ukosa went to her birthing den alone. Why she chose to give birth in solitude, rather than have another female as her mid-wife, as she had done for Kabu, remains a mystery.
Her cold body was discovered a few days later, huddled in the back of the birthing den around her cubs. The only witness to the violence was Ukosa, now dead. The cubs, two females and a male (the runt of the litter), still deaf and blind, seemed in good shape, aside from being a little hungry and dehydrated. Three females were sent to care for them: Kabusha, Piliroho kwa Kwini, the King's Courtesan; and Ini Haki. Kabusha would become the cub's adoptive mother and her mate, Illa, their adoptive father. As for the truth about Hori, Ukosa carried it to her grave.
Consumed by his loss, Unus abandoned his sister and his cubs to search for the killer. Exhausted by his quest, he saw the killer's face and became his final victim. Together in death, they are survived by their cubs. Wahadi, who took the name Majilipo-ni-Tupu, named one of his daughters Uko in her memory. COLORIST: Meep OBTAINED: RP contest
