And the suffix -chan is merely a term of endearment for children and girls and doesn't necessarily mean "cute."

@Kirei_chan: I know it's an endearment (or more precisely, a suffix) - and the reason it's used on little children (or between two very close friends) is because it means cute or 'cute little' just like -kun and -san can be translated into mr mrs or ms.

I've been a manga-geek for over 5 years, it's in the backbone by now rolleyes
