Drake started to his senses at the sound of a dog howling and immediately crouched like a cat, trying to hide himself in the undergrowth while he listened. His sense of smell was still saturated with the spilt blood on his clothes, but he kept his eyes and ears open. He thought he heard a woman's voice and the sound of scuffling feet as whoever it was turned direction. He wasn't too worried - he should be able to escape form any human eaisly enough, but he didn't wnat them to even catch a glimpse of him. Having a face or even a hair colour to place to the killings would make his hunting harder. When the sounds receded he continued to wait...no one else was coming. He relaxed once more and turned to the body. Perhaps it would do him good to hide it a little better after all. At least out of sight from the main path. Irritated, but nevertheless glad of a distraction from the emptiness that occupied him, he stood back up and walked to her. With a simple movement he scooped her up over his shoulder - not caring to respect her body - and walked quitely further into the woods. Now he was undistracted his bare feet began to throb, but he ignored them. A few more feet into the line of trees he dropped the body into some bushes. He rooted around in her purse, withdrawing some cash and reliving her of her jewellry. He then discovered her watch and removed it, slipping it onto his own wrist. It was a little tight, but would suffice.
Once satisfied he nodded to himself and continued through the trees. He didn't want to chance another encounter with anyone else coming from the bar. If his memroy served him, the trees would come out at the back of the local supermarket car park, where he could find some shelter to sleep. While it would be hours before dawn, he had been awake from the gnawing hunger the says previously and would enjoy a good sleep. Unconsiousness would distract him from dwelling on his hollow-feeling.

Koko went down the street pass a few houses...

"Miss Shukah!" A higher pitched whipser called to her. She paused to see Fayt leaning out his bedroom window. "You shouldn't be out this late. It's too dangerous with the-"

"I have Bly and Yoki with me, Fayt," she replied with a smile from his concern for her. He was a sweet boy. "And you know night is the only time I can come out."

"I know but...." he protested.

"I'm heading home now-don't worry about me and go to bed," she said. "I'll see you tomorrow."

Feeling defeat he wished her a good night and retreated into his room.

Koko made her way home quickly after that.

After a while of picking through the trees Drake spotted the security lighting of the supermarket ahead of him. The carpark was deserted but for a couple of vehicles and he made his way to one. Sitting on the hood of the car he took a moment to finally examine his feet - aggrivated by the tarmac once more. They were a genrally scarred surface of skin wich had constantly been attempting to heal but hadn't the chance. he sighed. New shoes would be important, ifhe could only figure out his size and kill his next victim appropriately. He held out the woamn's cash and jewellry and inspected it. Buying items was an option, but he wasn't presentable enough to enter a shop and he didn't want ot appear as a stranger. the town was small enough that most people were farmiliar with one another in some way or another; news would travel. It wouldn't help that he sounded foreign. While he had travelled to America some thrity years before the Civil War, he had never quite developed the accent properly. There was always the occasional English inflection or turn of expression which gave him away. It was hard enough keeping up with the more modern words and phrases of any country.
He grunted and leant back on the car windscreen. Life was just a litte too complicated when one was 'sober' and could think clearly.
He mused over where to stay. He could return to the empoty house, though he wasn't 100% sure when the owners would reurn from holiday.

Her dogs seemed to calm down a bit after they were home. They took their place on the pillows and blanket laid out for them in a corner of her bedroom.

Yoki rested her head over Bly's nest and the two slowly slipped into a peaceful slumber.

Koko meanwhile changed her clothes into simple black attire. She was going back to investigate what upset her pets. Quietly and unnoticed she slipped through the darkness of her dark mistress. Although there were times she missed the sun, the night had always been her favorite time. It was somehow more free. But putting those thoughts aside she quicken her pace. A few minutes later the scent of human blood filled her senses. It only took a few more moments to discover the body's hiding place.

Koko could sense no life pulsing through the woman's body. And is was obvious that her attacker care not about the condition of her remains given the seemingly abrupt toss of her corpse. Koko carefully moved around to get a better view of the woman's face. She was familiar....not someone Koko was friends with but she knew she had seen her around. A regular at the bar scene. Then through a glint of moonlight Koko's attention was drawn to her neck......bite marks?

Koko had lived in this town for 18 years....if there had been a vampire would know. But then those recent attacks in the past month.....she never saw the other bodies but it would explain things. She would check out the body of Fayt's mother, Grace, and confirm her suspicions. She already felt awful failing her great niece.....if she failed to realize it was a vampire who had done it......

Koko bared her fangs in fustration at the thought, and veneges flared in her mind. She would keep an even closer eye on Fayt now.... She left the body as it was and untouched by her There was nothing she could do for her, and there was no sign of her reviving as a vampire. She would go check by Fayt's again and go home to call the police about her dogs becoming aggitated at this area. They would investigate due to the recent killings and the trust the gained with them over the years.

She hurried back. The lights were out at the Jones's home at she pasted by. When she got home she quickly called the local police and told them of the events that occured. They would no doubt be by later tonight or in the daylight hours.

Bly and Yoki had awoken upon her return. She lead them to the door and gave them a command. They ran off immediately down the street and disappeared. They arrived on the Jones's property and hid in the brushes to keep guard. Koko meanwhile would try to get a little shut eye. Perhaps normal vampires stayed wake during the night but with her business she worked during some of the light hours. Keeping up appearance she supposed.

After an hour or two of resting by the car and musing over the stars and on whether his current issues could be cured by acquiring some alcahol, Drake was alerted by the distant sound of sirens. His eyes narrowed and he looked behind him back to where he had stashed the body in the distance. The police could surely not be so fast. he knew they would be eager by now, but there was no way soemone would have discovered the body already. He glanced down at the woman's watch on his wrist and the fake diamonds on it glittered in the moonlight; it was barely midnight. The bar didn't close until 1 am.
He continued to glare into the night and slid off the hood of the car. he didn't notice the small trail of blood he had stained onto it's surface.

"...the hell?" he murmured, gnawing on his bottom lip again. he had to make his way out of here and into private shelter quickly. The twitchy public would associate the sirens with danger and be especially alert. he decided that looking for another place to spend the day would be too risky and time consuming. he would be forced to return to the house where the family were on holiday. He hoped they were not back yet.

He marched off through the carpark, weaving around the edge of the building and onto the main road. Occasional cars streaked by with their headlights shining and he shrank away from them. he crouched, waited for a gap and then scurried out into the main street's path, keeping to the edges. there was little tree cover here, and many people had open yards rather than fully planted gardens. He felt exposed. A rush of adrenaline tingled down his spine as he heard the sirens growing closer than before and he wondered if they would travel down from this street - he tried to remember whereabouts the police station was, but he knew many officers took their cars home with them also.

He straightened his back and forced hismelf to try and walk naturally- keeping in the darkest areas as he walked, avoiding the streetlights. He turned a sidestreet to another residential area and sighed, shaking his head. Suddenly his attention was caught by a couple walking towards him. he looked from side to side, mentally cursed, and looked around for some form of escape or hiding place. Finding none he tensed and continued to walk in the dark, attempting to pass them without notice. Most people did not do a double take when passing strangers.
The adrenaline increased as he neared them - his heart pounding. He heard the couple talking in hurried and curious voices about the police sirens. They neared him and he forced hismlef to exhale and try to look relaxed. He had half passed them before the man turned around and stopped in his step. Drake continued to walk and heard the man exclaim soemthing, soon joined by the woman's exclamation of surprise and horror. There was a scuffling sound as the man stood closer to the woman in an attempt to protect her and there was a telltale pause. Drake cursed - they had spotted him and they were hesitating with indecision of what to do.
Drake had two options - fight or flight. They had seen his face, his clothes...

He stopped walking and the couple immediately began to walk quickly in the opposite direction - a mix between their desire to break into a run for help and their desire to remain unnoticed. Their thundering heartbeats reveleaed 100% that they knew who he was

Damn it!

His decision made but his mind flighty and unsure of how to silence them quickly enough, Drake about turned and charged for the people. he was fast, but not fast enough to stop the woman screaming when she realised. The man attempted to shield her as Drake slammed into him, knocking him to the ground, and he actually managed to land a punch to Drake's face. The woman hesitated again as Drake slammed his fists into the man to silence his cries and struggles. She started screaming for help again at the top of her lungs. Drake relaised he had his hands full.
With the man struggling beneath him on the floor, Drake caught hold of the woman's leg as she attempted to break into a run for help. She screeched again as she fell and cracked her head on the sidewalk. The man started calling for help and screaming obscenities at him, and Drake quickly found the situation getting out of control - he just had to kill them quickly. Gripping now onto the struggling woman with one arm as the man writhed beneath him, he managed to grab a chunk of the man's hair and slam his head repeatedly on the sidewalk, simultaneously pulling the woman in to bite her throat with all the force his could muster. The screams quickly subsided as the venom in his fangs began to paralyse the woman and the man was either dead or unconcious. Finally subdued, he snapped both their necks to finish the job.
He did not want them coming back.

When things were silent for a brief moment again he sat back panting in the exertion and panic he had felt. he was disorientated. the blood on him was tasty but didn't appeal now he was full. He was too upset with how the attack had almost failed and his cover was almost blown to enjoy it. Around him the lights of windows of the hosues around him flicked on and people started to make their way to their windows and doors to see what the commotion was. he cursed loudly and left the couple, running as fast as his legs wuld carry him down the street, searching for any form of safety to hide in.

((He's not going to be a happy person when he mets Koko....))

Fayt awaken to the sirens in the short distance as well as what he thought was a scream. Bly and Yoki too-were alert, but remained hidden in the shadows when Fayt came to his window.

Fayt saw nothing out of the ordinary but remained at his window. For a brief moment he thought he saw someone but it turned out to be just a cat who's eyes flickered in the darkness.

Elsewhere, Koko's brief slumber was distrubed by the sirens. There was also the sense of something else she thought she felt and through the noises of the night she also thought she heard a scream. She went down the stairs and stepped outside onto the sidewalk. Watching.....listening.....but there where no more screams. She hoped it was her worried imagination and hoped Fayt was safe. She decided to linger in front of the shop a while and wait.

((tee hee I hope to meet her soon- should be fun XD - and yes, class sucks *hands you lollipop of optimism* lol))

Drake continued running, his mind fluttering around like a caged wild bird. behind him he heard slamming doors and people calling to one another in fear and panic as they were met with the fresh and broken bodies.
He charged down the first sidestreet he found, which brought him into another street that was covered in houses and a couple of small shops. he looked around for houses with no lights on and swiftly hopped over a chain-link fence into a house's garden. he crouched and scrabbled around, heading for the garage. Finding it locked he hissed another curse again and secreted himself in the bushes that srrounded one wall of it, pressing himself under the ledge of a widnow overlooking the garden. he finally sat and pulled his knees to his chest, panting again. a little ahead of him the bushes rustled as a cat made her way through the undergrowth, drawn by his unusual smell. as she appeared and turned her pale face up at him he bared his fangs. she spat a hiss and scittered off into the darkness.
he exhaled, tried to remain still and lenat heavily aaginst the wall, closing his eyes for a moment to collect himself.

Bly and Yoki circled around the house. Bly paused to sniff the air-catching an intruders scent. Then he lowered his head and groweled from deep in his throat. A warning to whoever was out there. Yoki stood shortly behind Bly and did the same. Bly's coat got caught in the moonlight and caght Fayt's attention from his window.

He recognized the dog immediately-being that he often took dog on walks and they were the only German sherperds in town. But why were they here and why did Bly appear angry? Had something happened to Koko perhaps? Was that what the sirens were about? Had he not imagined the scream?! Had the scream in fact been Koko?!

Fear and panic gripped him as he rushed to the phone downstairs and dialed her number-not caring about the hour. With every ring his fear grew. After three rings...

"Hello?"

Fayt gave a sigh of relief. "Hello?" she asked again.

"Oh....ah-hi Miss Shukah," he replied. "It's Fayt."

"Fayt! What are you still doing up?" she scolded but then changed to a sound of concern. "Are you all right? Did something happen!?"

"Um....no...yes....I mean...," he mumbled. "I fine-school is out anyway....actually I was calling to make sure you were alright."

"Me?" she asked. "Of course I'm alright, why do you ask?" She masked the growing concern in her voice. Fayt wouldn't call her without good reason at this hour.

"Well.....its just that I saw Bly outside and he looked angry...." he said. He didn't notice Yoki but since the two were always together he suspected she was near by.

The moment Fayt mentioned Bly alarms were already going off in her head. "Fayt, stay in the house," she ordered before she suddenly hung up.

"But-" he about protested and he heard the dial tone again. What was going on? He had never heard such a commanding tone from her before. And what about the dogs? Surely she wasn't coming to get them...now...at this hour....with such commotion going on. Fayt wondered over to the window and watched Bly, noticing Yoki in as well. However he couldn't see what they were watching so.....carefully.

Koko was rushing down the street. There was no time to concern herself with the police-they were no doubt busy already. Her primary concern was Fayt and only Fayt. She prayed to the spirits that that boy stayed in the house. She slowed her pace once she was on Fayt's street.....

Drake stiffened as he heard a deep growl coming from a few feet away from him and pressed himself to the wall further. It sounded farmiliar, but he told himslef it couldn't be the dogs from earlier. after all, countless people had dogs i this town - or any town for that matter. He toyed with the idea of moving to a safer spot away from the canine.... (another growl: he checked, -canines plural). He decided that movement was probably not a good option. The dogs could probably smell him but not see him - like any predetory animals he new that movement would alert thier sight and sense and send them after him. He hoped they would get disinterested and simply leave.
Nevertheless, he wanted to be away form the dogs. They had teeth after all and these two sounded nasty. While they wouldn't kill him, it'd be painful and loud if he had to fight them off. he paused and ran through his options and then decided. Gradually and very slowly he uncrouched and edged up the windowsill to look inside. The house's lower regions were completly dark, so its occupants were asleep. If he could get inside he would be away from the dogs and better able to find another escape route. At least he could hide for a little while.
He looed around him and gradually, quietly tried the window. It nudged slightly in it's frame. It should be able to slide up - the locks were quite old here. he willed a little more force into it and it creaked quietly as it caught agianst the latch.

"Bly. Yoki," Koko's voice spoke in a whisper followed by commands in her old native language. The dogs haulted their growling for a moment and backed away towards Fayt's house-their growling beginning again.

Fayt meanwhile had already dozed off-standing by the window. Koko shook her head in disbelief but quickly turned her attention to what angered her pets. She smelled blood....if was a little faint and dry but blood none the less.

Then she heard the sound of something creak and her eyes narrowed. Her eyes were better than those of a human. She could make out and sense the intruder, but did she dare confront him with Fayt so close?

Drake continued to heave against the window and gradually, wth a grinding sound that was more pronouced, the latch crumbled and broke off and he was able to fully open the window. He froze as he half crawled in, listening to see if the occupants had heard his enterance. The silence concerned him. While he was pleased he didn't immediately hear the house occupants, the fact the dogs had stopped growling was unsettling. Like they had been cut off.
He paused and then edged his way into the house, dropping almost silently onto the floor below. He crouched and paused again.
PostPosted: Tue Sep 01, 2009 9:01 am
Koko decided against bringing attention upon the intruder-at least immediately. If this truly was another vampire she didn't want to risk Fayt's neighbors waking up and being injured. Koko oddly suspected that this person was trying to hide and didn't want to risk the same thing. So she fell back into the darkness to see if he or she would emerge and would wait until the risk of morning or other wise.

Creeping through the living room, Drake wondered if he would be able to hide in the house all day. he coudl perhaps seclude hismlef in teh garage, but the occupants would probably require the use of their vehicle. Nowadays people always went around in them for the smallest reasons. he wondered if tehre was a closet or a utility room, but it was too risky.
He dithered about frowning and sighed.
he needed shelter, but now he had caused such a ruckkus people would know he was in the area. he needed to hide outside away from people and he needed to do it fast. he found himself edging back towards the window now he was safe form the dogs and checked if they were still following. he leant hsi head out into the night air and sniffed. The scent of teh dogs was still around, but then soemthing surprised him. he stiffened and sniffed again.
The scent was unmistakable - like a human but more feral, with its own instincts attached to it...a vampire?
he chewed on his lip agin until he draw blood and ran a tongue over the bleeding cuts.
"Damned if I do, damned if I don't." He curiosity was lit, but the possible prescense of a vampire worried him. He had still not forgotten the encounter with his own kind back in england - the encounter that led him fleeing traumatised and injured from England to this New world.

((I'm being bad and RPGing in painting class....))

Koko saw the figure at the window. There was no doubt now that he was a vampire-instincts told her so. A chill went up her spine as she came to realize he sensed her as much as she sensed him. But still she remained hidden. She would wait.....try to confront him somewhere more secluded.

(lol tisk tisk XD)

Drake finally spotted the vampire he sensed. He paused, keeping perfectly still, and observed it, wiating for its reaction. It was a woman, and she seemed reluctant to act.
"There's only one.." he murmured, reassuring himself. She held the dogs on a teather and he nodded to himself - so they were hers. That was interesting.
As she made no move he exhaled slowly and finally broke eye contact.
He was 'busted' essentially. Now it was time to tango and see hwo dangerous she was to him. If seh was safe and unintrusive than she might be useful:she would at least have shelter for the daylight. Nevertheless he wished he owned a proper weapon.
Slowly, so as not to startle her, he climbed back out of the window. he then pause din teh garden, and walked quietly but confidently off to the side, picking trhough into the neighbour's garden. He did not hurry, but made it clear he was walking away from her. he wanted to see if she woud follow hima nd communicate. He kept his eyes ahead of him but his senses alert.
