Actually, those accents aren't that hard to understand (unless it's a drunken Scot XD) Really, the only trick is the fact that they pronounce some words differently in the UK, as well as the inevitable slang differences. In all honesty, the only accent I've had trouble understanding while I was in Europe was a really thick German accent.

Well, one of my teachers gave an impression of someone from Northumberland and...yeah, couldn't understand him a bit until he slowed it down and changed the way he said it slightly. Then it was like, "Ohhhh! I hear words now!" xd

He's old, but that's not what makes it hard to understand.

As far as I can tell, they're almost like the "southerners" of the US, in that their accent has some differences between the regions of that area and that it's held together mostly because of the more rural setting of that area...but that's just from wikipedia, so I could be wrong.

But Detroit isn't too bad. It may have it's urban decay, but the city itself has a pretty vibrant, happening atmosphere. There's lots to do around here.

The picture of the collapsed bridge was when a meijer truck (the truck under the bridge) hit a tanker, and the tanker exploded in an awesome fireball and destroyed the bridge. No one was hurt.

I've been to many cities. I'm rather fond of Chicago. I really really like San Fransisco, the place is just wonderful. Charleston, which I went to for the first time earlier this year, has a wonderful small town feel with lots of great restaurants. Toronto isn't bad, either. And St. Louis has some great museums.

But of course, I'm really fond of my small liberal college town.

Detroit's only good if you live in, and only go around, in the upper class neighborhoods and such. Three cities from Michigan were in the Top Ten List of Most Crime Filled Cities in the US. My stepdad parked the car outside of the gas station, locked the doors, we went inside for 10 minutes, came out just in time to see someone drive away in my stepdad's car. The most pitiful part of that memory is that there were like 8 people outside when it happened, nobody bothered to say anything, call the police, try and stop the guy. ******** dirtbags. The police found the car, it was missing the car radio, catalytic converter, and even the muffler. Of course all our suitcases had been rummaged through and my gameboy was taken along with my stepdad's watch. What a big "Welcome-To-Detroit", we got right?

I've always had a strange desire to burn down the ghettos of Detroit, either with napalm and cluster bombs, or robots armed with flamethrowers and chainguns. Be assured the criminal elements in Detroit will be the first to die when I rise to power.
