The Weekend my Pants couldn't stay together.....I had to make a couple of pairs of pants, but due to the fact I had spent all my money on an ungrateful girlfriend (now and x-girlfriend) I couldn't afford to buy any fabric. So I had to use what was at hand. I tell you what, what was at hand was ok, but not the best, and a little under in the amounts, but I made it work.
I had two costumes that had to have pants...everything else came out nice, but these two had to have pants, I put them together, they looked pretty good, and I began to where them.....first pair of pants, tore at the crotch...I go back to the hotel room, not sweeting it, and I pin it (we have a rule, no sewing machines in the hotel room, one of us can't stop working and will miss the con if we have one there). well it survived for what we needed. Then the second one....It didn't rip until I took it into the pool, I thought it would be fun, and it was. But the stitches just completely broke, not any of the fabric, but the thread broke. Now, I know now how to prevent this, but these were the first I had to make pants (usually I just have to use spandex/black pants/blue jeans, stuff that I have already made for everyday use) Well, this year I hope my crotch stitch doesn't brake, I probably won't notice if it does in this new costume. but as I was saying, it was a curse! A curse!!!!

So the most recent horror story I have didn't happen at the convention, but after it.
Me and two friends went to NYAF, and we were heading back to upstate New York where they lived which was about a 2 hour drive from the city... Shame that we got lost and made that 2 hour drive a 4 hour drive.
I had several panic-attacks as I don't even live in New York, let alone drive around there and it was nighttime and raining and OMG I wanted to die! D': So after driving around lost, I took a ramp and across the median saw the exit we were supposed to be on-- But there was no way to get there...
Until I made a way.
I circled back around, said a small prayer, and jumped the median, went through two lanes of traffic, and got us unlost.
Of course by then it was soopa late and being at a convention I had gotten little to no sleep the entire time... So 50 miles away from their house, I begin to hallucinate-- I can't switch drivers because A. The two friends were both asleep and B. Neither of them have their license. So there I was driving as out of it as if I had just dropped acid, and somehow managed not to kill us...
Blacked out twice, and for the following 30 miles I thought I was driving on Rainbow Road from the Mario Kart game. I was that out of it that everything around me looked like furkin' Rainbow Road .__.
Needless to say, I never want to relive any sort of experience like that.

That sounds like utter and complete madness O_o'. They should put warning tags on convention tickets! "Do not drive afterwards! Don't follow the colours! No really, we mean it!" o.o'. I was already more than glad my mom was driving me home after my last convention, and I didn't need to go by train D=.

I am horribly afraid of crowds. It's been like that since I was in middle school and has gotten worse now that I'm in college. Public transportation and crowded elevators frighten me because of that.
Okay, well now that that's out of the way. My local anime convention is Tekkoshocon. For a few years, it was located at the Expo-mart in Monroeville, Pa. It was lovely; nice and big and I could use the stairs without problem (my room was usually on the 12th floor). Then, they tore it down.
In '08, we were in a Radison Hotel, not too far away. I usually couldn't walk the main floor without freaking. It was that bad since the hotel was too small for us. No stairs to be seen either.
In '09, we moved to the giant convention center/hotel in Pittsburgh. It's so big, you can't tell that there are lots of people in there. Again, I couldn't use the stairs, was on the 14th floor... and I couldn't handle the elevators. I had a panic attack almost every time I went into one that Saturday and Sunday. I think that the one time, my friends and I waited for an hourish to actually get me into an elevator that had space in it.
This upcoming con, I'm definately checking with the staff to see if I can use those stairs. I'm not going to break down again.

The Lone Wolf Jedi The only con cosplay horror story I can share was at the first con I cosplayed at, AX 08, I did L, Kyon, Capt. Urahara, and Leon Kennedy. When I was planning my Kisuke cosplay I thought the ultimate accessory would be Benihime, so I bought it online and took it with me, at the con they had a thing called "Peace Bond" where all weapon accessories had to be checked and tagged with a yellow band, I checked mine and they said I couldn't have it because it was a real sword, so now sitting next to my bed at home is a $65 dust magnet At my first convention, one of my friends brought a real sword. We were sitting down and the sword fell on my head. I'm so lucky the case was on it >.<
