Kidondo nodded, thinking of the change with warmth. Seeing how the pride had flourished and changed since then brought him an incredible sense of pride, in both those who had added him in the fight that day and those who had adapted so well.
Firekin were survivors, after all.
"An earthquake?" The Firekin had not been truly affected by the earthquake. Nothing more than subtle tremors to shake the sand briefly beneath their paws. All in all, most hadn't even realised what had happened, much less thinking that elsewhere might have been worse affected. "I'm sorry to hear that, Kijibwa."
To be parted from a mate...his heart clenched at the thought of it. To live without No was to...was to...No, there was no living without her. He'd realised that a long time ago. He knew that his old friend in passing must have been desprate to meet up with her again.
"Then I hope you manage to find her." Kidondo paused. "I do not wish to slow you on your journey, but if you wish to stay here a while, rest and feed up before continuing, you are most welcome."

Kiji did his best not to frown, he wasn't letting himself be sad about Siku being missing. He was sure she would be there in the jungle, waiting for him. He hadn't really considered how logical it was to imagine they'd really have to go that far to meet up again, it just made sense to him.
"It's been so long already, I think we ought to keep moving," he said, nodding but smiling gratefully at Ondo, "Thank you for the offer, though."
Hiba still hadn't said very much, and he was almost ready to speak up when the red lion offered to let them stay and rest. He certainly didn't like this place much, he was eager to get out of the sand and he wasn't so readily trusting of the red lion. He might have been, if he thought his father wasn't so delusional right now. Even the part of him that would have liked to slow down didn't want them to stop here.

Kidondo nodded, understanding. He would have done the same if he were Kijibwa. "Very well, my friends. I'll bid you a safe journey and let you go on your way. I shouldn't have thought it would take too much longer to reach the jungle from here."
He turned his head to the band of green and remembered how that place had saved him and No so long ago. The Firekin held a fear of that place and would not go inside, but he and his mate had braved it and lived. The jungle was a scary place, but it was not instant death to step beneath the trees.
"Kijibwa, Hiba, if you ever pass through this way again, feel welcome to stop and visit."
He stepped back and away. "Take care."

"I'm sorry we don't have more time to exchange stories," he said, smiling sadly, "Maybe next time. And what you've said so far says a lot. I'm glad you're doing well, Kidondo." Kijibwa was genuinely happy to see Kidondo again, despite how he was reminded of how big his first children would be by now- of course, Hiba himself was a fair reminder of that.
"Thank you," he said again, smiling at Ondo and turning to Hiba, "Let's get going, this time we'll pay more attention, hm?"
Hiba almost jumped as he was addressed, looking at Ondo and nodding shakily. Truthfully, he was scared of the red lion. He was unfriendly to start and he still seemed almost too serious. Even when he was being friendly.
"Thanks," he added meekly when his father began directing them away. He tried to smile but he just wasn't cheerful enough, but he managed a nod. And then they were off again, looking for someone they would never find.
