This may seem to be a strange sidetopic. But with what you've afore mentioned in mind, what are your views of partical physics? Would you say that whatever universal power is out there left the universe to run and expand like clockwork, part of the interaction of everything, or that it directly interferes with certain events (granting visions and such)? I always find it worth questioning.
I am agnostic by the way, so please don't be affronted by my science references (for some reason a lot of people usually are...

i do believe God lets the universe unfold as it may, given that we decided what events we wanted to happen in our lives before we got here (from my beliefs) but because of free will, there is no telling whether or not we will follow what we have written. And in certain cases we can change what we have written through prayer.
now things like natural disasters are almost certain to happen. then again, there is always a small chance that they won't
