History: Awani's wandering rogue life changed when she met a large, gentle lion. He was on a mission, seeking to strengthen the bloodline of his diseased pride. She was touched by their story, and impressed with his dedication to the plight of his own. She agreed willingly to bear him a litter of cubs for him to take back home. She had insisted on going back with him to see this pride, to ensure her cubs would be treated well and lovingly. There was no question the big male would love them, but would the rest of the pride accept hybrids?
She was more than reassured, and soon left with one little female from her litter. They journeyed together across the roguelands until Awani found a pride that would accept her daughter, and who fought for those unable to fight for themselves. It seemed a good match, and she chose to settle down and become a member of a pride for the first time in her life.
She had settled into the pride and become a working member of it, when she met a skinny, malnourished, weak lion male. She offered friendship, and eventually more than just friendship. They could be called mates, or just friends with benefits, but there is no denying that a strong relationship of respect and kindness has developed that likely will end up with little fluffballs as a result, someday.

Personality: Haruma is a very motherly sort of lioness. She prefers to look after others, to ease their hearts and soothe their pains. She isn't a horrible stickler for the rules, but she believes that to love means to respect as well. She is a devoted mate and doting mother.
History: As a cub, Haruma was abandoned by her panicked mother along with her two siblings. They were rescued by members of the Kitwana'antara, which was a mixed blessing, since they lived to grow up, but gained the disease. Being an orphan, Haruma took it upon herself to adopt a lion she was drawn to, claiming him as her father as long as he didn't mind. He didn't, and she and her siblings became his first cubs. After that point, Sliabh went on to sire many many cubs, and Haruma became a cross between a big sister and surrogate mother.
As she grew, her maturity far out-stripped her age. She apprenticed herself to the healer Gerda, learning herblore first and best. Even after becoming an adult and having those with the rank specifically to gather herbs for healing, Haruma finds herself doing it herself out of enjoyment. Also early in her life, she met the male who was to become her childhood sweetheart and adult mate. Nothing could have made her happier, even though Eu has always been sickly. It wasn't his outside she loved best, but his inner heart. Together, they have had a litter of cubs that is the delight of Haruma's life, despite the sorrow of the pride and the touch of disease already showing in her own cubs.

Personality: Jazua tends to take a survival point of view on the world. She will do what is necessary to continue accomplishing her goal, whatever that may be. That has been derailed recently, as she no longer has any goals beyond mere survival. Despite this, she retains her desire to remain independent and self-sufficient.
History: She and her twin grew up in a perfectly average sort of family, but somehow her twin was dissatisfied and struck out on her own. The sensible one of the pair, Jazua decided to head out after her sister when Jazi did not return. She tracked her across the roguelands, but had to admit she needed a place to shelter during the dry season. About that time, a rude and lofty male decided he would claim her and take her to his pride. She had thought he'd take her as (one of his many) banu. However, upon discovering her twin was already there, Raja rejected her, relegating her as a kajira, or rebellious female.
Granted, Jazua rarely guarded her tongue, but she was learning quickly that such behavior got her nowhere. It was very disgruntling to be given an unsavory rank without a by-your-leave, and without being given credit for learning the pride's odd ways. Unfortunately for Jazua, she then gave birth to a litter of cubs. Raja took them from her, as a kajira wasn't a fit mother for his cubs. When two of her daughters showed the inclination to be strong-willed and stubborn, like their mother, she endeavored to help them escape, since she was certain they would end up in the same position as she. She bore the harsh consequences with the knowledge that her daughters were safe.
Shortly thereafter the pride disbanded, giving Jazua the chance to escape. However, with her body already much abused, her headlong flight sapped her of all strength, muscle, and awareness. She ended up stranded in Aka'mleli, wounded and in need of recuperation. In this serene pride, she would eventually find peace, as well as the freedom she had sought for so long.

Personality: Jazi is an odd individual, as she builds castles in the sky for herself, and somehow isn't daunted by them tumbling down. She is cheerful and bright-natured, right down to her toes. She is affectionate and loving, and quite the opposite of her twin. Unfortunately she also is easily swayed, being rather naive. This has changed somewhat as she's matured, but is still essentially true, since she will believe whatever is told her by those she cares about.
History: Having grown up in a normal family, she had visions of romantic grandeur early in life. When a rogue male came by and promised undying love, she was certain it was the real thing. She left with him, but was abandoned when they were too far out for her to find her way back. She wandered alone for some time, still convinced that her true love was waiting for her somewhere. In this state of mind, she came across Rahim, who was searching for a banu to entice home with him. He filled her ears with the same promises as the previous rogue, meaning very little of it, and took her back to be one of his two banu.
She was devestated to find she'd been fooled once again. This time, though, she was stuck in the relationship. Her enduring and optimistic heart gave her the strength to carry on, so that she remained upbeat and affectionate towards her Pad. This cheerful spirit led him to become more fond of her, which was a larger blessing than she could dream. Eventually the pride fell apart, scattering its members like dandelion fluff in the wind. Jazi felt honored that Rahim chose her to escape with, that it was she that he took with him.
After roaming the roguelands, they found a home with the Ela, where they now reside in the Bird Clan. Jazi finds her new life very peaceful and stable, and is glad to leave the chaos of harems and the roguelands behind her.

Personality: Sahak is an all around good guy. He is respectful, kindly, gentle, and usually can laugh easily. However, he is very vulnerable and can be hurt easily sometimes.
History: A normal cubhood led to him thinking his life was settled forever. This was destroyed when the pride sickened and scattered. Part of his family headed for the desert, while his parents left for cooler climes, followed by one of his sisters. He clung to the lands he'd grown up in, and finally only left them in despairing resignation. He wasn't made to live alone, but it seemed fate had decided to teach him that forcefully. After weeks alone, he came across a Pridelands female. He found comfort and company with her, and was only mildly surprised to find they had created cubs as a result. After a time, though, he realized that the Pridelands was not his home, and that he very much wanted to track down his parents.
He managed to catch wind of where they might have gone. He sought out the peaceful, reclusive Ela, certain that his parents had found a home there. He was delighted to find he was correct, and that one of his sisters also had joined them. He opted to join a different clan, but now lives happily in Ela, near to his family.

Personality: Taabika has several quirks. Most notable is that she refuses to be touched by anyone but her biological mother. She is not angry with everyone else, nor does she hold it against them afterwards. But when touched, she will writhe and cry out as if in pain or great distress. Besides this, she is also given to being very quiet. She'll talk, but won't say much when she does. Her mother is the exception to both rules, though that is of little help while she is on her own. This has also led to her being painfully fearful and shy in recent times.
History: Taabika grew up in a strange family situation, with multiple parents instead of just the normal two. This is what led to her preferring her actual mother over any other individual. It is unclear whether Taabika was born with her condition or developed it early in her cubhood. Regardless of its beginning, it has plagued her ever since. Siblings, relatives, even vague acquaintances would all eventually cause her pain by forgetting and touching her.
With hopes of no longer being harmed by those she cared about, she left the odd family group and began traveling on her own. To her dismay, she ended up meeting a very large, very cruel male lion. He toyed with her and played with her pain for a long time, and eventually left her for dead. Scarred mentally from her ordeal, she has been skulking about, traveling only by night, and keeping her tell-tale headfur and markings covered with a large scrap of canvas.
Recently her fortunes have changed, however. She has been discovered by a kind-hearted leopard. Strange as it is, she has been slowly responding to his offers of help and reassurance.

History: Faraji was raised to respect and admire females, rather than to strike or belittle them. He had a rough time out in the roguelands, but finally found his rogue banu, falling in love with her on the way back. Once he returned, he knew exactly whom he wished to request as his Beybanu, and was lucky enough that she agreed.
After fathering a beautiful litter of cubs who grew strong and loving, things started falling apart. The pride disbanded after much chaos. Faraji gathered his females to him and went in search of somewhere to belong. Still they search.

Personality: She can be a bit thick-headed and stubborn, but generally she must be very stirred up over something to act thusly. She feels a strong loyalty to family and pack, considering those bonds to be sacred. She is very enduring as well, refusing to admit defeat due to her visual disability, finding ways to do what she needs or wants to do.
History: Dauer was born with a defect of her eyes. While not completely blind, the can only see light, color, and general shape. All details are fuzzy or nonexistent to her. Rather than leave her to die, or treat her as sub-par, her pack found ways she could be useful and helpful. Having purpose gave her the courage to learn new ways of doing the things everyone else did without thinking. It wasn't long before she was a highly valued member of the pack, tending puppies and helping anyone out who asked.
While she was an adolescent, a stranger came to join their pack. He was a smooth-talker, always offering compliments to the older, mated females in a teasing manner, and flirting with the younger wild dogs. It wasn't long, however, before Dauer's courage and strength drew him in, and they began spending more and more time together. By the time they announced their intention to become mates, the entire pack was delighted and welcomed him into the family.
All was well in Dauer's world, until one day she realized something precious. She held the news to her like a beloved secret, intending to tell her mate later that night. When she approached him, he was eager to talk, but insisted on leading her out into the wild lands. He insisted that she follow him, enticing her on with jokes, teasing, laughter, and affection. The sky darkened and the moon rose, but still he led her on. She willingly followed him, until she began to grow uneasy. Hours and hours passed, but he still was leading her away from the pack. Though they argued, she finally turned for home, hurrying with her unease.
The sun was rising when she finally made it back. The pack's lands smelled of blood and death. By the time she reached the dens, she was at a dead run. Instead of the lively sounds and smells, she saw noone moving around. instead, she tripped over something soft and limp. With an anguished cry, she realized what it was.. what all the now visible lumps of color on the yellowed grass were. Tears streamed from her eyes as she went from body to body, finding every member of the pack, from pup to oldster, brutally slain.
Her mate came up behind her then, pleading with her to understand, claiming that he couldn't have saved them all, so he had saved her. It was with shock she realized he'd known the slaughter was coming, and had kept her from helping her family to fight, to survive. In a fury, she turned on him, driving him away. For days she remained, and every day she drove him away as he tried to appeal to her, or beg forgiveness. On the final day, she coldly informed him she'd never forgive him. That day she left, and has been roaming the roguelands alone, her secret unspoken to anyone.
A brief time of affection with a passing rogue later resulted in Dauer traveling the roguelands with pups in tow. It was in her time of need that she came upon a pride that was celebrating... well, something! Drawn by the music, laughter, and smell of food, she led her puppies onto Sikukuu lands. Finding there a safe and happy home, she has remained among them, discovering an unsuspected talent for singing.

Personality: Beyler tends to fret himself into a dither, though for the best of reasons. He cares very deeply for his family and friends, and will be the first to act to safeguard them. He is ultimately good-hearted and gentle, with much love to give. Sometimes he comes off as being an utter worrywart and no fun at all, but given the chance, beyler can let loose and enjoy himself quite well.
History: The only boy in a litter of girls, and with his father laying the responsibility for his sisters' safety at his paws, he soon became a prepetual worryier, due to the antics of his sisters. From cubhood on, he's worried and fretted about them, fussing over them like a mother hen. The older he got, the less this changed. Now that some of his sisters have mates, however, he's learning to let go, and consider his own future.

History: Born into the pride, she was chosen as the next Queen of Vuli. She took on the job with solemn awareness of the responsibility, and found happiness with the King of the Mrao. A disastrous summer storm stole her happy future away, though. Her mate was killed, and the other two rulers went missing, assumed dead. The pride underwent a change thereafter, and a single pair of rulers were named.
Mada meanwhile chose to step down, making way for the new couple, and undertook the role of Royal Assistant.

History: As a roaming rogue, he had little to tie him to anything. A sorrowful experience with a group of lost chicks became the beginning of the greatest happiness of his life. A lovely lioness comforted him after the deaths of his little charges, and led him back to her home. He found it an easy place to fit into, and soon a litter of cubs added to his overflowing joy.

Personality: Liekko will lie to you. Always. He never ever tells the truth. It seems to be a pathological drive, for he simply cannot, will not, and can't fathom telling the truth. None but he know his real name, for he invents a new one each time. He serves only himself. If he can benefit from a specific lie, you can bet he'll use it. He is an actor, a nutcse, and a jerk.
He is the twin who never tells the truth. If it sounds like the truth, you can rely on it being untruth. He lies merrily about things he knows others will never believe, but he doesn't care if they believe him or not. He is mischief and cunning and airy disregard. He follows no rules, he laughs at pain, he is both coward and fool, fearing nothing but fleeing just to do so. He walks the edge of madness, daring it to take him if it can. He isn't always obviously so mad, but it lurks there, beneath the skin, dancing in his eyes, mocking the sane and mundane world.
History: Since he never tells anyone the truth, his past is a complete and utter mystery.
When he ended up with a pup shoved onto him, Liekko simply carried on like normal. He never named the pup, never gave the pup his real name, and otherwise simply treated her like he would anyone else. It was only because she followed him that she ever ate or had any protection. How he felt about having her around is, of course, a mystery.

Personality: Hroarr is at odds with his pride's ways and himself. He is fiercely loyal to both his parents, but is finding himself torn several directions that are contradictory. He has a strong desire to please his father, but finds himself disagreeing with accepted behaviors for reavers and captains. He tries to stay true to himself, give honor to females as equals and to be treasured, and become a leader. He feels the weight of being the Warlord's son very acutely, but is secretly glad that the office won't pass to him automatically, and has no ambition to take over for his father.
History: For a time, he and his littermates were the only offspring of the mightly Warlord. Hroarr was very proud of this, but his pride was shattered by the arrival of another litter... which was not his mother's babies. Thus early in life, he became troubled by the lack of loyalty this indicated. The two litters had a certain amount of rivalry, and though he likes his half-siblings on a personal level, his devotion to his mother makes him wary and unhappy about being around them.
His internal belief system was further shaken on his first viking, where he became aware of the common practice of forcing females. He could only imagine his mother or sisters in that position, and his heart screamed that it was wrong. Ever since, he has kept himself under control, but has privately vowed to not allow this when he becomes a Captain... if he can ever manage such a rank. He's becoming aware of his father's displeasure with him, but bigger things are looming on the horizon which will overwhelm such familial troubles.

Personality: Auri does her best to portray herself as the perfect banu. She is aware of her beauty, and holds herself to high standards to conduct and thought that will match that outer appearance. She keeps herself meticulously clean, and carries herself like someone of importance. Outside of hunting or emergency, she does not run or act harried. Despite all this, though, she does not treat others as her subordinates or inferiors. She does her share of the work willingly, as is only right and proper. She follows the rules closely, and does not try to exempt herself from them.
History: She was raised as the apple of her father's eye, a princess in her own right within the family. She might have become too high and mighty once in a while, but her peers and most especially her mother put a stop to that. She was taught the ways of the pride faithfully, though she also learned to understand the plight of those brought to the pride against their will.
Little of note happened as she grew, but as she became an adolescent, she began to ponder who she might be given to. She tried not to fret that it would be someone ugly or lowly. She did not fear being given to someone truly cruel, but was aware her father might possibly give her to someone heavy-pawed. This didn't bother her, however, since she'd been trained well and had every confidence she could please and obey any fair-minded Pad.
She was therefore quite pleased when she learned that she had been asked for by Pad Aziz'din, son of Sultan Aali. She accepted this mildly, though she celebrated on the inside. She attempted the challenge of attempting to establish herself as Beybanu in Pad Aziz's harem, but never got the chance to truly fight for the position.
The pride erupted in chaos with an uprising, with males being sent away, with cubs being stolen... it was really all very disgraceful! Auri was not pleased when she was left on her own to deal with life as it came. So disgruntled was she, she stalked off into the roguelands alone, taking what dignity she could with her. In her travels, she met an escaped banu and a rogue male in a cave during a storm. After heated words, she chose to follow the male to his home and join him there as his mate. Who needed up-start hoydens anyway?!
