So how detailed do we need to be when we are looking for items? I mean I understand why you need to roll when you're looking for weapons and other things like that, but if I enter a bar, do I need to roll to see if I find a bar stool? I mean I might roll if I'm going to look for an unbroken bottle of key-hall, but it might get somewhat tedious if I need to search for building materials that you might reasonably expect to be in a location (eg, I'm looking for some wiring for an electrical gadget, I should be able to find a light switch and pull it out of the wall, right?)

Other opinions/thoughts?

Figures everybody posted and messaged me on the weekend; lol, weekends are unfortunately my busiest time.

I'll catch up during the week though.

Here we go:

You do not need to roll for small things such as ammo, melee weapons, or crafting materials IF the area you are in is a place where they would normally be located.

i.e. Looking for a box of bullets in the middle of the swamp = No

Crafting materials should be a given, as long as its nothing immense, like an intact engine or something.

Since Sharon is in the auto shop, I am going to roll for large weapons, large weapon ammo, small weapon. I figure she should just be able to find a melee weapon, and other assorted stuff to use with her "electrical" skills . . . mm, fried zombie.

Roll1: Large Weapons
1-2: Nothing. May interfere with roll2
3-5: .302 Marlin lever action rifle
6: 12 guage shotgun ("shotty")

Roll2: Large Weapon Ammo
1-2: The magazine is loaded, but thats all you've got
3-5: Box of ammo on the shelf
6: Why was there a grenade stored with the ammo box???!!

Roll3: Small Weapon
1-2: These guys are wimps (none)
3-5: 1911 gov't issue handgun, chambered in 45
6: And a taser

EDIT: Nice smile Although I wanted the shotty . . .
EDIT2: the Marlin is chambered in 30/30, not .302. What was I thinking?

Well now that everyone has arrived and had an opportunity to search, we will begin the plot *and* chances to be swarmed.

Whoever it lands on will have to face a zombie or two. In the future when more than one person are together, larger groups will attack, or even better... mutated ones.

1 Hunter
2 Pansy "Ann"
3 Donata
4 Guillaume
5 Sharon
6 Nobody

Sharon hears a wrench drop from another room in the autoshop! Moans emanate from behind the management's door! (2 ordinary Infected are breaking down the door.)

Now would probably be a good time to explain how fighting will work.

Rolls will take place here, thrown by me. Zombies, obviously need to be within melee range to attack. Therefore, the first roll will be for the survivor(s) in action.

It will work the same as searching for things.

All bonuses from skills and equipment will be factored in by me before the rolls.

Example:

1-2 (Failure) Sharon misses due to over-hyped adrenaline, wastes 3 bullets.
3-5 (Success) Sharon fires twice with the rifle, killing the front zombie.
6 (Critical Success) Sharon fires once with the rifle, taking both zombies in a single

Oh, and the survivor(s) involved must make a preliminary post either here or in the main thread in order to let me know that they are aware of the impending attack.

Cool, bring on the zombies!

Should I PM you to talk about how the fight is going to go, or will you just throw rolls as we need them?

1-2 (Failure) Sharon misses due to over-hyped adrenaline, wastes 4 bullets.
3-5 (21 Damage) Sharon fires twice with the rifle, killing the front zombie.
6 (Critical Success; 21 Damage x2) Sharon fires once with the rifle, taking both zombies in a single shot.

Results: Boom, headshot! When Sharon fires, she takes aim and kills both zombies in a single shot. There's two grease-monkeys that won't be getting back up.

Question. In an area where there are bodies that have been killed by the zombies, could they, in theory, become reanimated and attack without warning from you?

Sorry, I really don't know what to do for my next post...

No, dead bodies are dead.

Suggestions on what to do:

Fortify your position.
Search for other supplies.

Or:

You can make the decision to search for other survivors, just do a roll to see where you want to go.

Currently:

1: Police Station
2: School
3: Restaurant/Bar
4: Church
5: Library
6: Auto-Repair Shop
