"Perhaps." He replied, softly. "Maybe, as the generations pass and the hold that Finar-Si still has on some of them weakens...maybe then, our pride will be more accepting." But he doubted it. Parents passed on their ideals to their children. The trait would always live somewhat.
"It is regretable...about the Huria, I mean. Some...some don't mind leaving. Some like little Uddhava who was...both afraid and curious. I'm certain that, though they might not realise it at the time, that they're lives will be more fulfilling in a place where they are not being constantly judged on appearance. And, we must not forget that we are not the only warrior pride out there. Others exist and they may find a high rank and respect elsewhere."
It was being cruel to be kind, in truth.
"You and Zii should never be ashamed of the way you are. You may not have red on your pelt, but you have shadow and you have fire. Through your actions and strength, you have proved yourselves. You should both be very proud." Their dedication and loyalty was...the most beautiful thing.
"Thank you." And he was touched, deeply, by her words.
It was perhaps better that he did not know that the little slave he had rescued all that time ago had passed away shortly after, her injuries coupled with childbirth just too much to bear.

Azar shrugged for a moment, "you never know." She chuckled slightly before puffing out her chest then turning back toward her father. "It isn't that bad though. It does set us apart from other pride." She nodded proudly before thinking. "In fact I heard that there are prides out there that are worse then the old pride." She nodded before chuckling slightly. "Our colors are part of us." She shrugged slightly before leaning a little more. "I'm more then sure that they will be welcomed else where." She smiled slightly. "I met a few who were still proud of everything about this pride and were proud of themselves too." She then grinned ear to ear. "And as long as they have the heart of a firekin they still are firekin to me."
She then paused and took her head. "I'm not ashamed of my coat. Neither was Zii. I can say that I'm even prouder of myself being able to show all of those lions up." She chuckled then nudged her father. "Beside I look at mom and think about how she can prove all of them wrong too." She paused and let out another laugh. "Beside! Mom is our leader, she is some one great to look up to."
She nipped at her father's ear before stretching out and standing up on her feet, having a little bit of a hard time doing it. She let out a small laugh as she did. She couldn't help it, getting up with such a round belly was still something that she was getting used to. "I should really get back to the den and see if Khin'del is there." She nuzzled him before pulling back and smiling. "thank you daddy for talking with me."

"They are." He replied. "Black, white and red. Bold, strong, vibrant colours to make the people that carry them." He smiled with pride at that. "It pleases me to hear you say that. I worry about them, I truly do. But...it cannot be helped, sad as it is."
He nodded. "You, Zii and your mother. You are all shining examples of everything the Firekin stand for. Never let anyone tell you otherwise."
He nodded, stepping back a little to show that he understood the little catch up was coming to an end. "Take care, and if you need anything, you know where we are." He watched her leave for a moment and then slowly turned and made his way out across the sand.
