The idea of the cub alone and helpless near the borders was a sobering thought. There were rogues out there who would think little of snatching her up and spiriting her away... not that Orah knew from her own experience, and she'd never met anyone who'd seen or heard of it happening... but she knew it was true all the same. That was the problem with her faulty memory. She -knew- certain things, and yet didn't know why or how...
"I... I guess I do... but I don't remember." She said, dropping her voice low so just the cub would hear her. "Tariq found me, lost and wandering, and he gave me his den to stay in and his protection... I don't remember anything from the time he found me. I mean, I know things, but I don't remember where I learned it. All I remember is wandering, and suddenly coming upon him..." She sighed as she looked out over the pride, her ears back and her face rather solemn.

Thuraya found herself feeling quite sad for the older lioness. Thuraya did not know many things about the world or even about her own home, but she did have her memories, and they were something she cherished a great deal, without them she felt that she wouldn't even know who she was. She forced a small smile on to her face, deciding she didn't want to make the older lion feel any worse then she may already feel.
"Well know you have a home, and a friend. We are going to be friends OK?" Thuraya was showing her younger side know but she had resolved to make the other lioness happy, and the best way the cub knew to do that was to befriend her and smile, so that is what she did.
"I don't have many friends but I would really like it if you could be one of my first?" she asked with a smile.

The innocent word were enough to snap Orah out of her gloomy thoughts and she found herself smiling in return. It was hard to be sad, when someone small and cute was offering to her your friend.
Her smile felt natural on her face and she even laughed a little, nodding. "I would very much like to be your friend, Thuraya. I'll always be here to talk to and to listen if you need it. And maybe as we talk, I'll remember more. You never know."
She chuckled as she reached out a paw and ruffled the cub's head fur playfully, her tail twitching.

Thuraya giggled as the older lion ruffled her fur. "Even if you don't remember thats ok, we can still be friends." she smiled happily. She was very proud of herself for making a new friend, she knew her daddy would be very proud of her, it was good to make connections in the pride and have friends.
The young cub's attention span began to wain, she realized that she wanted to go tell her daddy all that she had done today, after all she didn't have much longer in her father's harem to spend all sorts of time with him, and tell him her stories. As she thought about this she saw her father walk across the pride's lands. "Orah I am sorry but my daddy is just there." she jestured with her nose, "I must go talk to him, I hope to see you again soon." The young cub sat waiting for the other to bid her fairwell before she darted off to meet her daddy.

There was a bit of sadness in the farewell, but an uplifting feeling as well.
"Alright, Thuraya. I'll see you again soon, I'm sure. Have a good night, okay?" Orah waved as the cub scrambled off, a soft expression on her face that she wasn't even aware of.
Cubs were such wonderful things...
