From a Concerned Guild Captain..[update]

Sadly even with the new 'updates' (aka a sticking plaster over a gaping wound) Gaia doesn't much care about the guilds, I wonder if they're trying to make us move away from them ...

That's partially true, but guilds are the captain and crews responsibility alone. They leave most of the problems in the guilds to the captains. They merely give us the tools to do so, as far as care, the guilds are just a reason not to be in the forums.

Gaia created the problem in the first place by not updating the guilds at the same rate as the forums, people lost interest because they weren't updated. There is only so much the guild runners can do to keep it going, Gaia left the 'updates' to the guilds too late.

In a nutshell::

- Guilds recieved a rather small update on fall of 09
- About January or earlier (somewhere around there) Guild Announcements formed. (hurray!)
- April this year.. rather stupid changes.

Other than that, guilds has been the same while you were gone.

I really don't want to literally pin them on the ear and drag them over.

Definately not hot on the entire notice system. I only read them to get rid of them, I'd rather have Friends, Guild Announcements, and everything else separate from notes. Notes are cute little reminders, like trivia. Guild Announcements are just as important as Gaia Announcements to some people.

At the very least, an 'opt-separate' option should be available.

You really think the gaia staff care what users want anymore? They are a huge company and all they care about is whats easy for them and what will bring them a profit!


I for one have had enough and am leaning toward making my own online game/chat site.

I know some web development and have been studying hard lately to learn game development.

Gaia is just getting on my nerve's! They need to listen to there users or site's like my up-coming one who do listen will take over.

Damnit, announcments were so useful for reaching some of the GGBs less active members. (my guild)

This makes little senes because I personally dont even pay attention to notices.
