I've always had aversions to most female characters because they're almost always portrayed as the love interest, or they're overly catty or just really easy to anger over stupid things. I've found few girl characters I actually like. Its why I find myself always roleplaying boy characters - they're usually much more interesting, anyways~

Me too. I never understand why people go, "Your character is a guy? But you're female!" "Yes. And?" "But why do you want to play a male character?!" "Because I can."

*sings*
"Isn't it awfully nice to have a p***s? Isn't it frightfully good to have a dong? It's swell to have a stiffy. It's divine to own a d**k, From the tiniest little tadger To the world's biggest p***k."

I think that's why a good portion of my female characters are androgynous. . w .

I keep a good portion of female characters around, but most of the time they are single, not interested, or eternally mated with shape-shifters. And whats funny is, most of my male characters are gay... so having females for them is a moot issue. The ones that aren't gay, are the aforementioned shape-shifters.
There's a reason all my mules are male and I only have 2 accounts that are actually female (Chryssta and Tygrez).

A lot of story writers for video games are male. Characters are not created for a female audience. The are created for a male audience- traditionally for a 12-25 male demographic. Socially speaking these males are taught to be strong males and have machismo. A strong female role emasculates them. A strong female role in their preferred media contradicts what they are socialized to be.
Lara Croft is big because of, well...you know. Those things. Not due to what she can do. It's why many females are sexualized or sidled to shallow love interests. A complex, strong female isn't going to need the strong male hero to survive. Her existence is not dependent on him.

Free wifi in the hotel room, who woulda thunk it?
It was good, one fire alarm in the con center. Got drunk Thursday at the Hardrock. Made some new friends... Saw an old one...
Now I'm exhausted, and going into work in like an hour and a half.
