Cynder narrows her eyes at the other woman, tail flicking behind him. "Len? Is this who you were looking for...?" She asks, ignoring the threat for now to look at Len and see what his expression looked like.

Len's face was a bright red after he realized from her voice who she was. He still could not believe how she felt about him.
"I.." He squeaks a little. He still could not remember much of what happened with her before. He knew he liked being around her, but that it seemed like a bad idea. He's blush just goes a deeper red when she talks about whips and chains. But then the threat to Cynder worries him. He knew somehow that this women was dangerous, and he did not want to put Cynder in anymore danger.
"She... I ..." He looks at the drink. He remembers how nice it made him feel. but how it surely had to be the reason his memories had so many gaps. "Hehe.. You know. I think she is who I was really looking for." He tries to hide the worry he had, quickly taking the bottle and drinking some of it. He coughs a little after he swallowed, it burnt his throat a bit.
"Sorry Cynder. She is who put it on, it.. the leash. I just had forgotten." He smiles a little, to make sure she didn't think what he was thinking. That this women was bad news. That he didn't really want to go with her, yet for some reason he did.
"It.. was a game..." He looks at Absinthe, then back at Cynder. "I just forgot I was playing it. I ... I guess I just drank a little too much." He looks at Absinthe again.
"Cynder was helping me. It is okay, I was never in danger." He did not want the girl knowing about the demon, not wanting the blame for it to be put on Cynder somehow. He looks at Cynder. "Maybe next time we meet Rin will be back and you can hear us sing." He smiles a little, it was still a fake one, but he quickly takes another sip from the bottle to try and hide that fact.

Cynder relaxes a bit as Len talks, giving a small nod before handing him the part of the leash she'd still held. "Alright Len. If this is who you were looking for, I guess I'll see you some other time, right? It was nice meeting you, by the way, and I really do hope to hear you sing." With that, she spreads her wings wide and flaps as hard as possible, getting airborne and away from the woman that gave her the creeps. She really didn't want to leave him with that woman, but he seemed eager to go, so she couldn't really stop him. She flew away into the distance, the flame on her tail soon vanishing from sight.

(will add in better details of the plot we worked out in PMs that leads up to " The Stars Forever Holding Our Hearts" later. but quick basic sum up is: Len keeps drinking Absinthe's special "drink" whenever she finds him (wants to play around with the cute mortal.). And Len keeps on letting himself be the vamp's pet/toy, since he is always a bit too drunk or depressed to care. He gets so addicted to the drink that he doesn't think about how he really feels about Absinthe. Len is so drunk around her that he never really remembers anything that happens. (including any drinking of his blood Absinthe might do.) The encounters start to happen nightly. From this point on in the RP he no longer sees her, but it is a struggle that he needs help from Jody and Kaito and other friends to get throw. Rin will still be gone on her thing during these RPs, she will return in the " The Stars Forever Holding Our Hearts" RPs, where his friendship with Amanda grows into something more, and Rin returns.) If TWWA is ever up for it we can RP out the time Len is with Absinthe. (I'll make a new thread for it.)

(Scene is at a club in a bad part of a town in Mevarron)
"Brake.." Len says the words as he writes it down on a black music sheet, but it was just a word, he felt no melody behind it. "Dark...." again, just a word, no song. "I... They... It..." writing them down as he speaks them, only to erase them.
"Empty... My drink is empty." He sighs looking at the empty cup of vodka, but this time the words had a soft melody to them. He takes his glass and heads over to the bar. His music gig started in 4 hours, he would be playing one of his own songs, then taking requests after that. A rather lame gig, but it was something, It was singing, which was what he needed to do. He wanted to feel less numb. But even though he had months to get ready for it, he still had no song ready. "Just use an old one." He whispers, but then answers himself with a gentle shack of his head, "It is harder to edit out her words then to make new ones."
"You talking to yourself again?" Jody says looking over from the sit is just took at the bar. He had read that there was going to be a performance by Len Kagamine here and was hoping that meant his old friend was getting better. But from the looks of his leather outfit bad boy look, and the slight drunk glaze in the faefox's eyes, he was guessing nothing had changed. It takes Len a moment to realize it was Jody's voice and looks at him after sitting his glass down on the bar to be refilled.
"I told you I don't need you around me." Len's voice was rough, but there was something behind it, a longing, like he wanted to say something else. But he wouldn't even let himself think of what it was. "I can't handle you being here. Especially if she shows up."
"She? This "she" again. I can't help but think this "she" is a side effect of all the booze you been drinking," as he says this he puts his hand over Len's cup so the bartender doesn't fill it.
"Just leave. I want to have a good night, this is my first gig since..." He stops, not wanting to even say her name anymore.
"Since Rin left. Just say it. Stop acting like this, it is not you and it is creeping me out." The FaeSquirrell's voice was firm, but not load.
"How am I suppose to act? We have no idea what happened to her. No idea where she is, if she is hurt. Can you please just leave. I don't want to think about it." Len pulls the cup out from under Jody's hand and the bartender fills it up. He quickly drinks a long sip then heads back to the small stage with it.
"Rin wouldn't want this." Jody says and he hops off the chair and follows Len.
"This is all I can do to not think.. not feel. If she didn't want me to do this then she shouldn't have left. I am not like you Jody, I can't just move on like she was never here, like she doesn't mater."
"That is not how I feel!" Jody grabs the glass before Len can drink anymore, just dropping it to the floor, and the vodka spills, Len just stares at the drink, only half listening to Jody now. "You know that's not how I feel. We looked for her together for over a year. But she doesn't want to be found, that is the only thing it can be. It's what I have to believe."
"It's what you want to believe. You gave up, you stopped looking..." Len's voice was numb here, he sounded very defeated.
"So did you! "She" came along and you just gave up on yourself. You think this is what Rin would want to happen to you?" Jody's voice was raised now.
"I just said Rin doesn't care what happens to me. She left me. She didn't care how it would make me feel. She doesn't care about me anymore." As he spoke the words Len didn't feel right. This was what he felt now, but it was not what he wanted to believe.
"Stop this! I hate this! When did you become so self-centered!? Something might have happened that had nothing to do with you. This is your speech! You are the one that is suppose to be telling me to think about others." Jody's anger was holding back any tears he wanted to fall. Everything was so different now. The always happy, always optimistic kid Len was growing up was gone, wasn't he?
"Shut up! Just shut up already! I am going to loose this gig if you keep making trouble in here. I don't want to hear about what I was. I am not that anymore. I am what she wants now, she needs me. She won't leave me."
"She, She, She! Always about this girl who is obviously just using you. Last time we talked you never said her name, and now you still have yet to say it. What is it, Len? If this girl is so important that she can change you into someone so different..."
"It..." Len interrupts and was about to say his lover's name, but, he didn't know it. After all this time, he still didn't know it. If she had said it he had forgotten. "It is none of your business! Leave me the ******** alone! Just get the hemlock out of here!"
"Fine!" Jody was fed up, scared, pissed, sad. He did not know what to do. He felt like he lost both Len and Rin now. As he leaves he thrashes his tail, knocking a chair over.
"So..sorry." Len says to the bouncer after Jody was out of sight. The bouncer just smirks a little. That was nothing compared to the fights that normally happened here. Len cleans the vodka up then sits down by the guitar, looking at the papers of music. So many songs, but all of them were for him and Rin. "She's gone... and.. I don't need her." He gathers all the finished songs and goes out the back door to the ally. Then he throws them in the trash. "See Rin! I don't need you! I don't need you... I.. need you." Water begins to fill his eyes, but he forces it back. He had to get ready for his gig. The person he did need was coming, he had told her about it every night for months now. She had to show up. Then, maybe she would like the music, and see him as more then just the toy she made him feel like. Maybe they could be together, sober, for one night. Talk and get to know each other without the alcohol clouding their minds. Maybe he could remember the night together for once instead of just bits and pieces of it.
"I need you to say your name, to remember your kiss... no... I need you to help numb my pain..." the last few words came out with a dark tone, a dark melody to them. Len continues to hum the melody as he heads back inside. Quickly writing the words on the blank pages. Then writing the notes to the melody. He closed his eyes and the song seemed to dance before him.
"Dark Passion, my dark poison. Numb my pain. Dark Passion, my dark poison. Turning me insane."
After a bit he realized the song seemed to be more about the drinks she gave him then they were about the girl herself. This mystery he went to every night. Why? He could only ever faintly remember the feel of her kisses, her arms, and .. blood. Blood? For some reason his mind always drifted to that. But why? He never saw any the next day.
"Blood red lips, that call.. that brake.. that ... " He lost the song for a moment, but then closed his eyes again and the dance returned. He finished the song with a bit of time left. But she wasn't there yet, Len didn't see her. Was she not going to show?

The little club stood on a seedy street, not normally somewhere the little regular would have found herself. Like many other aspiring musicians, Amanda kept an eye on all the different bands and singers playing in Faetasia. She had plenty of friends who she helped with setup and clean-up for their gigs, and several rivals that she needed to keep an eye on where they were - and weren't - singing. And of course she needed to know what places were "hot" and which were not. So she read the advertisements for many of the bars and clubs, just to stay in the know.
This club was so small and disreputable - and very much not the kind of place she would consider singing at - that she almost hadn't picked up the flyer out of the pile a friend had brought by. It was almost luck, or maybe even fate, that had caused her to glance over the list of their upcoming performers, to see one she recognized, one she hadn't seen in a long time. She remembered the foxboy, cheerful if a little ditzy, and sweet. Any place he was singing at had to be okay, and she had found she rather wanted to see him again.
As soon as she had found the correct part of town, though, she started feeling like something was wrong. This wasn't somewhere that cute fox she remembered would have ended up. The club itself nearly confirmed her suspicions, that the name was printed wrong or was someone else. But she finally spotted a poster, with directions, and a picture of the fox on it. He was dressed oddly, everything about it seemed… off, somehow, but now she was sure that this had to be the right place, and the right Len, even if there was something still worrying her.
Amanda entered the club several minutes after the set was supposed to start. As usual, they were running a bit late, and she heard the sound check finishing up in the main room. By the time she'd paid her entrance fee and made her way towards the small stage, the foxboy was starting his first song.
Even from the beginning strains she could tell this was very different from the first time she had met him, and then she caught sight of him up on the stage. At the same time, he both was and was not the fox she remembered. He seemed so much darker, and somehow… so miserable. The song gave her the same impression; it was new, and she thought that the same things she saw in his clothes, his stance, were echoing out through the song as well.
Up until this point, she had been careful not to be too obvious, too pushy; as a Regular, she felt very uncomfortable here, surrounded by all the bigger, stronger, and less friendly faes than she was used to in her home town. But now she wanted to get closer, to see him, to hopefully find it was all an act. Up close she could tell, she was sure. So she started making her way towards the front of the crowd, determined to see him, not even thinking that he might recognize her, too.

Len dragged out the sound check. Maybe she was just running late, he thought. But he saw the owner's face, he was getting annoyed, so he knew if he didn't want to loose this gig he had to start.
The song started with a soft and slow melody played by the pianist. It was like a lullaby, but had an odd sadness to it. Then came in the guitars, twisting the song to more of a gothic metal tone, the tempo speeding up. Then the drums start making the tone loose any calm it had, the beat smashing what charm was left. Then the words join; dark, harsh, and forced, but it still sounded musical. It was something one wouldn't think could be coming out of this boy, but he got it out. Only it was scratched a bit, like an old record showing it's age.
"Days, they move so fast, Time keeps erasing the past... "
The music kept the beat hard, and for a while it was impossible to hear Len's words. He was singing too low, like he was unsure about the lyrics. But then when he hits the chores he raises his voice.
"Dark Passion, my dark poison. Numb my pain. Dark Passion, my dark poison. Turning me insane
Calling for her, I will never learn a name now never spoken. Calling out with only echos that return, so many names not spoken.
Then it comes, the cracks brake open cooling the sore, not letting hope in then it comes, will it win always wanting more, it's now an okay sin
Dark Passion, my dark poison. Numb my pain. Dark Passion, my dark poison. Turning me insane.
Dark Passion, my dark poison. Numb my pain. Dark Passion, my dark poison. Turning me ins..."
Len freezes, but the music behind him continues the song. His eyes finally spotted Amanda. It was so long since he saw her last, but her face was something he would never forget. For a small moment he starts to smile. but then the music stops, bringing him back to where he was.
"I... " He tries not to look at her again. "I am, I .. This is where I take requests now." He sighs a little, this was where he sings others' songs. Something no song writer ever wants to do. He looks back to where Amanda was again. Worried she was gone, but also worried she was still there. He wanted to forget the past. He wanted to be what the women who wanted him now longed for. But... He looks around the room, people were bringing up papers with their song requests that the pianist was taking. There was a few people leaving, some just now arriving. But no one was the blonde he was looking for. He gets off the stage while the others figured out what to play, going to the bar. It wasn't even something he was thinking about doing, just a mindless action. He asks the bartender for another shoot.

Amanda frowned to herself as she watched the fox sing. She wondered what had happened to make him change so much... even without getting to talk to him yet, she already could acutely feel how much she missed the cheerful boy she'd met before. As his eyes scanned the crowd, clearly looking for someone, and passed over her several times, she came to the conclusion that he didn't remember her. Which was... disappointing, but not surprising.
The music was neither the kind she sang, nor the kind she generally listened to, and with Len not recognizing her, she had just about decided to leave, when the foxboy's boys finally met hers. Her heart skipped a beat, and she could only imagine his did too, as he completely fumbled his song. She thought she saw a quick ghost of a smile, and she gave him one in return, before... his eyes left hers, and pointedly avoided returning. What?
She saw him half-checking if she was there, almost like he was scared to find she had gone - or maybe scared to find she hadn't? She couldn't tell, but somehow she was now sure she needed to go talk to him. At least for herself. So when he stepped off the stage while the requests came in, she shouldered through the crowd to get to the bar, and slipped into the seat next to him. "Hey, Len. How've things been going?" Very neutral, but... she really wasn't sure how else to start. Did he want her here? Want her gone? But she so, so badly wanted to talk with him... and maybe to find out what was hurting him, where the boy she had first met had gone to, and maybe, just maybe, see if she could help.

He freezes up again as he hears Amanda's voice, eyes widening a little. He could feel his heart racing a bit, but was ignoring it, passing it off as a side effect of the performance. He wanted to turn and look at her. But was afraid to. What if he snapped at her like he just did to Jody? He couldn't do that to her, he didn't want to taint the good memories he had like he did with Jody, Miku and Kaito.
"I'm.. fine." He forced out the answer, eyes staying on his glass. "Things are doing okay. They are, doing great." he smirks a little, he was trying to smile but it just would show up. "I lost a lot these last couple of years. But that is life, right? You loose things, and no mater how hard you look, you just can never find them again. So you have to move on. Look for something to replace it. And I have. I have this job. I have a lover..." He regrets saying that last thing the moment it left his lips.
Len looks behind him, the pianist was flirting with some girl, he wasn't needed back on stage yet. He was hoping he was, he wanted to leave this conversation. He didn't want to keep doing this. Didn't want to fake being okay when he wasn't. Didn't want to keep lying. He looks back at his drink, but for a moment his eyes met Amanda's face. And for a moment he wanted to stay there. Talk, tell her how he really felt. Maybe ...
"Yes or no? This is a simply question." The bartender had just asked if he wanted another shot, But Len missed that completely. How long was he looking at Amanda?
"No, I..." He looks at her again. Why was she here? Why was it her and not the woman he went to every night? The one he wanted so much to be with every night. He really did mean nothing to her, didn't he? He was just her toy, could be anyone and she wouldn't even notice any difference.
"I can't do this." He quickly gets up and just walks out the back door. He slams it, but the speed just makes it swing back open a crack behind him.
"I can't do this!" He looks into the bin where he throw the music sheets away earlier. But the trash had already been picked up. "... It's gone." His hands were shaking a little. The last part of Rin he still had had left him now too. "I hate you.. I hate you! What happen to you? Why does no one want me?" as he spoke the words grew softer and softer, his voice cracking some and his eyes filled with water. But he didn't let them fall, he couldn't. He had to go back inside. That's all he needed. Just go back inside, get another drink, then sing the damn songs. Then go home, go to her home, go back to ... to... "No name..."

At first, the way he paused, Amanda was afraid he was going to tell her to go away, or, worse, ignore her. Once he started speaking, she let out a the breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding, and she gave him an awkward smile in return. "That's... that's good. That you're doing all right." And then he continued, and she was about to respond when... I have a lover.
Somehow, the comment floored her. Until that moment she hadn't realized how much she liked him, hadn't really thought about why she'd come to a place as seedy and disreputable as this just to see him. She'd always assumed there was a one-and-only out there for her, and somewhere along the line, she must have started to suspect that was Len... She looked off to the side, quickly bottling her emotions, not letting them show on her face. Acting unconcerned. He was just a friend, only an acquaintance really, no reason that should have bothered her so much. She pulled herself together quickly, managing to keep the awkward smile from really slipping, and replied, "I'm sorry things have been tough. You can always give me a call if you need anything, I'll be happy to help." Now where did that come from? Especially with what he had just said. But it slipped out, with her too flustered to stop it.
And then suddenly "I can't do this" and he was gone, out the back door. She rocked back in her seat, hurt, and now that he was gone and couldn't see it, she felt tears start to well in her eyes. This had been a bad idea. He didn't want to see her, and... well, at least now she knew. She was about to get up, to leave and go home, when she heard his yelling from out back.
They'd been seated near the back door, which was the only reason she could hear it over the hubbub in the main part of the club. Something was bothering him, and the little Regular was not one to let people she cared about suffer if there was anything she could do about. She quickly dashed her tears away, following him out the back door.
"Len... Len, what's wrong?" she asked softly. If he wanted her to leave, she would, but she had to try.

"Amanda..." the word was soft. Len looks over at her for a moment, then he realized his hands where still shaking a little so he grab the sides of the bid to stop them, looking in it. His mind drifted a little, and he began to talk more to himself then at her really.
"I know your name, I remember yours. I remembered your name before I did your face. I knew I wanted to stay because of that name." Yet he can't remember his lovers name? lover... was that ever what she was? She needed him, right? Wanted him. He left her, more then once, early on. And she would hunt him down. When.. Why did he start going back to her every night? The answer was given by the craving he has now. He wanted her drink. It was stronger then anything he was able to get on his own. It turned everything off, all the pain... but also any happiness.
"I don't want to go back." But he had to, he didn't want to feel the pain, he wanted that drink. "...back on stage. I don't want to sing other's songs that mean nothing to me. My voice just doesn't sound right anymore. Even that song I just sang wasn't right. It... it lacked heart. It was feelings, needs, yes. But it was just a rough surface." His head began to ache a little, he needed another drink. He couldn't talk anymore. He turns to go inside to get another, but then stops when he sees Amanda. She looked so out of place in this back ally, a rare sapphire in a garbage heap.
"Why are you here?" He was a little worried now. "This is not a place for you to be at. Not even if you are just visiting someone. It's too close to Hemlock."

"My... name?" What was he talking about? She was so lost, but... but he was even more lost. She was sure of that now. The fox she cared about was lost, and hurting, and alone... and needed her. She took a hesitant step towards him, but pulled up short as he suddenly looked towards her.
"Why am I here? I came to see you, Len. I heard you were going to sing tonight, and it's been a long time since we last ran into each other. And any place you were singing had to be all right." She gave him a tentative smile, and took another step towards him, reaching up towards the fox. She paused, stopping herself just in the nick of time from touching his cheek - she had to remember that he just wanted to be friends - and instead she squeezed his shoulder. "I'm fine, I can take care of myself. And... I'm glad I got to see you."

"That was stupid. You are just like Jody. Everyone wants me to just be okay. I am not, I am not okay. I am not who I was. I can't be who I was, it hurts to much." His voice never raised, just stayed at a dull tone, like he wasn't even realizing he was speaking out load.
"That was stupid of you. Don't you realize people change. This place it not safe to just come to because I am here. You know how many times I been attacked, too many. Demons creep about around here... and other things." He wasn't mad at her, he was just afraid. He was even a little happy, but it was impossible to tell by how he was reacting.
"You need to leave and not come back. I never want to see you here again." He looks up, it was already night, had been for a while. She couldn't go alone. The town was safe enough, most the time. But any path out of here always was dangerous at night until you got deeper into the island. "I am going to be fired, but.. " He takes her hand, doesn't grab it, or hold too tightly, just gently tugs so she would start walking.
"Come on Amanda, we need to go. I didn't really want this gig anyway. I just thought she would come." that last bit again was just his thoughts spoken out loud, not really meant to be something he was telling her. "Lets get you somewhere safer." He smiles a little, it was a real one finally. For a moment just the idea of being with her, even for a short time, was able to keep him from wanting another drink. Even though he know it wouldn't last.

"I know you're not okay, Len... I want to help. But I can't help if you won't tell me what you need."
But then he started lecturing her, and she pulled away. "'Stupid'? I haven't seen you in so long, how was I supposed to know what had happened? Besides, I can take care of myself," she finished, hurt and a little bit angry. She slashed a hand across, the gesture punctuating her words.
And then he took her hand, and for a moment, she wanted to just go with him. Anything to have some time with him, and to keep this from turning into a fight. But she also wasn't going to let him boss her around, or treat her like a child. Not when he was the one acting like a child.
"Oh no you don't, Kagamine Len. You take on a commitment, you carry it through." She started to pull free, but then thought better of it, and squeezed his hand instead. "I'll wait until you're done, and then you can walk me back, if you really insist. But," and her eyes flashed a hint of warning, "don't assume I need protecting. Anyone who messes with me is in for a lot of trouble."
She may just be a Regular, and small at that, but she'd grown up with two older brothers and stories of her father, and had always dreamed of knights in shining armor. That she was the knight, not the damsel. Anyone tangling with her would find her a force to be reckoned with.

Len was a little dumbfounded. This was not the reaction his was expectiting, but it was one he was enjoying. This gig was a commitment, even if it didn't work out the way he wanted it to. Even if it was something he regretted taking on. And he was not going to let Amanda walk alone, so if doing it made it so she would let him go with her then in his mind it was now something he had to do.
"Okay," he didn't know how else to reply. "But... Try not to listen." a nervous little smile appeared. For a long time now when he sang his voice sounded harsh and broken. In fact, even with the club's rather disreputable history, he was surprised when he got hired. He kept his eyes toward the ground as he walked in, afraid to look at her, starting to fear that maybe her being her wasn't real. As he gets in he is about to head to the bar when the Pianist grabs his arm. Complaining about him taking too long of a brake and shoving the music to the first song picked in his hands. Len reads it over as he gets on the stage. Thankfully it was a song he knew, that always was easier then having to sightread it with no preparation.
Len continued for about 2 two hours, when the DJ for the night came in and took over the music. A new group slowly flowed in, feeling the club with more wild, and crazy outfits. Also more ebil races then was there before, mostly Coons. Creeping in from the dark of night. Len left the stage, he had looked for Amanda while singing from time to time, but never kept his eyes on her for too long. But he was always aware of the room, the people, Never able to really get into anything he sang. And now, instead of looking for her, going to her right away, he just instinctively went to the bar.
