Mr. Digital, you can disagree all you want but facts are facts XP

Hollywood's theme is what fear fears most.
John is a super cool guy. He's pretty much just like every other horror geek, except he has the dream job. He's so dedicated too. He's at the event every night, he talks to fans, answers questions. Super nice guy.
I used to love Disneyland but having an annual pass and going every weekend kind of killed it for me.

I meant for a place to live.

I'd love to visit there, but no way in hell would I live there.

I was kidding. Cool your jets.
I've been to a lot of really cool places all over the world but I still believe a California-centric universe.

And I have to agree with that view.

So! I went to Halloween Horror Nights last weekend! It was awesome! I gotta say, the thing that scared me most was the guys running around with chainsaws. But the whole thing was very entertaining. The first house I went in was called "Hades" and it was themed after greek underworld mythology - that was definitely a really scary, suspenseful, well-done house. I went in 5 out of 8 houses, and only one of them sucked, "Orfanage", but the Zombie one was killer. The only thing that disappointed me was that I thought there'd be more scare-zones, and less "safe" areas. But the scare-zones that were there were so good, it made it up for it.

Halloween isn't nearly as big in the UK as it is in America. Hell, if you live in the countryside, it's practically non existent. Unless you count the London Dungeons, I don't really know of any Halloween special attractions in the UK...

Here's a random and slightly depressing fact: I have never in my entire life been trick or treating...

I went to the london dungeons when I was in the uk a while back. It was good fun. I also went through one by The Eye called Death Trap....should have been called Tourist trap...not very good. I wanted to go through The London Tower Experience but we didn't have enough time :[

So far this season I've been to Knotts Scary Farm, The Chamber, and CC's smaller haunt, Alien Invasion.

My best friend and I went to Knotts Scary Farm on a thursday night...totally the best night to go to a haunt....we didn't wait in line for anything.
We only went through half of the mazes this year. We went through all thirteen last year so we felt like we only had to do the new ones this year.
NEW MAZES FIRST!!
Virus Z had to be my favorite. It was basically just a walk through a small town infected by the zombie virus but since there was no one in front of us or behind us there were some amazing scares. One of the zombiesat the beginning of the maze heard me say loud noises scare me the most so he followed me from beginning to end just screaming in my ear. It was so much fun.

Sleepy Hollow Mountain was pretty cool because to go through it you have to ride the log ride. This one wasn't so much scary as was pretty too look at. My favorite part was going up the big hill. They turned the lift into a big tunnel of jackolanterns. There were live people in there too but I don't feel like ride through haunts give the same opportunities for actors to get scares as walk throughs. It's a definite improvement from last year's pyromaniax.

Fallout Shelter was pretty cool. They said it was in 3d but the 3d effects were minimal. It was basicaly nuclear war and mutants in an underground bunker. some good scares.

and now for the returning mazes

The Slaughterhouse is an old one. Basically it's just backwoods hillbilly cannibals who slaughter and sell people as bbq to unsuspecting patrons. It's fun, kinda campy. There were some good scares in there. As you near the end you walk through what looks and sounds like a giant meat grinder.

London Terror was absolutely my favorite! The sets are well constructed, the props were good, the scares were unpredictable and there was a beginning, middle and end type story line. The story is you're investigating The Ripper murders but little do you know you're his next victim.

Doll Factory is always good. The story behind this one is The Doll House Murder has taken over an abandoned toy factory where he takes his victims and turns them into living dolls before he kills them. In this one, I think the soundtrack is a big part of the creep factor. They play Midnight Syndicates's Haunted Nursery...love that song. They got rid of the iconic doll lady. The way she moved was so mechanical and jerky. Her absence is the only thing that stops this from being my favorite.

Black Widow's Cavern is another rider through. It's usually the mine train ride but every october the spiders take over. It's every arachnaphobe's (read: my) worst nightmare. BUT! I got to ring the bell on the train so it's all good XD

Uncle Bobo's Big Top of the Bizarre is my favorite 3d maze. It's got your camp, and your kitsch and you're neon scary clowns. It is everything I personally love all wrapped up into one 3d-pop-out-in-your-face good time.

Cornstalkers....long story short if Dorthy's trip to Oz was really a trip to hell, I think it'd be something similar to this maze. There's creepy barns filled with creepy creeps and evil scarecrows. It's the first maze I went through the very first time I went to Knotts for halloween so as my devirginizing experience, it will forever hold a soft spot in my heart.

Labyrinth wasn't as scary but it was definitely pretty to see. The story behind this one is the king has passed away but his reign of terror still lives on. You run into all sorts of mystical creatures and undead members of the court. It's neat.

As for shows Ed Alonzo's Pyscho Circus of Magic and Mayhem was pretty neat. They had a legless aerialist and Neil Patric Harris made a cameo!
This year the hanging made fun of Disney's World of Color...."It's just water." Needless to say that alone made me love it.
And Blood Drums was awesome. SDC will always hold a special place in my heart because about 10 years, when I started going to these haunts, I met the guys of the original SDC crew and they were some of the most amazing, talented, and nicest guys I've ever met. at these things and that's saying something because I've met a lot of cool people at haunts, all of whom I'm still friends with.

The Chamber is neat....it's basically just an old school haunt with zombies and clowns and mutants....oh my! but it's a home town thing so I gotta represent. Alien Invasion is their smaller, more child friendly 3d haunt, which, oddly enough, scared me more than big one because some of the aliens had straws and they blew on your neck and creeped me the ******** out. haha

On this weekends haunt agenda is Frightfest at Six Flags and the following weekend, my holy grail of haunts, Halloween Horror nights. I am so excited

oy! i'd give my right eye for just one chance to be in the UK around halloween. Forget the candy, i'd rather be dancing around a bonfire in sherwood, visiting the moors in scotland, joining in a beltaine celebration in ireland, or just sitting in a quiet little pub enjoying a hearty meal and good ale with dear friends, than participating in something as common as candy any day.
Heck, the closest thing here in the USA to a traditional halloween celebration (and i'm talking about something deeply cultural and not just the usual candy grab that happens all over the country) would be around the upper east coast area. upper new york, boston, Mass. Penn. all the old colonial areas that most of the country forgot. the old fall festivals, and harvest festivals, and quirky colonial traditions that were lost to the ravages of commercialism and modern sensibilities.

Here in arkansas, the old halloween spirit is just about dead and gone. I've watched it dwindle, little by little, over the course of 2 decades into nothing, and what little remains is treated more like a nuisance or something demonic than something to celebrate merrily....it's sad.
so yes, i would really like to be there instead of here for halloween, even if it's just for a quick meal and an ale and a long walk in the woods.....

I think you bring up a good point. I get all carried away with getting the living daylights scared out of me and forget about what it's really about.
