I want to challenge the big boys!
Name: Hylas
Meaning: Greek- One of the Argonauts
Personality: Hylas is a agile cub, he's quick on his feet and quick to learn if it has anything to do with being physical. Other things take him a little more time, he's not stupid by any means, but he often has to work the whole problem out before deciding he understands something. He spends most of his time training with his father, and the other males or listening to his father about tactics, and tricks, and anything else his dad has to say that will help him win a place in the Pride.
He's absolutely enamored with the lionesses of the Ongozana'Ke , in his cub mind they are the most beautiful, graceful and elegant creatures on the savanna. When he is not learning to be a male worthy of staying among his nymphs, you can find him watching them, and offering his help with anything they may need. He can be very shy among the lionesses, and it makes him seem adorable and retreating. Around his father and the other males he is very intent, quiet, and tries his best, even putting in extra time if he has to in order to get the technique right. As he grows up, that intensity will transfer to a easy confidence, and the adorable retreating will become a gallant politeness.
Hylas will never be a loud, boisterous male, but he will know how to enjoy life and life in the Ongozana'Ke Pride, and most importantly, he will find joy and meaning in being a good and well trained Warrior.
Any plot ideas: Hylas has every intention of remaining within the Ongozana'Ke, and his cub hood will be spent working toward being able to make it past his first fight. I'd like to see him have a good amount of interaction with his father or another male who 'like a father with a dear son he taught him all the things which had made him a mighty man, and famous.' (quote from Hercules and Hylas of the Nymphs)" Should he lose his fight, (or any fight) he will end up traveling the rogue lands in an adventure like the Odessy, throwing himself against challenges to make himself stronger and better so that he can return to the Ongozana'Ke and challenge for his place again. Should he lose a second time, Hylas will be broken and will wonder into the Rogue lands and find a challenge that will offer him a 'Beautiful' death. (think Sparta here). He will be open to finding the conflicting emotion of 'true' love either within the Ongoana'ke or out among the Rogue lands or even another Pride. It will just depend on how his fights go and if he ends up wanderin in other lands.
