Name's Meaning Igbo is a tribe of African people (I just liked the sound) and 'gubua' means 'bring to light'.

Is he a new member or was he born in to it/long since joined? He stumbled into the pride when he was an adolescent and stayed here ever since.
His Personality: Igbo is a very optimistic hyena, settling into his position of bard easily musing everyone in the pride with his witty banter and jokes. He knows (most of the time) when not to take jokes too far, but quickly makes it up by diverting the subject as best as he can. Inside, he knows the current situation of the pride and knows he really can't do much to help, which is why he puts up a facade of jokes and laughter, hoping to comfort the ill (Think of the dogs that visit hospitals and nursing homes; that's what he does). He's very different from what he was when he was an adolescent, but he put his fright behind him and considers the pride his family.
His History: Igbo was born into a relatively normal pack, leading a pretty normal life. When he turned into an adolescent, he was ready to prove to his parents and the rest of the pride that he could help lead the pride with his optimistic and bright personality. Though it all ended prematurely when a rogue pack of males attacked his pack without warning, killing all adult males and driving out all younger males out while keeping all females hostage. Thankfully Igbo escaped with his life like all the other young males, but he had nowhere to go; the pack was all he knew. The young hyena was starving and lost; that was until he met a kind leopardess that took pity on him and led him to the Kitwana'antara. At first, Igbo had a hard time fitting in due to the ones afflicted with the disease and the diversity of the pride. Though with due time however, Igbo has gotten used to it, and now, this is all he knows.

Is he a new member or was he born in to it/long since joined? He wasn't born there, but it is where he grew up.
His Personality: Akineton has been told he's a good listener, and those that share sensitive information with him will notice that he's not one to spread rumours around. He's quiet and attentive and only really talks a lot if there are no male lions present. Not that he is rude when there are male lions around, he just hangs there in the background, speaking when spoken to.
He's always been a hard worker and he does what he has to in order to help his pride. There's no questioning his loyalty, and he's very good at keeping secrets.
His History: Akineton's mother was a pregnant rogue passing through the area. She made the mistake of using an abandoned den a little bit too close to the prides lands when she had her litter. The times were pretty desperate back then too, and when she refused to join the pride a fight started between her and the scout and guard who had made the offer. His mother and one sibling were killed in the commotion and he was brought back to be raised by a surrogate mother (of another species).
He had a good childhood (he still loves and respects his new mother) and grew up to be a loyal member of the pride. It's just that... Akineton remembers. He knows that a lion, most likely from his own pride, killed his real mother, even if he never talks about it to anyone. The memories of childhood are blurred and he can't remember the face of her killer, but he secretly tries to find out who could have done it. For all he knows that lion might be dead from the disease by now, but he's still looking in secret. He tries to find a way to question every lion that is close to his death, because some day he will find the one. What he'll do then... he's not sure. And until then he keeps everything secret. Akineton is good at that, after all.

Notes: He is loyal to the pride and will not go off in a mad rampage or leave the pride over this. If someone is willing to play along I might set this “find the murderer” plot in motion, but otherwise I’ll just keep it as his secret agenda and motivation.
Didn't add this part to the personality in case he can't be a Secret Keeper for some reason: Disposing of the dead of the pride is a task that isn't very pleasant, but that nevertheless has to be done. There's always that thought in the back of his head if it's a male he's attending to. "Was this the one? Did he kill her?" He gets a certain satisfaction out of imagining that it is indeed her killer, but he always feels a bit dirty afterwards. His task is to make sure his unfortunate pride members doesn't spread any diseases after passing, and to do so in a way that is still honouring the dead. This should take priority over everything else, but still he is dishonouring them in his thoughts... He doesn't feel good about it, but he can't stop.

Is he a new member or was he born in to it/long since joined? A new member, who wants to help spread a passion he has hidden in his heart.
His Personality: All Shinya's life he has wanted to do more than just live. He wanted to do something that could help the fire in heart burn as brightly as it could. This fire he hadn't had the chance to find until he found this pride, a place where he might just be needed and wanted. Aside from that though he has a passion for helping others just like his family before him. Nothing is to great a goal if you put both your heart and soul into it. That is what he believes is true, it is his life's philosophy and how he helps to heal others. Whenever he is caring for someone he will always talk to them in the kindest and most caring way he knows. If a person is sick no matter how long they have, he believes that you need to help them to restore faith. He is a dreamer, a believer, and a person who wants to help as many people as he possibly can with his paws.
His History: When Shinya was a young pup he was raised in a family that put others first. His family contained a mother, a father, and a young sister named Maria'lusa. His mother was a person who would open her home to anyone that needed shelter. She believed that helping others was one way to make a mark in the world. It not only helped your heart grow with kindness, but it also helped some continue to live their life remembering your good deed. His sister was different she was quiet and reserved never wanting to talk to anyone. His father on the other hand was a strong and daring fighter who protected his family every day until he was grown. His father never was quite keen to what his mother did though, allowing strangers in their den. Though nonetheless his father understood she enjoyed it and that was all that mattered to him His father taught him two things in his life's history, that was how to be strong to battle any weakness and to observe everything he didn't see at first glance. Shinya loved his father as a pup though as he grew, his mother began to inspire him. He watched her day and day out with his eyes glued to her magical work. She never stopped smiling, and that was when he knew that he wanted to feel the way she did. Feel the intense happiness he could see plain as day on her face. So not to soon after he asked her to teach him all she knew, and without hesitation she took him under her wing. That was when he began to learn her ways, the ways of a open-hearted person. The more he learned, the more he wanted to find a place that needed his kind of help. He would never have left his family, but his heart could not stay clouded forever. He had allowed himself to limit what he wanted out of life. That was until he hit adulthood, by this time his parents were growing older and his sister had already left to find her own world. As he thought of his loving family, he knew it was his time to move on. He kissed his parents on his cheek and took his first step to the start his adventure. An adventure to help find somewhere he could use his gifts to the maximum. That was was when his past history ended and a new one began.

His Personality: Buliwyf had always known in his heart that he would serve the Kitwana'antara in a way he was uniquely suited to, and had kept that knowledge foremost in his heart as he grew from pup to adult. He saw much suffering in that time and it instilled him with a deep compassionate and caring nature. With the sick and dying Buliwyf is a gentle, quiet shadow who treats them with respect and dignity, easing their passing with kindly care. However, with the living he is careful and perhaps a little guarded, his injury making him aware how fragile life can be, and how fleeting. That is not to say he is retreating, he will take a stand for what he sees as right, and will always stand between the weaker against a stronger opponent. Buliwyf is a male who always looks towards what is best for the Pride as a whole and in general is a sturdy and reliable individual, the kind of hyena you can tell your deepest, deepest secrets to and know they will never be repeated. A silent sentry who has learned that death should not be feared, but greeted as an old friend.
His History: Buliwyf was born into Kitwana'antara, and never known any other life save the one the Pride has given him. His mother was an accomplished and dependable scout, his father a well respected Secret Keeper. From puphood he aspired to be a scout just like his mother, to be as strong and competent as she. He trained hard and shadowed his mother during patrols. As he grew into a young adult, he started going out alone, short forays that were close to home to begin with, but gradually Buliwyf increased his range. He never should have.
Fate struck one night with disastrous results. On his way back from scouting out a band of rogues that were traveling to close to the Kitwana'antara's boarder, he was attacked by two male lions. The attack was unprovoked and violent, and Buliwyf barely managed to escape with his young life, thanks mostly to the lessons and tricks his mother had taught him. He was alive, but not unscathed. The scout suffered several serious wounds, and was more dead then alive when he finally made it back to the family den. Utterly spent, Buliwyf collapsed, and for weeks one of the pride's healers tended to his injuries. When what seemed like an eternity had passed, and he was back on his paws, it was clear he was lame. One of his back legs had been damaged in the attack and while he could move around and walk easily enough, he no longer had the endurance to patrol for hours on end, his run was painful, and at best, a slow lope .
With his dreams of being a scout in tatters, Buliwyf turned to his father, asking to be trained as a Secret Keeper, a job that required stealth rather than endurance, a silent tongue and loyalty to the pride, all of which he already possessed. A far quieter and subdued male since the attack, Buliwyf has put all his energy into his new training, using the challenges of the job to keep his mind away from the what ifs and could have been.

Since I'm not feeling that great, I don't mind extending the contest until Sunday. This means I can dig up a second judge and can re-read all the entries and consider what might suit this pride.
And for all of you who ARE still interested in the pride, two of my females are lining up for flings, and the cubs will likely be gifted and contested away as pride members. So keep your eyes peeled! There should be custom-ins as well!

His Personality: Known for being the aristocratic fellow with a charming smile, very few pride members would suspect Kai’s true profession. In fact, he’s a bit of enigma. Reclusive to a fault, the pride has had difficulty pinning him down long enough to interpret the hyena’s true nature. Those who were lucky enough to draw a conversation from the fellow have described him as being soft spoken and polite. Although these lions generally describe him in a positive way, all of them have reached the similar conclusion that something was just off about the canine. In truth, Kai wears a mask of kindness and civility in public. In reality, he is a bitter individual who holds no allegiance to anyone but himself. Even those who know him intimately describe him as being quite cold. Kai takes great personal satisfaction in the pride’s withering state and the profession he now holds, believing both to be form of divine retribution granted to him by the gods. He is clever, bitter, distrustful, deceiving, and apathetic.
His History: As a young whelp, Kai was stolen from his family and brought to a pride of lions. It was here he began his new life of enslavement. The pride was lazy and barbaric, suited to having lesser creatures work to fulfill their needs. During this time, the young hyena faced some harsh realities of what it meant to not be born higher up on the food chain. Despite having his childhood ripped from underneath his feet, Kai survived long enough to grow into young adulthood and meet his other half. The two were deeply in love with each other, and when his mate began to show physical evidence of her pregnancy, the soon-to-be father began thinking about a better life for his family. A life of freedom. It would be risky. Any who attempted to escape that were caught were immediately put to death to set an example. However, the young couple accepted the risk and made their escape one moonlit night. The flight ended in tragedy as Kai witnessed the mutilation of his mate and her unborn pups. Though he had been able to make his getaway, it had come at the cost of his family. His loss left the hyena broken, hollow, and guilty. For days on end he wandered, only doing the bare minimum to sustain himself in his trek. His journey finally ended at the borders of the Kitwana'antara pride where he finally collapsed in exhaustion. When the hyena recovered enough to travel once again, he began exploring the territory out of curiosity. For a while he became somewhat of a nuisance, spying and observing the pride while avoiding capture. Kai didn’t make himself known until a night when the pride superiors were discussing the plight of the pride, particularly their loss in numbers. They needed new bodies, new blood to sustain their population. He could provide that. He could do what they dreaded doing: stealing children. It would be a mutual gain. He could provide them with new members in return for the pride’s safety and food when they could provide it. And thus began a new chapter in the hyena’s life. The secret of his profession would known only by high ranking individuals and would be kept highly guarded. If the pride knew they were desperate enough to employ the services of a hyena to steal children, it could cause some distrust and unease among their members. Among those that knew, he became known as the Child Thief. To everyone else, he was just that pleasant fellow Kaino.

OCC Notes:I figure that both the act of stealing children and introducing them into the pride could create a lot different plots. I suppose it will eventually be known that he steals/has stolen children as there will be cubs that remember him or the information is leaked by one of the higher ranking individuals. However, for the time being, I think it will be a fun way of introducing members and providing potential plots for cubs that need it. :3
