I LOVE Scrapped Princess and Chrono Crusade! Just had to throw that out there since I saw these two got mentioned.

Hmm, truthfully I haven't watched a lot of the lesser known anime... Spiral: Bonds of Reasoning is pretty good, though the ending... yeah. You have to turn to the manga for that one. Still really enjoyable though.
