Lord Redtail Rathan Jin Saga Lord Redtail Rathan Jin Saga Lord Redtail Rathan Jin Saga This is one of the first question a non Muslim will ask, so I have a bit of experience on this question xp.
The prophet Muhammed said: "The best among you is the one who is the best towards his wife"
Hadith - Muslim, #3466
I will only talk about the women in general and not a mother, because a mother has de highest status in Islam like the prophet said: "Paradise lies under de feet of your mother".
First I would like to point out, that If you want to learn about Islam, search your own information, down rely on anybody especially the news!
It is Islam who gave women many rights, when we read history we notice that only recently women got rights, while Islam already gave women rights during its time. In Islam women are treated with deep respect, there is a whole chapter on Women in the Quran, why?.. to sort out any mistakes on their position, so Allah secured their position.
Of course there are people who take their wives for granted, but they are the wrong doers because a true Muslim would never mistreat his wife because he knows the her position.
Now, does Islam takes rights from women? absolutely not, It was Islam who gave the women the right to vote, this 1400 years ago, while in America women couldn't vote until the 1950/60.
Many people think that women covering their body is oppression.. well its not, because It is not the husband that tells his wife to cover herself.. It is God. Now you and I know, women are very attractive you and I might have a different kind of attraction but like they say: Every pot has a cover. So for herself and for others it is better for a women to cover herself. So actually God gave women a uniform because of their attraction.
Now how often do you see men whistle at Muslim women (covered) .. or how often do you hear that a Muslim lady has been raped?
So the women cover their beauty, and show it only to their husbands. You could compare it with Gold or Diamonds, or your pin number. You hide those things, because of their value? So God commanded women to cover their value, .. their beauty.
I hope I answered your question, if not let me know! If I believed everything on the news, I wouldn't have joined this guild. razz That actually answered my question perfectly. XD Southern men's respect towards women just got blown away. XD Good to hear! wink What else do you wish to learn my friend. I always hear non-muslims refer to "Infidels" as anyone not Muslim. Yet I have been told by an Imam that Paegans are the Infidels. So...what is an infidel? And does Allah truly command their death? Good question, Islam never encourages violence, Allah(swt) only commanded us to use violence as protection, meaning: If people would attack muslims because of their religion, muslims are allowed to use violence back, but! as soon as the enemy stops, muslims should stop as well.
Now regarding the infidels, the quran says: But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them but accompany them in [this] world with appropriate kindness and follow the way of those who turn back to Me [in repentance]. Then to Me will be your return, and I will inform you about what you used to do. [31:15]
O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for Allah , witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah ; indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do.[5:8]
Now this next verse will answer your question in the perfect order, I think. : Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of who is [rightly] guided.[16:125]
So Allah doesn't tell us to use violence, no, instead we should share our knowledge with them, and invite them to Islam, the way of Allah(swt).
If they refuse to turn to Islam, so be it. Every person will be held responsible for his/her own actions.
It would be strange if a God would say: "Kill all the infidels oh you who believe!".. If that would be the situation.. it would be very weird that God would create this infidels.. so it wouldn't be rational. So Islam on this point is: "Live and let live" However, call to the way of Allah(swt).
Again Islam, isn't pro violence, it is pro knowledge. So you can image how wrong the so called "Muslim" terrorist are. And there are some verses in the Quran with contain violence, of course.. what do you imagine.. Islam was something totally different than the Idol worship in that time, the elite people who had the power, were angry because of this call of "One God" so they tried everything to finish Islam, so the Muslims that time had to fight back.
Also when we look into history, Allah(swt) commanded the Muslims to spread the message, you can imagine very few people were waiting on these Muslims, of course there were people who allowed them to live by their religion. But the ones who didn't fought against them, so Islam fought back, in order to spread the message of Islam.
Have I gave you a decent answer? I actually keep teeling people that God does NOT say "Kill Christians/Americans." or "Blow yourselves up and I'll give you 72 virgins." Doesn't Islam actually mean "The Way of Peace" or something like that? And that actually gave me a good answer. As I said, I prefer a normal person over an Imam (Educated and faithful that he may be) because they won't BS me or try and convert me. Yea I know what you mean, next Q blaugh

And also that a Muslim man may only marry a woman that believes in God. A Woman may only marry a Muslim Man. So...The whole marriage ordeal... Good question, again like a said women in Islam have a great value, so men should take good care of them. The only reason that men are allowed to marry more than one woman, with a max of four, is to take care of them. Allot of people nowadays think that it is a sexual reason, but it is absolutely not. As we see now, there are women who can´t take care of themselves they are lonely, have to work, etc. especially in history we see that women couldn´t take good care of themselves because they didn´t had the equipment, who was going to bring food etc. So God gave men the right to marry more than one women. But! And this actually can only be realised by a real Muslim, a true believer.
The quran says: If ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, Marry women of your choice, Two or three or four; but if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one, or (a captive) that your right hands possess, that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice. [4:3]
So you have to treat al women that you have married, equal. If you are not capable of doing that, then you can only marry one, in order to prevent injustice.
Now as for marrying a non-Muslim. Men are allowed to marry a non-Muslim woman, but when they get children, they must become Muslims. As for woman they can only marry a Muslim man. Why? Because Men should take care of the family, so they are like the 'leader' in a way. A better way of putting it, is that men build the road where their family walk on. So If woman were to marry a non-muslim they would be walking on a wrong path, you see?

Now as for marrying a non-Muslim. Men are allowed to marry a non-Muslim woman, but when they get children, they must become Muslims. As for woman they can only marry a Muslim man. Why? Because Men should take care of the family, so they are like the 'leader' in a way. A better way of putting it, is that men build the road where their family walk on. So If woman were to marry a non-muslim they would be walking on a wrong path, you see?Makes sense. It pretty much follows what I've learned, minus the religion part. So, were I a Muslim man, I could marry a Wiccan (My wife, co-incidentaly is a Wiccan.) and still be a godly man, so long as my children are Muslim? Exactly! wink many people think that Islam is weird and strict, but as a Muslim I find it very rational. Wiccan is a section right? No, Wiccan is a full religion. Though my wife is actually more Neo-Paegan than Wiccan, at least by the classification of Wiccan. Serious? Isn't wiccan that witch kind of thingy? In a sense, yes. The US Military even recognizes it. You can out it on your ID dags. XD And I have a confession to make... The reason I actually joined and started asking questions...is that I'm having a bit of a religious crisis here. My faith in Christianity is becoming shakier over time. And Islam recently began speaking to me. I find myself more and more interested, agreeing with some of it's teachings.

Lord Redtail Rathan Jin Saga Lord Redtail Rathan Jin Saga Lord Redtail Rathan Jin Saga Good question, again like a said women in Islam have a great value, so men should take good care of them.

Hahah on ID you say, xd well, perhaps I can help you, I think everybody goes on a faith-crisis, its normal I think, the beauty of the Quran is that it challenges you it often repeats, roughly translated: "If you doubt this is the Book of God, then produce the prove of your Gods" Well that started to get me thinking, so I started to build my way to the truth, I learned about Jew-ism and Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, and more on Islam. Well eventually I started to see that Islam was the truth for me, and It wasn't really the faith aspect, more the aspect of that I go the evidence to prove Islam, after that, I started to work on my faith, and here I am today lol

Or it will simply strengthen my faith. I have another question: Shi'a and Sunni. Is the only difference between the to the belief of who the first Caliph should have been? Are the beliefs still the same? And is there a middle ground?

The Quran tells us, that Allah gave us the religion Islam, and the prophet said that his followers are Muslims. So authentic, that is the only teaching we got. That we are Muslims and our faith is Islam. Too bad there were people inventing their own road. I will picture it for you. Islam & Muslim is the head road, the road of Allah. Now the shi'a and sunni are side roads invented by people. Now of course we follow Allah's road! Also what I would like to mention, a Sunni is actually a Muslim on Allah's Road, because a Sunni also follows the Sunnah (teachings of the prophet) and the Quran. As we were commanded to do by our Lord! Do you follow this?

Are they not all Christian? Are they all not going to the same heaven? You answer both enlighted me...and confused me.

Let me say it like this, can you justify that people create a new group in a religion, while God ( their Creater ) gave them a religion and clearly told them to what group they belong. As far of the shi'a they also follow the family of the prophet Muhammed, did Allah command them to do so? absolutely not! Dont get me wrong, I have the deepest respect for the family of Muhammed, I wish for Allah to grant them with a happy rest in Paradise, however! I obey my creater, and he told us many times follow the prophet Muhammed, If he wanted us to follow also his family members he would have told us so. You see where I am going?
